Negate has been a game changer for our store. We run a lot of paid traffic on Meta and Google, and bot clicks were quietly eating our ad budget and messing up our pixel data. Since installing Negate, our analytics are clean, our pixels are only getting real human events, and our ad spend is going where it should. Setup was easy and it just runs in the background. On top of that, the support from Kai and the team has been outstanding. They actually take the time to explain what's going on with your store and go above and beyond to help. If you're running ads at any real volume, this app pays for itself. Highly recommend.
App has one goal, stop bot traffic, yet our bot traffic has still been rolling in. For $50 per month I'd expect it to work.

We have had Negate - Bot Protection for quite a while. We added the app originally to protect from Chinese bots that were creating a huge number of abandoned orders. Problem solved. Recently, we changed our website theme and then paused for a short period of time. When we came back, an influx of bots from Ashburn, VA, were skewing our traffic numbers. Kai was quick to respond and eliminate the bots. Great customer service beyond any other! If you want to protect your store from unwanted intruders, I highly recommend this app!
Our conversion numbers were taking a huge dive because of all of the China bot traffic. We installed Negate and saw them start being blocked right away but it was still only catching about half of them. I reached out to their customer service team and got a quick response from Kai who initiated a block on all China traffic and helped explain what was happening. I got this app specifically to block payment attempts from card testers. After installing it, I get an email stating this here: "Can Negate block payment attempts from card testers? Yes, please use our custom rules for checkout. These are not turned on by default. Be sure to read the documentation on how to turn it on for the first time. Note that an abandoned cart will still be made and it is advisable to pair custom rules for checkout with a shopify flow to then clean out the abandoned checkouts automatically." None of this is actually true. These abandoned cart bots use a URL which you as a merchant have no control over - you cannot even run any Javascript on this URL or choose what it does - hence the bot blocking apps in the app store offering zero protection against this. What makes me really mad about this, is that they claim they can. Furthermore I ran a comparison between the bot order attempts and their list and the bots show up as "human". And when I asked about help with this, they didn't even bother replying. deleted.
We suddenly had a flood of thousands of hits from Ashburn VA (amazon), just camping out. Installing this app shielded our site from this unwanted traffic ... which allowed us to get a clearer sense of traffic flow in light of tests and ongoing campaigns.
This app has been a game changer for us. After months of dealing with completely unreliable data, our analytics finally make sense again. We were heavily affected by thousands of bots from China, Russia, and Singapore that polluted our analytics for months. Shopify’s built-in human/bot filter did almost nothing to stop this. As a result, not only our analytics but also our Google and Meta pixels were severely contaminated, leading to degraded campaign performance and bad optimization decisions. Since using this app, all of these issues are fully resolved. The bot traffic is effectively filtered out, our data is clean again, and our tracking pixels are finally reliable. Performance insights are accurate, and decision-making is back on solid ground. We are extremely happy with this app. It solved a critical problem that Shopify itself could not, and it delivered exactly what it promised.

Title: Life-saver for our small Dutch family shop Review: We’re a tiny family webshop that only sells in the Netherlands & Belgium. A few days ago we suddenly got hit hard by a targeted bot attack (dozens of bots every few minutes from Russia, Brazil, USA, Ukraine, etc.) plus spam and threatening messages on other platforms. Negate has made a HUGE difference in the performance of our ads since we installed it ≈ 18 months ago. For years, bot-triggered events had been sent back to ad platforms and drowning out legitimate signal with noise, but within days of install we started seeing a *massive* improvement in traffic quality because now only human-triggered events were being passed back to Meta, Google, et al. I've also been repeatedly impressed by Negate's prompt replies to CS inquiries and the care they've taken in thoroughly researching issues I've brought to their attention in order to provide top-notch customer service.

Was a little clunky to fully understand and had a couple small hiccups in implementing the correct settings but once I was able to get support to help this app completely knocked out 30,000+ visits of bot traffic we were getting to our site monthly. Don't think twice, you need this app!
First started using this service a couple years ago when my website was getting data scraped from bots 24/7. Most likely coinciding with all the AI training companies were beginning to do. The data scraping wrecked my suggested items widgets, preventing them from popping up. This service immediately eliminated all of those bot visits. The bot visits have slowed down recently so I reached out to customer service to adjust my plan. Kai responded very promptly and was beyond helpful while listening to my concerns about my subscription and website. I'd highly recommend this app if bot protections/prevention is required. -JT

This app has been a great find among a slew of other ineffectual alternatives. Easy to implement and seriously effective at tackling bots. Kai's support was rapid and informative and contributed to the overall success of us being able to restore order to our sessions.
Did not work for us. Had bots hammering a form of ours, it was not identifying any of those as bots. There were also no way for us to set rules based on trends we had seen from bots.

