Canteen ‑ Deposits and Fees

The app works in 90% on the cases but then when you report a bug, there is no answer. We have been waiting for 20 days to get an issue fixed but there is no response from their side.

Super simple for automatically adding a refundable depot, e.g. on container.

Very slow response times, never fixed our problems with Shopify POS, app is very inconsistent, the deposit and fee rules only work correctly 75% of the time. When they don't, our customers get charged the incorrect amount, causing problems with customers trusting us. We tried for a couple of months to get it to work properly, and it still doesn't.

This app doesn't work. Sometimes it charges the core charge and sometimes it doesn't. Support has been poor and non responsive. They said they would look into it right away but then I never heard back from them, all the while I keep getting orders with no core charge added. Time to look for a different app that will do what this one is supposed to do

Great customer service. Had an issue with my previous cheaper app constantly refreshing the cart and interrupting my customers when customizing options. And sometimes it wouldn't even work or display. But this app was clean, optimized, and runs great. No more weird refreshes. And it never misses adding the fee at checkout.

Application does not work as attended, regarding the theme I installed. It has some flaws, which makes it harder to install. Positive side is, the customer service is great! Swift responses and immediately solved the issue. If they could fix the issues of the application, it would be 5 stars for me.

For our winery that needed to automatically apply tax free bottle deposits, it's really convenient. Rules are easy to create and easy to apply, very straight forward app.

Responsive customer service, helped us through some early glitches where fees weren't linking correctly. Smooth sailing since then. Linking different deposits/fees for different sized options cannot be done with product variants. You must create independent products and link deposits/fees to each item.

Canteen App has solved our problem of automatically applying deposit fees. A Key feature is that it works on Shopify POS and automatically applies the deposit fee when the product is scanned into the register.

App works great and customer service/troubleshooting was friendly and efficient.

The support team has been so amazing with helping us implement a pretty complicated staff gratuity service fee situation. The app wasn’t working how we needed it to at first but the support team responded immediately with solutions, ideas and even built some of the fees themselves to get it working how we envisioned. This app is an absolute game changer for our food business! We are able to add fees for recycling deposits, allowing us to keep track of the amount separate from the actual item cost. The app support is fantastic and very responsive. 10/10 recommend!

app doest work correctly, it doesnt work correct with POS Thank you for taking the time to use our app. As we’ve mentioned in our support interactions, Shopify has certain limitations that prevent us from automatically calculating fees in the POS cart. Currently, the only way Shopify allows us to implement this is through app tiles, and we’ve worked hard to make the process as smooth as possible. We’re always keeping an eye on potential API changes that could further improve the user experience.

We use this to tie environmental fees to products, overall works well. Had a few issues bit support has been great. Without this our site wouldn't work.

Overall, I recommend this app to streamline the process of collecting deposits. It makes it simple for staff to click a button and apply the proper deposits, all with minimal work to set up deposits when creating new products. If I could give 4.5 star, I would! The only negatives: 1. Occasionally, the app glitches on the Close button and it confuses new staff. Not sure why the Close button doesn't work, but it hasn't for a while. 2. Wish we could apply negative deposits to refund customers when they return things! This may be a Shopify limitation, so it might not be fair to ding the app for it, but if it were possible to create a button to streamline returns, that would be ideal. Subtracting out returns as discounts isn't preferable for us, but it's how we manage these returns (which creates extra manual work on the back end for accounting purposes).

It does the job. However I question the value. We do not sell a lot of (cans) so paying $9.99UDS/month = 13.74CDN would be equal to the deposits on 137 cans. If you are using it to pass long the can deposit fee to the customer and segregate it from the cost, it will do this, but it will cost you more at the end if you are selling less than 137cans/ month. I am considering just absorbing the deposit into my costs. It will create savings for the customer and cost me less in the long run.

Unreliable, randomly removes selected products from their rulesets costing our company money while their support team tries to figure out what is happening. Slow on POS devices as well, overall happy to be done using this application. App has a lot of potential, but not quite there yet. Hi, We have reached out countless times and haven't heard back. We have uninstalled this app. We've had multiple issues with fees not being applied at checkout. Most recently, fee rules have been deleting themselves without explanation. Our biggest issue was poor customer support, they have not fixed the issue or gotten back to us. Now looking into other similar apps...

App works just as we need it to and customer service is quick!

The team at Canteen have helped me enable service fee per order on my store, initially had some issues with my theme and they were very helpful in finding workarounds. The app works great and has an easy to follow settings page. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to add custom fees to their store!

Canteen works great for those in the auto industry who need to add core charges to select products. The app is versatile and allows you to add charges to specific variations on a product page instead of all products. The support team is super responsive and can fix most problems with theme integrations relatively quickly. The new V3 of the app is awesome and eliminates the possibility of customers cheating the system and removing the core from the cart. If Shopify allowed the app to work automatically for draft orders instead of having to manually add in the fees, it would be the absolute perfect core charge app!

We needed an app that would allow us to charge container deposit fees in a variety of different formats. We switched from a custom deposit rule that never worked perfectly to Canteen Deposits and Fees and we couldn't be happier. We use a custom Shopify 2.0 theme that caused an installation error, but Sasquatch Studio helped us every step of the way to get the app working correctly. We were trying to find a way to charge a deposit on wine bottles sold both in-store and online. Canteen is exactly what we needed. We had a problem with the chat feature to reach out for help, ok, you should use email to get in touch with them. But when Jordan from Sasquatch Studio contacted us, he helped us not only set up the app. He found another app conflicting with the canteen app and helped us fix all the issues. The app works perfectly even in the cart drawer which other similar apps don't. The app has no delay in applying the deposit, works with ReCharge (not known as an easy to work with app) and Jordan even pushed me in the right direction to make the app only work in Germany with its "special" deposit rules. From 1 star (because the intercom didn't work) to 5 stars for the great support. Thank You

We were looking for a way to incorporate fees associated with selling recyclable bottles, and this app did exactly that! There were a few glitches at the beginning, but the support team was great to work with and didn't give up until the issues were resolved. Love working with them.

I used this app to add a bottel deposit to some of my products. I can highly recommend the app! The support is simply amazing, super fast, friendly and the app is easy to set up! Thanks guys, I was looking for an app like this for quite a while!! :)

The app seems essential but does not work with the Ella theme. Maybe the problem comes from the cart in ajax. You should also be able to apply the rule to all the products in the store without selecting them one by one.

They updated the app a couple days after our trial ended and I left the a 3 star review. The main issue was we can't search for products making it unusable. Seems this is fixed. Because the trial is over i'll need to wait to try again. When we contacted support they were nice and friendly. They couldn't help us at the time and needed to do an entire app update. We had to uninstall a couple days before the end of the free trial. (also we were hoping it would work on POS which we though it was originally listed as compatible. But now it's not) I could have miss read in the beginning. We were searching for something POS compatible so its strange we would have tried this when it wasn't.

Support was very quick to accommodate to our unique parameters. The app works very well and doesn't allow the customer to evade the fees. I tried multiple apps before Canteen and every one of them didn't make the cut. Great job Sasquatch.
