I got this app specifically to block payment attempts from card testers. After installing it, I get an email stating this here: "Can Negate block payment attempts from card testers? Yes, please use our custom rules for checkout. These are not turned on by default. Be sure to read the documentation on how to turn it on for the first time. Note that an abandoned cart will still be made and it is advisable to pair custom rules for checkout with a shopify flow to then clean out the abandoned checkouts automatically." None of this is actually true. These abandoned cart bots use a URL which you as a merchant have no control over - you cannot even run any Javascript on this URL or choose what it does - hence the bot blocking apps in the app store offering zero protection against this. What makes me really mad about this, is that they claim they can. Furthermore I ran a comparison between the bot order attempts and their list and the bots show up as "human". And when I asked about help with this, they didn't even bother replying. deleted.
I got this app specifically for our increasing bot traffic. The reviews looked amazing so I installed it. On the 5th day I still got bot traffic and started cross-referencing bot orders vs activity log on this app and they didn't even show up. What happened next completely stunned me. Their support team actually ADMITTED IT DIDN'T WORK!!! Here's the message from them: "Hi there, This is Joyce from the Blockify support team.. Thanks again for your patience while we looked into the orders you mentioned. After checking with our technical team, we found that the app still receives and processes most visitor data as usual. However, in rare cases, it’s possible that: The buyer went directly to the checkout page, bypassing the storefront, which prevents our app from capturing the initial IP and browsing session. The buyer was using tools (like VPNs, proxies, or privacy-focused browsers) that changed their IP address during the journey — for example, from landing on the store to completing the checkout. This can result in the session being incomplete or invisible in the Visitor Analytics. We totally understand how frustrating this may be, especially when you’re relying on this data to block unwanted orders. Our product team is now aware of the concern and is reviewing how we can make the tracking more transparent. Thank you again for your feedback — it really helps us improve the app. If there’s anything else I can assist with, I’m here for you. Warm regards, Joyce Blockify Support Team" Deleted it immediately!

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience — even though it's difficult to hear, we truly appreciate your honesty. We're deeply sorry that Blockify didn't deliver the protection you were hoping for, especially when you installed it specifically to manage increasing bot traffic. We understand how disappointing and even alarming it must have felt to see unwanted orders continue to come through, and then find that they weren’t even recorded in the app's activity log. That’s not the experience we aim to deliver, and we sincerely apologize for the frustration and inconvenience this caused you. We know a simple apology isn’t enough, which is why our Product Manager has already reached out to you directly via email. We’re hoping to better understand your store’s setup, walk through what happened, and see if there’s any way we can provide a better solution moving forward — whether that’s through additional features, a more tailored configuration, or simply learning how we can improve. We genuinely care about our users, and your feedback is not being taken lightly. It’s helping us refine our product, and we’d be grateful for the opportunity to turn this situation around and support you properly. Thank you again for trying Blockify. We know your trust is earned, and we hope you’ll consider giving us a second chance. Warm regards, The Blockify Team
As many others say this app USED to be great. For the second time in a row now we tried to update the app to the new version and the second time was as bad as the first. And mind that every time it doesn't work our configurator is down, which means our products are worthless. So comes the second try they send me again instructions how to do this and I am getting ready at a little down time and as per instruction I delete the old app. The moment I am clicking the link the provided I am getting an error message. And now I am in absolute panic mode because our website is basically broken now, I contact support one time, two times, three times...no response. After about two hours I am getting a reply and it basically says "well you should have done that at 10:00am our time" which is 01:00am my time!!! Great, right? Now my site is broken and nobody helps me. Shopify really needs to come up with an insurance against developers like this because if they'd be in the US I would sue them for damages.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with the migration. Migration to the new app version is a delicate matter, especially for complex app configurations. Therefore, we always ask our customers to initiate the migration within our working hours, so that we could react immediately in case of any issues. In the migration instructions that we sent you, we specifically underscored the following: "You can start the migration any time Monday - Friday between 10 AM - 6 PM (GMT +2)". Meaning you could have started it in your morning, not at 1:00AM as you claimed above. But you started the migration way outside our working hours, therefore we were not in the position to provide you with timely support. If you'd be willing to agree on a specific time for migration within our working hours above, we'd be happy to give it another try.
For about 3 weeks now, almost every purchase made via the Shop channel/app has ended up being a fraudulent order. Not only that, the orders were not flagged by Shopify's system - Shopify Fraud Protection did not catch those things and we got hammered with fraudulent orders and chargebacks - we found out on our own either from people calling in after the orders went through, or when we look through the order details and payment capture information. Yes, we do look at each order that comes in - we're not a large company, we're a small business, and we like to know where each one of our products go to; being that we are a small business, these fraudulent orders have caused financial losses and the stress on the team is almost unbearable. The first one we noticed was about two weeks ago, when that person actually called us and told us they never placed this order. The shipping address was his mother’s and the billing address was his old address. He said he hadn’t used the Shop app in months. We chatted with Shopify’s support but the only thing they said was that they think that person's account got hacked. Fast-forward to two weeks later, and we get a chargeback from someone else with nearly the same story. They ordered something that’s custom-made and takes about 4-6 weeks to build, so it hadn’t even shipped yet - but production has begun and parts ordered so that sucks a bit. But, same story: they had never heard of us, and didn't even know we made licensed Star Trek things. A bit of digging, and we see more orders where chargebacks were filed but they were protected by Shopify’s Chargeback Protection and we didn’t even get notifications about those. But all of those were also pretty much the same stories. And here’s where it gets really weird: The shipping addresses do match those of the owners of the hacked accounts, are all correct - some packages are still en route, and some are at nearby UPS stores waiting to be picked up. So no, the scammers who hacked those accounts don’t even have the merchandise. Here's actually a little excerpt of the chat with Shopify after a call with the first customer mentioned above: "16:59 Agent (Support Advisor): Thank you for waiting we have double checked our resources and also based our Support Shop Department they mentioned to me that they don't have the visibility as to why this particular order got a fraudulent or high risk they can only provide some general information or general insights and suggestions: 16:59 Agent (Support Advisor): * Account security: It is possible that the customer's account may have been compromised or hacked. In such cases, fraudsters gain unauthorized access to the account and place fraudulent orders. It's important for customers to use strong, unique passwords and enable two-factor authentication (if available) to enhance the security of their accounts." PLEASE Shopify, do not tell us fraud can happen and to use your fraud prevention system like you did in another review. We ARE using your fraud prevention and your system doesn't catch it!!

Hi, thanks for the detailed review of your experience of using the Shop channel. Dealing with fraudulent orders are never easy, so I can understand your frustration. For context, our Fraud Analysis feature uses machine learning algorithms to determine an order's risk level. The displayed risk indicators aren't a comprehensive list of points looked at when reviewing an order however, but are instead instead a small subset of this data. I understand it can be frustrating when the system does not catch a high-risk order for your store, though we have a team of engineers and data scientists that are continuously working to improve our algorithms. From this, we're hoping to see a more accurate risk indicator being displayed overtime for orders on a store. I know it's not what you'd like to hear, and perhaps this has been communicated to you many times already, however our fraud prevention features as listed here: https://shopify.link/Qe1p, which includes the Fraud Control app, is the most effective way to provide another layer of protection to your store outside of the Fraud Analysis. The Fraud Control app: https://shopify.link/4krb in particular allows you to filter and block specific orders using a set of rules you implement, so if you haven't already done so I recommend installing this on your store. -Kimi, Shopify Support
