It looks like the app is not being maintained. No updates since 2022. The app would not install on a new Samsung Galaxy S23, our standard phone for the business. So it was a waste of time even trying to test the app. There is NO clear documentation on compatibility, and surprised you have to use a small mobile app, and have no option to use the app through the browser. I am happy to update the review if there are acceptable responses by the developer. Sorry to hear about the problems you’ve experienced. Your review here is the first we’ve heard about them. Support by product review isn’t the route most users choose for handling issues. We usually learn about problems through our in-app chat function or when users email us at help@cohub.com or info@cohub.com. Let’s start first with documentation — there’s an excellent 8 minute Quick Start video that demonstrates exactly how the app works. See the link below. Video and self-explanatory UI (user interface design) are by far the best form of documentation for an app like ours. It’s why we put links to the video in many locations throughout the app. I will say the video is a bit long in the tooth as we’ve added some functionality since it was published -- the very powerful mid-count adjustment, for example. But, the UI makes these updates pretty obvious, so a video update hasn’t been urgent. As for maintenance, we most definitely maintain the app! In fact, a developer is writing this response to you. We release improved code many times a month and as recently as two days ago for enhancing back-end performance. These continuous improvements don’t show up as major feature releases because, for the most part, our updates don’t require users to do anything additional on their end — uninstalling, reinstalling, rebooting, etc. Unfortunately, as I’ve just learned from you, making things less bothersome for our users is having the paradoxical effect of making it appear that we've abandoned the app. Nothing could be further from the truth! Browser support — Easy answer for that. Yes, there is. You can start counts, adjust inventory, download reports, invite users to counts, and more. You’ll find it right there in your Shopify Admin on the left-hand side of the Shopify Home Screen from the “Apps” link. Also, Browser functions are covered extensively in the Quick Start video linked below. Regarding Android support and the Galaxy S23: Our app definitely works on Android devices. It’s not the easiest OS us to support as there several different forks (varieties) in the wild. Being a small company, it can be difficult to code for all the variants. Samsung has a particularly unique version of Android that requires even more attention. That being said, we have tested the app on their Galaxy S20 5G and it works flawlessly. We’ll do some research into the S23. Hope that answers everything for you. We’d love for you to give us another try. Happy to work through the S23 problems with you -- if you’re having trouble, it’s likely others are, too. And, know that when you’re contacting our support you’re talking directly to the creators and developers who write the code. There are no non-technical types put between you and those who make cogs and sprockets. In fact, let’s make this even easier — send an email to help@cohub.com with your phone number and I’ll call you. I know it's a holiday, but I also know that accurate inventory is critical for folks, especially during this time of year. It is a good attempt and shows potential, but missing too many controls to be used on install. Biggest issue is that the table is not responsive and will not load on a cell phone - because the width is too big and wont show the "add to cart" button. Also, strange decision to allow you to stylize the header of the table, but you have NO control over the actual product content - for our template the font style was twice the height of our theme , and is ugly. The functionaliy is good, but the UI display and controls are very poor and require a ton of work to override to follow your default theme styles. Totally willing to update this review if the developer addresses anything. Hi, Thank you for leaving a detailed feedback. It seems like there is a conflict with your theme which we can resolve. We have tried reaching out to you through your website contact form. Can you please write back at "support@addify.co" so we can troubleshoot and resolve these issues on your store. Thanks
Very poor app for handling the most important physical function in Shopify. Very disappointing. The poor function and printing of a barcode symbol is a good reason to never use Shopify. We had too many problems to get 20,000 labels working. Always an issue getting the barcode to print properly and read with the proprietary Socket Mobile scanner for Shopify POS. -The Documentation is poor to explain how layout works with "limited formats" and how that interacts with a thermal label printer with a label of a different size. There are so many label sizes. Why have such limits and not allow a standard dimension to be used? - No warnings for character limits on barcodes. There should be a warning when printing barcodes on labels that might be too narrow and create readable issues in 128. - No options to enable/disable compression, resizing or automatic "fit to size" within the app. Too much reliant on the print driver to adjust the barcode, when the app should be handling this. - No options for custom layout , including text wrapping options, font size. - No option to add a logo to the retail label. We want to add a small corporate logo somewhere on the label for branding. - the variant and product selection screen is too basic. It should show you the BARCODE field and the fields that the chosen LABEL is using. DUH! You have to "Print Label" to see if all your fields are there. - give us the usable workflow to find the oddball variant that is missing a barcode so we can fix it before printing. - A custom layout that allows you to adjust the height of the barcode with the text fields would make this soo much better. even if it still forces the fields to center. And within the height of a text box, you can enable/disable text wrapping to handle things like a long title. - the Label Template has a custom field for that template. BUT why not offer a "custom field" for the product, so a short title can be used to compensate for a long title that gets cut off the label because of the character limit. ...this app should be way better and more useful and accommodating. We tested identical test data with the Brother pTouch Editor and the same printer and the barcode labels came out beautiful, to the design, and accurately read quickly with the Socket Mobile S700. Verifying the conclusion that this app by Shopify is "trash".

Thank you for taking the time to list out the issues you've had with the Retail Barcode Labels app, and I can see why the difficulties you've encountered have made for a frustrating experience when trying to design and print your labels. Our app development team actively reviews merchant feedback and this helps inform them on where to make improvements for our apps. All of the suggestions you have listed will be passed onto them and we appreciate you writing your review to inform us of the problems you've encountered. -Victor, Shopify Support