The app was also blocking ad crawlers, which made our ad cost tripled. Doesn't seem that the app is blocking the right bots and it has cause more damage than helping.

Negate does not block legitimate crawlers of any type. Useragents can be altered, and malicious actors know this. Many malicious bots will have their useragent tampered with to match that of a legitimate crawler in hopes of getting past your security. That's why Negate uses Google's official documentation to validate their crawlers which involves running a reverse DNS lookup on the accessing IP, verifying the domain, running a forward DNS lookup on the domain, and finally verifying that it's the same as the original accessing IP. We follow the guidelines provided by each markting platform to verify their crawlers. This is outlined within our documentation under our FAQ's. If you have 100's of "google bots" per day, then you absolutely need to be looking further than the useragent. Additionally when click fraud occurs, ad costs go up - which may be why you are seeing an increase in ad spend. It takes time to clean out your pixel from the bad traffic that occurs in those situations (generally pixels hold onto past data for 90-180 days). So if you believe click fraud is happening then it's important to have a good bot protection service. Best of luck in your future endeavors. Negate Support Team

Kai has been super useful throughout with his setup recommendations for Negate. Negate helped to reduce a spike in bot traffic we were seeing. This traffic was ultimately skewing website metrics and costing us money on profile volume billing. Negate helped prevent this.

