I only have good things to say about this app and their customer service. Always speedy and helps us even outside of their scope. Their app does what it is supposed to do and beyond. It locks the public view out of the wholesale pricing and information.

Hello! I'm sorry this was such a frustrating experience, and thank you for letting us know how it went. On support: we do our best to reply to every merchant within 24 hours, and often much sooner. In this case a teammate replied about five hours after you first wrote in, and confirmed that Locksmith had been fully removed and was no longer having any effect on your store. I'm sorry that still felt like a long wait — with a live storefront and a page you can't unlock, five hours is five hours, and I understand the frustration. For anyone reading this who finds a page still locked after removing Locksmith: Locksmith does have its own code removal process, but once it's deleted from your apps list it no longer has permission to access your theme, which prevents it from removing its own code. To clear everything out, reinstall Locksmith, run the uninstall process from the app's "Help" page (or disable the app from its settings page), and then remove it from your apps list. Our full guide is here: https://www.locksmith.guide/basics/removing-locksmith One more thing worth knowing: your browser saves copies of pages it has already loaded so they open faster next time. If it saved a copy of a page while that page was locked, it can keep showing you the locked version even after the lock is gone. Locksmith provides an elegant solution to make parts of your store more private and/or secure. It's technically sound, and the team provides rapid attention when needs or issues arise. It works if your needs are simple or if you have complicated things you want to lock up. I've worked in enterprise systems for a long time and am quite impressed by this tool.
Great app does what it say, support team is very helpful and fix's any issues you might have or point you in the right path. Also thank you Tristan for you help and fixing my issues and your support.

After i've uninstalled it, some code was still present in my theme, and it was showing error for customers that found me via google. They could not access products at all, it was showing error. I had to install the app, disable it in the settings, and then uninstall again. Lost a lot of money because of that.
Great for two reasons: 1) The app works and is very easy to implement. Does exactly what is needed. 2) The "pay what feels good" pricing method is great and they are actually open to reasonable pricing suggestions. We suggested another price, still reasonable, with our explanation why we felt it was fair. Very quickly, we could come to an agreement about a monthly price that suits both sides. Would recommend this app. Great app, great support.
DO NOT USE. We tested this app with a select group of VIP Pros for two months but ultimately decided against it due to the steep pricing structure. After canceling our subscription, our website immediately experienced significant issues. It took our IT team three full days attempting to remove all the leftover CSS. Eventually, the damage was so extensive that we had no choice but to duplicate our theme entirely.

Hello! It looks like Locksmith was removed from your apps list before Locksmith’s code removal process was run. I’m really sorry for this experience, and I can definitely understand how frustrating this must have been. We really appreciate you letting us know how things went. Locksmith does have a code removal process. However, after Locksmith is removed from the apps list, it no longer has permission to access your theme, which prevents it from removing its own code. For anyone reading this who finds themselves in this situation: to remove all of Locksmith's code from your theme, reinstall Locksmith and then run the uninstall process from the Locksmith app’s “Help” page, or disable the app from the app’s settings page. You'll then be able to safely remove Locksmith from your apps list. Locksmith is exactly what we needed for our wholesale store. They have recently added functions that are even more helpful, so I appreciate them always working to offer the best options. We get a lot from the low cost it is given at.The customer service is excellent, and a shout out to Erica for always giving me clear information on what she is doing and instructions for what I need to do.

I would recommend this app. The app developer work with you to figure out if/how this app can work for your store or not. Keep in mind you may need a few days to get it dialed 100%, but the devs will work to deliver you a working solution.
Darn Locksmith for being too good! Due to Shopify''s fee structure on sales, I subscribed to a higher plan than I probably needed. Which meant that I was placed into a higher tier than I'd hoped for Locksmith. The dilemma is, I couldn't bring myself to reach out to ask for a lower price due to how well their plug-in works! You see, I offer custom products that I only want people to be able to add to their carts (since I despise invoicing as I also have an expansive catalog) AFTER I send them back a proof of what I'd be making for them. Locksmith gives me the peace of mind of protecting my custom products from ordering ahead of a request which is invaluable. It also works with Shopify's app which of all the plug-ins I've had to subscribe to, is the only one. Alls this to say, if you need to restrict products, I HIGHLY recommend Locksmith as it's been invaluable to my sanity and business model!
The support is excellent. When I was struggling with something, the team did not just explain what was happening and how to fix it, they actually DID the fix for me and fast! Outstanding customer service.

