Downpay: Partial Pay & Deposit

REALLY GOOD APP AND GOOD CUSTOMER SUPPORT

Downpay is great! It has allowed my customers ordering made to order items and pay just 50% deposit until their items are manufactured. When I set this up originally the team were really great in writing code to get it working as I needed it to. My business produces made to order designer radiators which are mid to high end in price - so Downpay gives my customers a choice whether to pay up front or not. Even if they don't the choice was still there.

Downpay has exceptional service! Diana has been extremely helpful in answering my questions. This app has been instrumental in helping our customers secure pre-ordered items without having to pay full price upfront.

We used Downpay for about two years to offer partial payments/deposits on our site and it was excellent from start to finish. Their customer support is based in Canada, which made a real difference — every inquiry was answered quickly by someone who actually understood the request, not routed through an overseas queue with a steep communication gap. They handled every customization we needed without friction — small tweaks like adjusting type sizing on the checkout discount line were done quickly and correctly the first time. When we recently decided to stop offering partial payments and uninstalled the app, they proactively removed our custom code so the site wouldn’t break — a level of care most apps don’t bother with at uninstall. Five stars, easily. If we ever need partial payment functionality again, Downpay is who we’d go straight back to.

We saw a significant increase in conversion since implementing Downpay (especially with our high AOV). This is an awesome app, I have a very specific use case where I need to be able to take part payments from two payee's, one consumer the other business. When integrated with accounting software, I can take the consumer side first then later send an invoice to business to complete the order payment. This App enables the front end really really well. Can't speak more highly of customer support particularly Lidija. She actually listens and finds solutions. If you are an Australian store, exposed to Support at Home or NDIS funding models, stop looking, this app is for you

This is an excellent product that allows our store to take deposits for items not yet released which is extremely commonplace in our industry. Our industry is driven largely by preorders (and FOMO) and Shopify does not provide this functionality natively so we are very thankful that Downpay exists.

Downpay solved a critical pain point for our high ticket item sales which has caused a lot of headaches and manual work for our operations team having to email and in some cases call each and every customer in order to get their draft order invoice paid to complete their order. Now with Downpay we can simply vault their card information while communicating when they will be charged their second half balance on their large order, then charge their card when their order is ready in 3 months rather than having to create multiple different orders to complete a single order. Amazing app. I have such a custom, high end product that I desperately needed something like this for many years. When Downpay became an option, I couldn't believe it. Does what it says and provides payment options otherwise not available. Very responsive support.

Down pay App achieved exactly what we needed it to, which was a deposit on future inventory (we kept selling out). By using Downpay we were able to mitigate inventory risks and increase PO's after gauging demand. UI is buttoned up. After the customer initiates the deposit, their system makes it simple to charge the remaining amount from the 'Customers' tab. Support team was awesome to work with. Overall great experience, surprised more people aren't using it.

Great App, helpful staff!

I sell photography workshops with a deposit and final payments due 60 days before the start of the event. I tried many different apps before settling on Downpay as I was trying to save a buck hoping one of the free options would work. In short, they didn't meet my needs. Downpay is the only one that has every feature I needed. It works seamlessly and now I can't imagine not having it. I was spooked by the transaction fees at first, but if you reach out to them for a custom plan they will create a plan that works for you at a reasonable yearly rate with no transaction fees. Support is very responsive as well. Stop looking around, this is the app you want.

So far, this app is just what we needed! We offer florals for weddings and other events, and this app allows us to take a deposit at the time of booking and remaining balance closer to the event date. Too soon to know for sure, but we are confident this will help increase our bookings. Diana was so incredibly helpful in getting the app all set up for us and making sure the wording accurately reflected our specific payment schedule, and helped us find a work around so we can have a payment due X amount of days before shipping/delivery (rather than X amount of days after deposit). She made us feel like we could come back for anything else we needed help with, which is very much appreciated!