We've been using the Negate website dashboard since 2022, and it’s been a game-changer in blocking bot traffic from our Facebook and Instagram ads. At one point, we accidentally disabled Negate protection and immediately saw a drop in conversion rate. As soon as we re-enabled Negate protection, our conversions went back up, clear proof that it works!! The dashboard is detailed, showing visitor IPs, locations, and whether they’re human or bots. We also love that the protection settings are adjustable, allowing us to redirect bots, use advanced AI, and implement fingerprinting for even better filtering. Plus, Taylor is always quick to respond and incredibly helpful. We just installed the official Shopify app for convenience, and it was a simple switch. Highly recommend for anyone wasting ad spend on bot traffic!
Great app. Looked for an app after Bots kept harrassing my store by placing automated abandoned checkouts, and creating huge spikes in fake traffic from the same locations. After setting up Negate, this was all solved. Good communiation with Taylor, who is always happy to explain or investigate specific issues. Feels so much cleaner having Negate filtering my traffic. I have been searching for years for an affordable way to deal with bots on our site. Our analytics were useless with these bots and it was very frustrating not to be able to make decisions due to this issue. Finally I found Negate Bot and I couldn't be happier. Our analytics are on point now and their team was amazing in helping me to understand what we were dealing with. There are bot protection softwares out there that are very much overpriced. *Edited 4-10-24* I came back to see what their reply to my review would be and I see that they state that I threatened them with a negative review for free services. Unfortunately for them, I can prove that is false. All communications are directly copied and pasted from the email chain with no exclusions, and I will be happy to provide all of that upon request. I also never requested anything other than information from them on how they got their metrics and how they came to the advertised amount of money saved. The claim that I threatened a bad review for free services is unequivocally false and I would highly encourage them to post their proof of this as I have posted the entirety of the communication between us except for the trouble ticket info as I do not possess that. This negative review was left prior to them ever contacting us and in fact is likely what prompted them to actually contact us on March 19th within an hour of our negative review being posted since all other forms of communication received no response. I attempted every form of contact provided and waited about 11 days for any reply before sending the final email and leaving this review a few moments afterwards. *INITIAL REVIEW* Beware. This app counts/ charges you for everything that interacts with every page on your site and you will get charged for every page a bot visits even though your settings are to bounce the bots from your site. I had been noticing troubling spikes in traffic (more than a thousand in an hour) once per day for a week or more prior to installing this app and it seems to have solved that somewhat but there is no clear way of even telling this for sure since they are so obtuse with their information. By their own admission their estimates of money saved are not accurate. I had high hopes for this app but after hitting the "API limit" in about a week of having it and them forcing a financial upgrade to continue having protection, doubling or even tripling the monthly cost, not replying to emails asking for clarification, and taking days to even reply to the help ticket I submitted I have given up and will be uninstalling the app upon submission of this review. Their reply to my initial help ticket. MARCH 8TH Thank you for contacting us. An API request is counted every time we score a user or bot, this can happen multiple times if a user visits several pages on the website as the score might change due to their behavior. Depending on the plan you are on, you have a specific amount of API requests per month and whenever you get close to exceeding it we notify you that the protection will be paused when the API limit is reached. The amount of money saved number is an estimate based on the events that we blocked on the different pixels. The numbers we use for events such as AddToCart or Checkout are averages sp they might not correctly reflect your store and could be very different from the actual numbers. We try to provide an estimate but it's difficult to account for specific kind of stores. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any more questions. My reply that went unanswered for more than 11 days. Sent on March 8th Good afternoon, I'm asking because I'm trying to assess the value your app is providing and you haven't really said anything that will help me make that decision. Since I don't have any active pixels attached to my store, how is your app coming up with this data? And I can get charged multiple times for the same bot/ human in the site if they decide to visit multiple pages on my site. Can you sell me on your app before I remove it from my store? We use this number to create an estimate on the amount of money that is saved, this data is generic and therefore might not be accurate for your store. If you'd like, we can also personalize this information by using CPM costs provided by you. Negate specializes in blocking bots from firing your marketing pixels and analytics, this is done independently from any kind of pixel you might be using on your website. You decided to reach out to our support team, threatening to leave a bad review unless we gave you a higher traffic limit than what your current plan allowed for. We did not give you a higher limit for free because it’d be unfair to other merchants who pay for our premium services. So here we are with your review which is extremely inaccurate. Below is how our pricing model works. Negate charges a flat rate per month. It is either $19, $49 or $299 depending on the plan you choose. There are no in between plans, no additional fees, no contracts, and you can cancel at anytime as we bill via Shopify billing. This means as soon as you uninstall the app your subscription stops immediately. If you cancel during your trial, then you are not charged. When a merchant surpasses their API request limit, they are not automatically charged extra, nor are they automatically bumped to a higher plan. Instead they receive a notification stating that their traffic limit has been reached. If they’d like to upgrade to a higher limit plan they can do so manually from within the app. If they decide not to upgrade, their traffic limit will reset at the start of their next billing cycle and they are not charged anything extra. For instance, you signed up for the $19 plan. You surpassed your limit. You decided not to upgrade, and you were charged $19 at the end of the month. The API limit for the $19 plan is 50,000 API requests. An API request is counted anytime a visitor is scored. It means it sent a request to our machine learning model for scoring. Scoring happens on each page since we need to look for things like rotating proxies. Scenario 1: A visitor visits 2 pages. This would total 2 API requests. Scenario 2: 1 visitor visits 5 pages. A different visitor visits 1 page. And another visitor visits 2 pages. This would total 8 API requests. Additionally, we use real GPU servers for our scoring, which is reflected in our pricing. If you do not require a premium service, we’d urge you to look into other alternatives. Took support a day to get back to me but they did reply. Pleasant support but unable to prevent bot accounts as suggested which is why I installed the App so had to uninstall.
Didn't work for me support was answering in the beginning but stopped. Your better off just getting a program that blocks IP'S like IP Block.
Ok So first I read the bad review like most people to see what was sooo bad about this app. I then read the dev's response, they mentioned to check out their docs, which I read that. After reading the bad review and the docs from the dev's response I decided to still give this app a try. I am so glad I did. So for anyone not very tech savvy this is what I did and maybe it will help you. I added this app to my site b/c I was noticing some bot traffic for sure. After I added it I reached out to support and asked if they would kindly take a look at what I had setup to make sure I had it right. Their customer service is amazing. They were very prompt to answer all my questions and we set up a call today to go over everything just to make sure I had a clear understanding of what was actually going on with my site. They listened to my concerns and explained the different types of bots and what they do and the different ways the bots actually damage your site. I looked up some of this info before the call so I was aware of some of it, but they explained it in depth. They were very thorough and how the Negate app works to help protect my site. The phone call was extremely informative, helpful and friendly. As I mentioned after doing a lot of research on my own before the call and after the call I am very glad I installed this app to protect my site. If you're getting an influx in traffic that you're not sure of you should really consider this app. I highly recommend it.
I highly recommend Negate Bot Protection for any Shopify store weather you are currently dealing with bots or even as a preventive measure for your store. They offer amazing support and are there to answer any questions and are true experts. They know how to protect your store overall as well as protect your check-out and other pages against spam and bot activity. Negate has been a time and money saver for us. As a small company, any attention diverted to blocking bots or nefarious competitors means attention taken away from creating business and revenue. Negate has taken this off our plates in a big way. It's made our Google ad spend tighter, our analytics cleaner and one less thing to worry about. We found them because one day we had 400 views from Singapore, turns out lots of Shopify stores were experiencing the same thing. My other blocker didn't stop them. Other community forums said just let them read your site. I didn't want that. Signed up for a free trial with Negate and within five minutes, it was gone. We've been big fans ever since. I highly recommend Negate Bot Protection for any Shopify store. The company is very responsive. I reached out to the app developer with questions and they were extremely helpful and informative about the product and how it works. They also provided new updates to further protect our store from bots along with step-by-step instructions. I've been very impressed with their product since installing, and their customer service is top-of-the-line.
Taylor is incredibly helpful and truly cares about helping sellers with bot issues. I did not fully understand exactly how the app worked at first, but Taylor took the time to explain everything and then some. The app has helped to make our Shopify Analytics data much more accurate and also protects against bots sent to your web site via Google/Facebook or other paid advertising. The app basically babysits your web site from bots and learns more and more over time. Very happy with the app!
After two months of trying to figure how to stop the surge of bots driving our Shopify Analytics off the charts, and our CRO below 1%, I came across Negate. Klaviyo or Shopify were of no help to protecting us and blew us off. Negate made it possible for us to eliminate the bad bots affecting our analytics and ads. I can't say enough about Negate and the help Taylor provided us. He is easy to talk to and he cares because this is exactly what happened to him as a merchant. Taylor took the time to educate me just how things happen and what is necessary to prevent it. Within a day we were back up running things as normal while knowing are ads are also protected. This app wastes money and time. Our site traffic and sales dropped precipitously while using this app, which means it blocks good bots and humans. The loss in sales far outweighs the potential savings associated with so-called clickjacking.