Updated: Thank you for a very kind reply. I have updated my review due to the nice reply. However, the problem still remains after I click on the hide features which you are referring to. Old review: This app has been very expensive for us!!! The app allows one to make a locked shop. However, the products in that locked shop are not hidden. We tried the app for 2 weeks where we had a locked shop, but during those weeks we experienced a drop in sales of 20k USD. We wondered why this happened. Turned out people could find the locked store in Shopify search and of course people did not want to buy our normal products when they could find the cheaper products in the locked store. Until hiding the products and the locked site, I would not recommend this app.

Hello! I understand the frustration of discovering that your wholesale products were visible in search results - that's a significant issue that impacted your business. I want to help address this, and I'm sorry you've had this experience. Locksmith does include features to hide products from search results and collection listings, but these need to be specifically enabled. Currently, these aren't enabled on your locks. To prevent wholesale products from appearing in regular store searches, you'll want to: 1. Enable the "Hide this product from search results and other lists" option in your lock settings 2. For additional protection, enable "Hide from sitemaps" (this uses Shopify's native SEO controls) I've added some extra trial days to your account if you'd like to test these features. Locksmith, particularly Erica in the support team, were extremely helpful in helping to get the app configured as we needed. We were without our developer during the setup and they stepped in and helped a huge amount The app itself has worked brilliantly for us and prevents customers from adding an item from a certain collection to the cart without first adding a one of a group of products.

Terrible experience with this app. Firstly, the private link cannot be used in Klaviyo, so did not work as intended as for its promotional purpose. Now the apps installation has made our Shop sales profile become unapproved stating: Your Online Store is currently using password control or age verification app(s). To meet the requirements to Sell on Shop, please uninstall these apps. This is a catastrophic issue to be caused by using this app and is a massive regret in doing so.

To start, I'd like to address the Shop App issue, for you and for anyone else who reads this: Please note that if the Shop App is an important part of the traffic and sales on your store, you may not want to install Locksmith, or any other access control app, because the Shop App will stop functioning. The Shop App have some requirements for using their app. One of those requirements is that the store may not use any access control apps. This includes Locksmith, and any other apps that conditionally restrict access or "gate" the store. You can read the requirements for the Shop App, currently at this url: https://help.shopify.com/en/manual/online-sales-channels/shop/eligibility/requirements This is something which is out of our hands, since it's not a requirement we set. Because we know this is important, we make this a major heading in our Agreement page. This agreement must be accepted when the app is installed and before it can be used. You can find the text of that here: https://www.locksmith.guide/policies/usage-agreement Using a Locksmith secret link with mailing lists services like Klaviyo can sometimes result in access being denied, and it's usually a minor formatting issue. It looks like we were able to offer you a fix, but at that point you had noticed that the Shop App was inactive, and needed to remove the app. Locksmith secret links are often used in mailing lists, but they may need to be double checked for formatting. Mailing list emails can sometimes alter the link in a way that results in access being denied, and double checking that the URL parameters are formatted correctly will get things working. I purchased this app after using 4 days of the 15 day trial period. Coming in, I had three specific goals in mind for my wholesale store. I read the articles provided, added the locks and keys as described and it didn't work. After several back and forth emails with Tristan, he pointed out my errors, I corrected them and we had two locks working. More emails, he sent line numbers of code in my theme where manual changes needed to be made. Third lock is now in place. The locks I wanted were implemented, the level of support provided to a trial user was exceptional - including messages received over a weekend. I'm a customer now.
The support for this app is literally unreal. The guys from Locksmith have guided me at every step of the way and have always made me feel confident and supported. The app itself is absolutely amazing. There is nothing that it can’t do. They have thought about everything and that makes everything so so simple to implement. If you need to lock products, THIS IS THE APP! You won’t go wrong
The Locksmith team is incredibly helpful. I needed some help with perhaps the easiest coding exercise ever (just had to hide prices unless a user was logged in and tagged with "Approved"). The team did not hesitate to offer their help, quickly implement the solution, and provide me step-by-step directions on how to replicate the solution. All-in-all, I would definitely recommend. DONT USE THIS APP!!!!! Be careful if you decide to DELETE it one day. My website was down for 3 days, and I couldn't detect the problem until Shopify detected that when I deleted this APP, was the problem that stopped my entire website!!

