I've had lots of challenges with this app over the years. It's been a big pain many times and the interface is confusing - confusing to customers and to me, but these things are probably partly because I use USA english. There are some things that don't work very well or at all. But support is pretty fast. Nevertheless, I wish I had a more reliable app. BUT I guess it's very cheap compared to the competition. It reallllly struggles working with ShopPay and I've had a lot of complaints about this. I'm ready to switch out I think. ----------- old review ------------- Working great so far, but I've just started. I sell calendars, so I need yearly subscriptions, which I was not able to find previously elsewhere (tho it may exist now). Support has been very helpful and this app seems to have TONS of features and seems reasonably priced. I'm not 100% sure if the subscriptions will work perfectly yet, as I have several months to wait for real-live subscription orders to come in. But I've been very impressed with all the customizations possible.
--- Update Feb 2025 I just realized they updated their app offering different tiers. I've been with them almost 10 years. They put me on the top tier ($20/mo) when I'm only using bottom tier level of service ($5/mo). But I didn't even know they did this! Very frustrating! And my reports have started failing too! Maybe avoid? Also, unlike I said in previous reviews, I see nowhere to get support, they removed that! Very disappointed. --- UPDATE 10/7/20 Actually, I asked them to do something very simple. I simply want to reverse order the report by the date. Support said they would have to do that for me. Great. I assumed it would take 5 minutes. After realizing oh, they didn't do it yet, he said it would be 3 hours. Meh, okay, makes sense. Even tho it's one silly line of SQL, they should just offer that option as part of the app. I finally get an email *the next day* saying it's done. I test it and the report is indeed sorted descending, BUT THE DATA IS ALL WRONG! This really pisses me off. This is the smallest, simplest thing I'm asking (from my perspective, I understand I am biased), and they take a day to do it, then mess up my report so now I have to recreate it. This really pisses me off. But, on the plus side the support chat is very responsive! --- Old review from 10/6/20 I used this to send sales reports to my partners. It was a bit tricky to figure out, and it still is, BUT the support was SUPER RESPONSIVE and helpful! It's been years since I touched the app, but the reports have been very reliable and well worth it! I was just adding a new report (after years), and I was having trouble with a new feature, and the chat support WAS SUPER QUICK AND SOLVED MY PROBLEM QUICKLY! Excellent! I'm going to start making more reports for myself. Great app, great price (I think I pay $15 a month, I started early w/ them, they may have changed their price by now, IDK)

Sir, we have a new version of Data Export, which allows you to apply instant filters and sort to the reports. You can apply multiple filters for fields that are present or not present in the report. Thank you!
Mailchimp has really gone down hill since they were acquired by Intuit. This app is terrible because it is now spamming my new customers with double-opt-in emails - some customers get those emails every day for a week straight, even though double-opt-in should be deactivated. The app is broken, it HAS BEEN broken for like 2 months, and they still haven't bothered to fix it. This makes me very upset. And I pay a lot for their services. I no longer feel it is worth it.

I was with Referral Candy for like ... 8 or so years. It was great that they handled the payments to my affiliates. But it was annoying that they took 3.75% off the first 3 sales of someone who was referred once, even if those 3 sales spanned across 8 years! And that they didn't have an option to create more than one referral level. And that they filled up my shopify with discount codes constantly, and badgered my affiliates without me really consenting to that - that is, they would email them to invite them, even after I had turned off that feature. I am annoyed that the referral alternative app I've chosen is not as easy to pay affiliates, but it has more features and is not sucking my blood or harassing my customers. ALSO! Its report of referral sales is very misleading! only on further research did I learn that some customers who have been customers for years, when they make a purchase, even if it's past their 3rd purchase, RC still counts this as a referred purchase. So, on someone's 7th purchase, they record this as a referred purchase - so those report emails I get make it seem like my referral app is working great, but in reality I just did a good job of keeping a customer that I got once through this app a LONG time ago.

Hey Jesse, we’ve been trying to contact you these last 2 weeks to try and resolve all the concerns you brought up. Since we haven't heard back, I wanted to try and address them here and perhaps have the opportunity to discuss them directly with you. “..they took 3.75% off the first 3 sales of someone who was referred once, even if those 3 sales spanned across 8 years!” - A referred customer is someone who may go on to continue purchasing from your store for life. We consider all their purchases as "referred" because they may not have followed through with their purchase without the incentive offered through the referral program. And from all those referred purchases we only charge commissions on the first three. More details can be found here (https://help.referralcandy.com/support/solutions/articles/47001056253-is-commission-charged-on-all-purchases-that-a-referred-friend-makes-) “..they didn't have an option to create more than one referral level.” I can see how having more flexibility in terms of rewards can be helpful, especially since you have thousands of affiliates. I’ll bring it up with the team. “..badgered my affiliates without me really consenting to that - that is, they would email them to invite them, even after I had turned off that feature.” Sending too many emails is definitely a bad experience, I apologize for the inconvenience this caused your customers. This is easily resolved by toggling the controls in the email settings page of your dashboard (https://help.referralcandy.com/support/solutions/articles/47001155651-email-settings) so I was hoping we could dig deeper into what happened. “..some customers who have been customers for years, when they make a purchase, even if it's past their 3rd purchase, RC still counts this as a referred purchase.” “..on someone's 7th purchase, they record this as a referred purchase” This should not be the case. As mentioned previously, commission is only charged on the first three purchases that a referred friend makes. -- Jaime R.
Once I got ReCharge setup, I had all kinds of issues with the backend - the subscription management tool that customers use. It was some really strange behavior that made the manager un-usable for my customers. And I tried to get help on this, but they just said "yeah, that must be a problem with your theme." I used the "Motion" paid theme from Shopify, with very little customization. I'm surprised their app would have issues with what seems like a fairly standard shopify theme. To be fair, I did not really try to follow up and get their help in solving these issues. So, rather than try to figure it all out. I was already annoyed with some other aspects of this tool, I'm going to try out the bold subscription app. There were several aspects that I was like: "really?" One example is that the customer get's an email with a link to setup manage their subscription - an ugly green button, and the link is completely broken, it just takes them to my homepage!! Support said: "Oh, this is because you don't have accounts setup on shopify" - who has accounts setup on shopify!? There was no warning of this ugly button or it's error. I guess that's what testing is for - but this just doesn't seem like an enterprise level solution with little issues like that. To their credit, support was pretty quick an answering some questions, but others when they said they would get back to me, they still haven't. Furthermore! As I'm trying to delete the app, I'm finding code left-over in my theme that wasn't deleted when I deleted the app. THIS IS SO ANNOYING!!! Apps should be required to fully delete the code they add! To be fair, lots of apps do this, I think. And, thankfully, at least in this instance, the put their name in a comment before and after - which might be more than some other apps do. Update: I contacted support about uninstall and they did send me a link to some docs on how to uninstall, but it was not at all extensive or helpful in finding the fixes in the code I had to change. I just downloaded the theme and opened the folder in Sublime (free text editor) and was able to search the folder to easily remove about 12 sections of code left by ReCharge. Again, to be fair, many other apps may have this issue. Still it's very annoying.
Extremely complicated and I could not get it to do what I needed it to do. It probably wouldn't be so complicated if they had useful support articles, or an explanation somewhere of how the app works! The support articles seem to be out of date, at least for the interface I was looking at. What is a CSP? Why does NOTHING happen when I create a price group? How does install really work? I'm a technical person, but I wrangled with this app for way longer than I expected to. Big waste of time for me. But it might be great for some people who can get it working.
