This is good, requires a little learning. Would be great if it could take other actions additional to answering, for example, making a note on the order if it refers to one, or maybe a flow that takes the chat and emails it to increase exposure, particularly where answers can be harder.
as a 17 year Shopify owner the app works great and does help our customers find what they are looking for. I am still programming it as we learn but all good news. We would like to add product photos to customers looking for a styles look. Thank you, Cristofer
This app has the potential to be a useful tool but as forewarned, it can make mistakes, and it does. I have had to disable it due to repeated mistakes that have negatively impacted my bottom line.
So easy for my customers to message me and I love that it informs me immediately, unlike an email.
i am wondering if you review all our previous replys to clients and then use them as a guide for you AI RESPONSEs i hope so
Every store must have the shopify inbox app. it eliminates 80% of time spent answering customer questions, improves search and discovery, eliminates 80% of the time spent searching for things, and it should become the central point for interaction for everything as intelligence increases. I am improving it everyday as much as I can because it can handle queries beautifully. It used to be really bad, that's why i preffered to have it turned off for 2 years. Before, you would receive notification for a new chat long after the customer left the chat but now, they are instant.
I think it's a good tool for the job. I'm learning how to use it. Keep up the good work.
Still early days in the use and development process. Be great to have this connected up to our customer service email and a way for a conversation to convert into an email in our customer service email for further AI CRM training
This was better before the log in-button, now we can't answer any of our costumer's questions because they don't want to leave their email

Hi there - you can change the settings to what works for your store by going into Admin > Sales channels > Inbox > Collect customer details and choose between the options available. We find merchants who configure this based on their unique needs get better results.
As of Sept 21st, 2026, this app is f*****k now. They added and bright purple "sign in" button right in the customers faces which cannot be removed. This was working beautifully for years, now I spend time and search for another app.

Sorry to hear. We are hearing from several merchants that buyers who Sign in with Shop convert better because of better personalization, plus there is a chance to recover abandoned carts via Shop app for those buyers.
How do I remove this piece of rubbish from my store? Sorry, I meant to say garbage from my store. Do you bother to test your apps at all, or are you so in love with AI that you think it doesn't matter. The developer has come back saying I can turn off this app anytime, which again isn't true. Cannot belive how sloppy these Shopify apps are becoming

Hi Inbox is an app that you can uninstall at anytime, or turn off within your Theme Editor.
This app has immense untapped potential, I just wish Shopify had reached out to Store Owners for understanding more about customer support. AI agent is great but without a way to handover the conversation to a human agent, I dont think there is a way I can use it 24x7. In fact, I have made the hard decision of turning it off completely. There is a report named Storefront agent conversations and feedback, even if there are negative feedbacks in the report - there is no way to pin point the conversation where customers have left the feedback, this is shocking. Whats the point of the report if we cant action on the insights. Please fix these things, open up the Inbox API, let store owners read through the conversations and make informed decisions based on insights derived from this support avenue. If not, whats the point of all this?

Hi thanks for the review. The AI agent always shows buyers an option to connect to staff after every message so buyers can click it whenever they'd like. Additionally the AI agent proactively offers to connect to staff when it cannot handle requests. Also within the Inbox app you will see where the buyer had a thumbs up/down/add to cart etc. We keep adding more features and are finding the AI agent particularly helpful for merchants to improve conversion when the merchant is otherwise offline. While the choice is yours and there are many options for apps you can use, we hope you will give it another chance.
The AI agent is horrible and cannot be turned off.

Hi sorry you are having trouble. You can turn off the Agent at any time by going into Shopify Admin > Sales Channels > Inbox where on the right you will see a toggle to turn off the Agent (amongst other settings to configure Inbox).
Have been using Shopify Inbox for years with no issues. The latest update is completely unusable. No way to customise the look of it properly, no back buttons for customers to return to, the design makes no sense and there is too much information to fill in, in order to start the chat. Customer contact has dropped close to zero after this update defeating the whole point of having the website chat. Please provide an option to revert back to the old version.
Developer reply ·
Thank you for using Shopify Inbox for years, and we’re sorry this update disrupted customer contact. You can reduce the information required to start a chat under Sales channels > Inbox > Chat settings > Collect customer details. Select Require name and email for an experience closer to the previous Inbox, or Allow anonymous chats. To customize the chat’s size, colors, font, and other styling, click the pencil icon on the same page to open the Theme editor. We also appreciate your feedback about the missing back buttons and confusing navigation. We’re working to improve this experience.
Me parece una app bastante funcional. Aun me falta explorar varios procesos de gestión. Pero hasta este momento, me ha agradado esta app. Gracias!
Bom dia, Muito bom, recomendo!