Incredible app! I have a courses/membership site and use this to hide menu items and pages based on the items the user has purchased. Also, the login form wasn't populating on the protected content page, I messaged Locksmith and they put in custom code for me to fix it within a few hours, amazing support and app!
Great app! We wanted an app that would hide Shopify store pricing of selected products until we allowed certain customers to be able to view them. The app works perfectly for our requirements. I needed a little assistance in setting it up and their support (Erica) was extremely helpful - quick to respond and knew the app inside out. Can thoroughly recommend Locksmith.
OMG. Locksmith is an ABSOLUTELY AWESOME SOLUTION AND A GAME CHANGER TO SELL DIGITAL CONTENT BEHIND A PAYWALL. This app easily and quickly enabled me to implement a paywall and seamless checkout experience. Now, my customers can pay on my landing page, receive an email with the link to access my content and locksmith automatically checks that the email they are using to log in belongs to someone that already paid for such content. If it checks out access is granted or denied otherwise. Also, my users pay for 1 month access each time they pay. Locksmith makes it easy to automatically cancel their access after 1 month. Locksmith works seamlessly with Shopify's new user registration. This means that instead of having to ask users for the old school annoying registration (first name, last name, email, password) they only need to use their email to register. This cuts down the time from buy to accessing my paid content by like 80% and only requires one email instead of three. Shout out to Tristan on the Locksmith team who quickly assisted me with recommendations, documentation and super useful ideas. Shopify tech support recommended Locksmith and Tristan really knocked it out of the park. Thank you!
Highly recommend this app - and more importantly - this team! The app is robust and does exactly what I was looking for, and then some! I've needed to use tech support twice (both because of my error and misunderstanding) and they were quite responsive and polite. I'm thrilled to finally have a way to achieve what I wanted without having to completely re-do my entire website. Can't be more happy with Locksmith and the team behind it.
Locksmith is very versatile, and easy to use. It has so many great features to customize your locks and has even given me ideas on how to make my locked products and pages more fun for my customers! Plus, their customer service is superb! I had a couple of questions and was helped within mere hours. I would definitely recommend Locksmith!

I don't typically write reviews, but this app deserves it! This app is exactly what I was looking for to separate wholesale from retail. Originally, I thought setting up a wholesale channel on Shopify would be easy - and it probably is, if you want to pay the $2000+ a month for Shopify Plus. At the price point for this app, it cannot be beat! I needed to set up a separate area of my site that was only visible and accessible to approved customers using customer tags. Installation of the app and setting up the initial locks was super simple. I had a specific vision for how I wanted the wholesale channel of my site to be set up, including hiding checkout buttons and adding minimum order total requirements in order to checkout. This did require a little more coding that I am not exactly familiar with, but seemed to be no problem at all after reaching out to support! Tristan was quick to respond and install the additional coding that was needed to bring my vision to life! Tristan understood exactly what I was trying to accomplish and even suggested to add additional coding to ensure there were no loopholes that would allow wholesale customers to checkout without reaching the minimums. The customer service from this app was top notch! If you're looking to set up a wholesale channel on your site, I definitely recommend this app!

Doesn't work Tried to create a lock on a page with a passcode - a very simple setup. Nothing. Didn't work. Not a good UX.