We're sorry that this was your perception. However a drop in sales would have been impossible given that your redirect option was turned off. This means that everyone (over your 5 day trial), including bots, still had full access to your website. With the redirect option turned off, Negate solely acts as protection for your marketing pixels by not allowing bots to trigger important events such as "view page" or "add to cart". We'd also like to highlight that you can use the threshold slider under protection settings to control the level of protection provided by our machine learning model. This can be particularly useful if you're using the redirect option to combat card fraud or form spam. Our most recent machine learning model has a false positive rate of only 0.02% (derived from our confusion matrix results), ensuring minimal disruption to your site's legitimate traffic if you choose to have the redirect option on. Regarding your comment about the "good bots," it's worth noting that Negate uses a stringent verification process, as outlined in each marketing platform's documentation, to identify genuine bots. If your website is receiving an unusually high number of visits from 'good bots', there may be more to the story as user agents can be easily modified. Finally, we noticed you've left one-star reviews for several other apps. While it's important to share your experiences, we'd recommend reaching out to the support teams of these apps, including ours, before leaving negative feedback. I'm so grateful to have found Negate - Bot Protection! We were inundated with fraudulent orders and abandoned carts. As a result our sales reporting and traffic counts were out of wack. The d - - - bots are just a nuisance all the way around. You know this already or you wouldn't be here reading this. As soon as we added Negate - Bot Protection the lousy bots were directed away from our site. The interface is easy and intuitive, but if you're like me and don't feel too savvy with technical things, the customer support for this app is unsurpassed. They really care! They are eager to help you make the app work for your site. Negate - Bot Protection has earned my most sincere recommendation.
What a great App! We shopped around and researched Bot Protection for a while. We decided to add Negate as the reviews were great and they offered a 7 day trial so we could see what all the fuss was about. Within a day we noticed a massive difference. Customer service is exceptional! Patient and knowledgeable. These guys really know their stuff and in our opinion are giving their competitors a run for their money. The analytics are easy to read and you can see quite clearly every detail of what the app is doing and how well it is performing. Set up took about 5 seconds!
