Edit. July 26. Saved my life again after Sidekick made changes to my product pages with unintended consequences. Reverting to a backup theme no use in that situation but Talon was there for me:-) I have always been nervous about the fact that Shopify does not do a backup of the store, or at least not one that can be accessed by the owner in the event of anything going wrong. Some of the apps that do this are quite costly for a small store, also with some of them you have no idea whether they have worked until you find you have to do a restore. What I like about this app is that you can see any part of your store, be it blog posts or products or whatever and restore at the click of a button. So, it's not just a handy app to have should disaster strike but also allows you to reinstall a previous version of sections if you have been editing them etc. Any app is only as good as its support and I'm happy to say the support here is excellent. Michael was delving into a problem for me as soon as I notified him of it and in the end discovered that it was a fault with Shopify and not the website. I highly recommend this app for anyone who wants peace of mind. Thanks for taking the time to report the success using the app for a second time. I'm super glad to have your shop using the app. It can be difficult to know exactly what other apps actually do to your shop - where they modify things. One of my goals with the app is to make that apparent through increased visibility here. Not many people write these reviews and even fewer provide real use case details. So far, I am extremely impressed with how fast and functional this app is. I tested it by deleting a few random products and blog posts to see if it would pick up on the changes, and it immediately logged exactly what happened. With all the freelancers, employees, and third-party apps interacting with Shopify stores nowadays, you really need to protect yourself with 'insurance' like this. While I practice safe habits and haven't had a major emergency yet, having this app gives me incredible peace of mind. I hope I never truly need to use it, but I'm glad it's there. Happy to hear it! It's true that the software world seems a little less stable than it used to be. I'm glad I can be here as a backstop. Anyway, I really appreciate you taking the time to write this and your trust in my app. I don't get a lot of reviews so it's a big deal for me when I see that notification.
How can I perform a system restore from the latest backup? I can't find where to enable system restore. Also, I can't find where to ask for help. atte stgo castillo desde santiago chile Merry Christmas! Restoration are handled in the "Backup Records" part of the app. They are automatically restorable as soon as the first backup is finished - no need to enable them. Any record in the list can be restored back to an old version by clicking on the record to see it's details. There, you'll see a difference view of the latest change against what is currently in shopify. On that page, you can also select which version you'd like to view in the dropdown. And, at the bottom, there is a 'restore this record' button that will restore the version selected. Alternatively, you can choose to restore a group of records within the list view by selecting multiple records within the view (via the checkboxes or select all for the entire category). When selected, you can choose "Restore records to date" which will allow you to choose the date you want to restore the selected records to. The best is probably the help navigation within the app. At the bottom of the frequently asked questions is a help form. That form's messages are sent directly to me, Michael, the developer of this app. I answer as soon as I am able which is usually very fast.
We've tried other backup apps. This one is the most professional. It's simple to work with. And the price is fair. Very impressed. It made my day to read this! Highly recommend Automatic Backups by Talon - well priced back up app that earned it's keep yesterday when I accidentally deleted several high traffic blog posts. Customer service was excellent too, as I'd deleted the blog they were under, so Michael put a patch in place for me to very quickly to restore the posts. Great value and great customer service.

Works seamlessly, UI is very simple and is the cheapest backup solution out here. Props to this app.

We received and responded to your emails sent on the 13th and the 14th. In fact, I responded personally to both of them on the day we received them. It sounds like you did not receive my responses. It's likely that they were spam filtered by your email provider. The responses are from "michael-support@taloncommerce.com".
So far the App installation and automatic backups have been easy and seamless. It does provide great peace of mind.
Doesn't seem to backup orders. You'd think orders would be the most important thing on a shopping site.

Update: I'm changing my reply to reflect that the app can now indeed back up orders optionally, but could not at the time of the review. For a long time, the app did not back up customer or order records for three reasons: 1. This type of data is very sensitive, and many shops do not want apps to have access to it. The app still does not request access to these records unless you explicitly turn it on (still). 2. Order records in Shopify cannot be fully restored by any app because details such as payment information are hidden from all apps. The complete record simply is not available. Customer records, likewise, cannot full restore customer login passwords for the same reason - no app can restore these as no app has access to them. 3. Completed order records are not deletable, only archivable. This means that the only reason you would need such a feature is if Shopify themselves lost the record, which, to my knowledge, hasn't happened. These reasons remain true. Still, having a backup of the data that apps can access is comforting to many businesses, and the feature was often requested. Therefore, I implemented it as an optional feature.
It is simple and seamless and gives us confidence that all of the components of the shop can be recovered if there is any problem
I like it. Simple and to the point without a lot of fluff. Backs me up daily and does a nice job of compartmentalizing [Yay! I finally get to use that word in a sentence!] certain sections of the site.
I can't express how perfect this App is for Backups. The UI is great, its super simple to use and setup, gives a comparison of previous backups and current backups in a GitHub like compare, and its very affordable. As our store grows and more users are making changes, the peace of mind having backups in the event of mistakes is a must have. Get this insurance... great job with this!
A vital app for my online store as it backs up almost everything especially the theme page codings and can easily go back to the versions I need to.
The app is fantastic and product uploading moves seamlessly. Telephone followup is great. Recently 3/12/2020 I had hundreds of files, photos and other pertinent business materials changed on my stores and Automatic Backups had me covered completely and professionally. It works. It's priced right. Hopefully I never need it to do a restore but for peace of mind it's great to have this in place. I know how easy it is to goof things up when you add some other app and try it out then remove it and it leaves things a mess in your store. Been there. Done that. Got Talon for backups!
This app works just as described. It gives me real piece of mind for a low price every month to know that all my site files are being backed up, not just the data files but the theme files as well

This app work seamlessly with Shopify. My backups are automatically done and it's one less thing I have to worry about.
This is a good basic backup app. Free product version works, helps with any mistakes during product modification. Looking at moving to the paid version, will update once i see what that looks like. Not all the bells and whistles that the app recommended by Shopify Plus has. Cost on the basic paid version will be about 4% of what the other app would have cost us. No customer or order backups but it gets all the main components.
Does exactly what it is supposed to, gives us some peace of mind.
This app does a great job. Wish I'd had it a week or so back, when I accidentally deleted a batch of pages from my shop.

So far so good - I appreciate the free version to backup my product info. May be upgrading at some point to get it all backed up. Everything is well organized in this app - easy to use.
Very easy to setup and very easy to use :) Much more affordable than other backup apps. Perfect for our needs.
We have two backup apps installed for maximum protection, this one and one other. Both apps are excellent. Talon does a great job with individual blog recovery (we have tested this as we prep our blogs) and individual product recovery, which we have used multiple times to experiment with different product descriptions and changes. We use another excellent app from this developer as well, the recently viewed app is also great.
Everyone should have a back up for their store! I was about to attempt a mass export/import of a change to my listings and realized how important it would be to have a back up if things went sideways. Also appreciated the privacy concerns about not saving customer and order information. I enter that data to my own books every month, so that part wasn't needed for me. I have the paid version. Very happy I found your app and I'm more than happy to pay for it - the price is reasonable for the peace of mind. Thanks, Diane