I have been using Downpay for a few months, It has been great to be able to take final payments for products with out bothering our customers. We have several unique challenges with our product and the support team has been there to expertly customize the integration when ever needed. The app was fairly easy to setup. I had a few issues with how to take payments but I sent a chat request to their app team and Diana responded within minutes. She offered me some great options and even found a bug in my store that was causing the problem. No app is perfect but awesome customer service makes all things work out in the end. Great product, great support, and flexible development! I provide the so-called Try Before You Buy service. My business model is a process like this; The customer pays a rental fee to try the product, and if the customer decides to purchase it after the trial period, the customer pay the remaining balance, and if the customer does not purchase it, the customer returns it to my store. Before using Downpay, I provided this TBYB service through a partial payment app. The risk of theft is always present, and several stolen transactions have actually occurred. I started looking for an alternative app and found Downpay. As a result, Downpay was a great app for me. Downpay can split a customer's payment. The customer promises to pay the full amount at the time of the first payment, only pays the down payment, and I can collect the remaining balance at my convenience. We can make multiple down payment groups. Define a down payment group and select which products belong to that group. I have created more than 10 groups. It would be nice to be able to manage more easily. By using pre-authorization, we can ensure that the remaining balance is collected. This is a big advantage over partial payment apps. Please note that the authorization period is 7 days (168 hours). Also, the development cycle is fast. Hypehound always listens to customer feedback and actively incorporates it into Downpay. I feel that they value app users very much. I restarted my TBYB service by Downpay and am currently satisfied. The risk of theft is greatly reduced. It has also increased sales by making the purchasing process clearer for customers. If you prodive TBYB that charges a trial fee like mine, Downpay is the best app I think. Lastly, Diana provided excellent support. I really appreciate her. And thank you for providing the world with such a wonderful app!

Wow! The customer support alone is worth using this app. Diana and Denis have helped us think through resolutions for our specific use case, which is taking partial payments for group trips on a travel site. Our main sticking point was needing to be able to set a specific date for the remaining payment to be made that wasn't tied to the original purchase date. DownPay has solved that issue! The app isn't overly engineered, and the integration and training process has been streamlined and simple. We tried multiple other apps before landing on DownPay. I would definitely recommend this app!

Great app! The developers have thought about every little detail. I'm using this app to avoid using the traditional and expensive Buy Now Pay Later services - those take a high percentage cut from your revenues. Just make sure you collect the final payment before you ship the item! Amazing customer service. We have a very in-depth custom order page that pulls a lot of different items together to build out a custom bicycle. We needed a 50% deposit option to help cover our initial costs to start sourcing parts and materials depending on the exact build. There were some initial issues with the interfacing, but the team at Downpay were very helpful and figured out a solution to make sure it worked exactly the way we needed it to. We are so glad we found this app at the last minute before we launched our new pre-order. It provided the option to accept deposits for each order and we had the option to do it as a percentage or a fix amount. Without a doubt fantastic. We have been wanting this feature for a LONG time and were doing it painfully by hand via invoicing. We have high priced items that are handcrafted to order, so it can take a long time between purchase and receipt of the purchase, so we feel good knowing we haven't held all of the customer's money for the entire time. I know I sound like spam but... forget the Affirm installments - use this app! We ditched Affirm due to high fees and this was such a breath of fresh air. Diana took time to video chat with us on all the features, and has been incredibly responsive on emails with questions. We had it pre Shopify 2.0 for a few weeks, and her team installed it beautifully on both that and as a dynamic feature set on the 2.0 theme. Seriously wonderful people and excellent app.

This app is amazing. We started in the BETA version with all the support we needed from the developers. We came up with ideas and also some design issues and the service was beyond all expectations. The results are there. We have more online conversions than we ever expected. Try this out!

For a while, I have been looking for a downpayment service but could not find just the right one for my page. Finally Downpay, was such a great move for my company. Diana and her team are awesome. We are live with Downpay and working great. Used to use a custom checkout page for deposits and now we are integrated with Shopify checkout page to get all the latest integrations and updates. We haven't done a final payment yet, as our products take around 16 weeks from order to delivery, but appears to be working flawlessly and their team even added some new features in a few days to improve the app functions with our products. Support answers emails within minutes and made our site a priority when we flipped to switch on the live site. Would highly recommend as this was a much needed feature for custom made products.
