Its been very simple and convenient to use so far, love it
They haven’t been able to fix one of the major issues for at least a year now. If a customer purchases 2 or more large files, the download simply fails — they can’t download the files, so they think they’ve been scammed. This has caused a huge amount of unnecessary work, as well as numerous PayPal disputes and Stripe chargebacks, because customers aren’t receiving the products they paid for. I’ve reported this problem to support about 15–20 times, but they keep giving vague answers without any real solution, insisting that everything works fine on their end. The last time, they managed to figure out that the issue mainly occurs when customers try to download multiple files at once, and their “solution” was to tell me to disable the “Download All” function — meaning customers would have to download each file individually. That is absurd, and it’s not a solution at all. I expect a real fix for this issue, because it’s been a year with no resolution and I’ve already lost hundreds of dollars because of it. I’m also requesting some form of compensation, as the app hasn’t been functioning properly for an entire year — and since we’re talking about around 4,000 files, migrating to another app would be an enormous amount of work.

Hi there, We are very sorry that you had a negative experience using the application. Currently, our application stores files on cloud storage, and we have established CDN caching in most regions worldwide, ensuring data speeds in most areas. Regarding the "Download All" feature slowing down downloads, this is a documented issue as it requires files to be compressed into zip files, which increases download times. We are currently investigating a solution to this problem; if unsuccessful, we may decide to remove this feature entirely to avoid negatively impacting the user experience. Thank you, LDT Team

I really like this app, and it's run by a very responsive and responsible team. Bonnie and Cade were my most recent customer service agents, but all have been stellar. They take suggestions to heart, and more than one of my suggestions have been implemented which makes a customer feel like their input is important. It is flexible and easy to use. Definitely one of the best Digital Downloads Apps on Shopify!
haven't tryed the app but i here it will do what i need and work well with my shopify store
Easy to use and versatile. Allows me to connect docs/eBooks via shareable link from my own cloud storage or upload them to the app. Easy licensee key use. I'm able to include a link to instructions or a link back to a different product for promotion. It integrated old orders with archived product pages allowing customer purchase history to access previous downloads. #1 Reason we use it We use one product page to sell one-off docs that change to a different doc when restocking. Most apps could not allow us to keep the docs original to the order purchase in the customer order history so they can redownload if needed. Most other apps, only offer the option to "update" the order history with a new doc. This meant we had to create a different product page for every restock of a one-off doc, even though the product page is identical. (NOT IDEAL) This app solved this problem easily. We can restock one product page with a different one-off doc and the order history retains the original doc for redownload. The customer service is top tier. They quickly communicated with us extensively pre-purchase and after for instillation. We never had any issues with the installation, just questions to reassure we were setting it up properly for our unique needs. The app has clear instructions built-in with multiple options for use. We've used several other aps, like the owl one, which we dropped because the app would miss purchases in an order and failed to deliver them to the customer. Never had that problem with LDT. Highly Recommend!

The support team is fast and truly listens. Bonnie and her coworkers have been very kind, and they are going to add a new feature after my request.
I was on a paid tier and it was a decent app, but they changed the tier benefits without any notice, so I was paying for benefits I thought I had but wasn't receiving. When I reached out to the developer, they refused to resolve the issue. They want me to pay more than double the cost I've been paying in order to receive the benefits I signed up for. The poor business practice and lack of transparency made me lose all trust in the app/developer.

I'm updating this because I'm now moving off Shopify's platform. My LDT subscription renewed for the year, and I messaged the team asking if it could be refunded. Answer: yes, no problem. Quality customer service, and a quality product. You can't go wrong.
I switched from Sendowl because I needed more than 1gb of file storage and LDT had - more file storage - a customer download portal all for a cheaper price. The app is great overall and works fine, customer service is great.... HOWEVER, there are a lot of little annoying things that stop this app from being perfect: 1) You can't edit all your email templates from settings, you have to scavenger hunt to find each one. 2) When you update a digital product you can send an update message by email, but it forces you to change the entire template just for that one instance. Sendowl was very simple. you had your base email template and when you send the update you could add a custom message that would only apply to that one email. 3) You can’t reset downloads for customers' orders. There is only an "add extra download" button where you have to give them an extra download. But if you give the customer too many, you have to subtract the number of downloads to the number you want the customer to have. Sometimes it just doesn’t work, so you have to contact customer service, and then customer service seems to only be available on European time…. like come on, just make a reset download button. 4) Their portal page is great but has very little customizability…some of which customer service can help with……but yea These are some of the major ones. All in all, after comparing all the other top rated digital download apps, LDT is definitely the best balance of price and features. I would say Sky pilot would be be one step up in terms of features and complete package, but they expensive af….so *update 8.18.2024 - the removed the feature the allows you send an updated version of your digital downloads from the starter plan. Now you have to pay double for that feature
So far so good! I've only been using the app for less than 24 hours, but I've been very happy with it's integration into my shopify store.
I am using the app now for a few months, and while I had a rocky start with it, the customer service team was always helpful and great in assisting, explaining how to solve issues and answering questions. The app works amazing. If you sell digital files in your shop, this app is your choice! It even put watermarks onto PDF files automatically, and you can customise the.
I tried another app before this one, and it was a complete nightmare. I had so many issues and frustrations. But I'm so glad I found this app! It's user-friendly, smooth, and does exactly what I need. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable solution!
We have been using LDT Digital Downloads for several months now, and we are so pleased! This app does everything we need it to for digital items sold on our shop. And anytime we have had to contact support, they have been very responsive and took our suggestions into consideration and implemented them to make our experience even better! This app is well worth the price for what we need with digital products.

Cade and Bonny have been terrific in assisting set up and some minor issues that needed resolution after a quick departure from our previous provider who raised their prices astronomically. Strongly recommend this app as a cost effective alternative to others on the market. Easy and intuitive to use.
We sell Digital License keys (an upgrade pass) for a game on our site. This does the job that we need. -Sends the codes to the customer via email -Creates a dedicated page on our site where customers can search by their order number with email/phone to view their code at any time -Displays a link to access the codes on the Thank you page Setup was fairly intuitive and straightforward. Pricing is quite reasonable.
Not every download App is well organised, simple to use, and reasonably priced, and when we requested links in the product page More Actions ... done immediately thx to Cade @ LDT Team.
Get app! Effective, efficient and great customer service. Would love a dashboard or ability to favorite license tags to make refilling easier.

Love this app, upon reading instructions I was able to quickly understand how to set-up a free printable download with certain products. I just was not able to add a free printable to a entire collection without adding the items each individually. Hope to see upgrades such as creating a Digital Collection to add digital files some free and some with cost associated. Great job with app.