It's overkill for people to reach you... Turning it off.
Very pleasant and easy to use; the AI responses are scary accurate
Shopify Inbox should be connected to the major sales channels of Email, SMS, WhatsApp. This app isn't designed correctly because it should be integrated with the channels that Shopify Messaging is using. Ideally when you send a promotion, you can just allow customers to message you back and convert them directly in chat. The PMs here should look at how ManyChat works and build a more streamlined integration between Shopify Messaging and Inbox. This should also integrate with other sales channels like FB Messenger or IG DMs. There should be automation features where you can send leads to the cart directly from a DM.
If the customer sent a message without leaving an email or a phone number, we cannot follow up with the customer once he/she went offline. For this reason alone, I stopped using inbox. The problem above is solved on 26 Aug 2026. We are back on shopify inbox again. Just one thing, when the customer went offline, and received an email to view the converstaion, if the customer is using another device and click on view the converstation, he/she will not be able to see any previous messages. Not a big issue.

On sign-in: a new setting now lets customers start a chat by sharing just their name and email instead of signing in, like the previous Inbox. It is available now under Sales channels > Inbox > Chat settings > Collect customer details. Choose Require name and email there (the other options are Require customers to sign-in and Allow anonymous chats). One note: this applies to chats with your team. The AI agent still answers anonymous visitors instantly, by design, so customers get help in seconds even while you are offline. We default to sign-in because it confirms the customer owns the email they leave, so your replies reach a real person, but the choice is yours.
Hello, I would like to report an issue with the Shopify Inbox chat widget that started occurring after the latest app update. Issue Description: Device / Orientation: Mobile smartphones in portrait orientation. Behavior: When clicking the chat bubble icon to open the chat, the chat window does not open, and the chat bubble icon completely disappears from the screen. Theme: Taiga. Additional Details: The widget functions correctly on desktop, tablets, and smartphones in landscape mode. The issue appears to be related to how the iframe container height and responsive breakpoints are handled on mobile portrait view. Please forward this report to the Inbox development team so a patch or fix can be released.
has this app been fixed ? im not installing it until its fixed

The app is great it does what its meant to do and i am satisfied.
Overall, Shopify Inbox works pretty well and I’m happy with it. The main issue is the z-index/layering of the chat activation button. The chat button often overlaps or covers other important elements on the storefront, such as the cart drawer, Quick Add buttons, and email pop-up windows. It would be great if Shopify could provide better control over the chat button’s z-index or update its default layering behavior so it doesn’t interfere with other storefront elements. Everything else is pretty good — this is just a small but quite annoying UI issue that I hope can be improved in a future update.
The new AI version of this app is not as good as the previous version. Despite creating several custom FAQ answers detailing the store location and having it select the correct answer in the test feature, I can not get the AI to give the store address when asking from the customer side of the app.
1. Loading is far too slow! If the network is slightly worse, the loading speed is 3-5 times slower than the old version! 2. The FAQ section only appears when customer service agents are offline, rendering it practically useless; under normal circumstances, it merely displays static, meaningless product images. 3. The AI chatbot fails to answer questions even when the relevant information exists in the Knowledge Base; it only responds if the details are explicitly described on the product page itself. This is extremely inconvenient for listing products via modular plugins. 4. It is no longer possible to customize the underlying behavior of the AI chatbot (e.g., you cannot customize the automated response triggered when handing off the conversation to a human agent). 5. The inability to customize the AI's core logic means it acts foolishly when encountering unfamiliar questions and delivers stiff, unnatural responses; optimization relies entirely on Shopify code adjustments rather than allowing for direct customization of the AI's persona or behavior.

Thank you for the detailed list. The core issue you raised, no email means no identification and no delivered replies, is what we fixed. A new Inbox setting lets customers share their name and email to start a chat, like the previous Inbox, so conversations connect to a real contact again. It is rolling out to all stores now under Sales channels > Inbox > Chat settings > Collect customer details. Choose Require name and email there (the other options are Require customers to sign-in and Allow anonymous chats). One note: this applies to chats with your team. The AI agent still answers anonymous visitors instantly, by design, so customers get help in seconds even while you are offline. We default to sign-in because it confirms the customer owns the email they leave, but you can now choose the simpler path. Your notes on SKUs and split conversations are with the team.
BLOCK SENDER FEATURE SORELY NEEDED. The same person spams me over and over and all Shopify Inbox lets you do is block the conversation. Absurdly useless!!!
Was a 1-star, edited back to 4-star! Shopify has fixed the customer log-in requirement! HURRAY! Now we have an option to collect Name & Email only. This is a great move Shopify. Only room for improvement would be handoff from AI agent to Human, we turned it off only due to not knowing what the agent was up to - otherwise it actually did everything great.

Thanks, and following up on my email: there is now a middle option, not just the sign-in toggle. A new Inbox setting lets customers share their name and email to start a chat without signing in, like the old Inbox, so you get contact details for after-hours follow-up without adding login friction. We default to sign-in because it confirms the customer owns the email they leave, but you now have both paths.