Hello! I'm sorry you encountered an issue when trying out the passcode key. I saw your email, and replied, about 30 minutes after it came in (20 minutes after this review), but by that time Locksmith had been removed. A lock not working is exceedingly rare, and is generally something which can be fixed. That's why we have our 15 day trial period: We want to make sure you have time to test things and work out any potential conflicts in the theme, or with other apps, before you have to pay for Locksmith. It's also important to note that passcode keys will remember you in the browser when you enter the code, and it may seem like they aren't locked at all. If that seems like it might be the issue, using a new private browsing session will show you what a new visitors sees. I can't diagnose what happened at the moment, since Locksmith has been removed from your store. But, feel free to reach out if you'd like to try again. I added locksmith to a Shopify store, and I want to lock some products with prices and others with no fees showing. So I sssent a message to customer support, and Ken and Tristan helped me with everything. They are amazing. Find solutions to what i need and add to my store. Very good app if you need to lock products or services to your store. Highly recommended

Locksmith is exactly what my store was looking for. I'm able to hide my prices and lock checkout settings until my customers log in. Tristen and his support team were great at responding to my questions and even helped add in the code necessary. Would recommend this app!

This app has caused me more bother than good. I would not recommend downloading locksmith! After downloading locksmith it has caused my products to be showing out of stock despite them being in stock. This has caused huge loss of sales. It has also stopped many website functions from working. The code behind this app is very unstable and if you are downloading it, it will be at your own risk. I am now seeking to completely get rid of this bugged app from my shopify store. I'm extremely disappointed!

I’m sorry you had to experience this. The issue coming from Locksmith in this case was that the add to cart button, in the featured products area of your home page, was showing as “sold out” until the customer interacted with the variant selector. Your developer removed the Locksmith code from that template, which fixed the problem, but Locksmith automatically added its code again shortly after, and the issue resurfaced. I totally understand your frustration, and while we did mention that Locksmith auto-installs, we should have brought up the ignore list functionality to prevent that from showing up again. Locksmith has an ignore list on the Settings page, which allows you to specify theme files that Locksmith should leave alone during its install process. We did see that your slider navigation was not functioning, but it seems that was a side effect of the product object being “nil” in the featured product area, or perhaps something else in that template. Those are generally unrelated, and we're not sure why that happened, since the app is only working with your products and variants. We’ve been able to duplicate the add to cart button issue on other themes, but not the unresponsive menu. That’s something specific to the theme you’re using, and fixing the add to cart also stopped the navigation menu issue. I’m glad we were able to get this fixed for you, and that everything is working. Again, I’m sorry for the frustrating situation. We’re here to help if anything else comes up. Best, Ken
Great app, worked perfectly for what I needed (hiding prices from the site) and their support team helped me implement the code so promptly!
I love this app so much. I do a lot of fundraisers but customers like to see what their listings will look like before the fundraiser starts. This allows me to lock all their products so only they can see them until the fundraiser starts. I also use this for specific customers who get a discounted rate on their own merch so their employees can order directly through me but get the discounted rate. Recently I had an issue where I wanted to lock my NSFW items so that people had to verify their age before viewing. (I do school fundraisers so this is important to me.) I reached out and Tristan helped me make sure it was set up correctly and working. Very fast, friendly replies. This is such a great app!

I use this app to make one product every month only available to (paid) club members. It works great! I wanted to customize one element and customer service was fast, responsive, and very easy to work with.
The Locksmith Team is kind and helpful, and I like that I can turn on (and pay for) the app only for the 2-3 times a year that I need to do an original painting release and want to have secret keys for my best collectors!

The app worked very well but when the trial expired, all my products got locked and were not accessible by any customers, even the products that were not locked. I had to pay a subscription fee to go back in the app and disable the locks. I was under the impression that all the locks would be disabled when the trial expired, which would be the logical next step. So I did not go into the app and disable it. After a few days, I realized all my products were locked and the app had disappeared. Cold sweat!!!! I did receive a warning email but it was not clear. The logical process would be to disable locksmith when the trial ends and let all products be visible again. They hold us hostage instead of letting us try the product and disable it when the trial is over. Not impressed by that. No amount of: "we told you by email" will make this process better. It feels like a scam to me.

Hey there! There’s no need to subscribe to Locksmith to unlock your content. Locksmith can be disabled from the settings page in the app, using the “Disable Locksmith” button. I can definitely appreciate why finding that your products are still locked when you didn’t expect them to be would be an unpleasant surprise! For this reason we mention specifically in the emails that are automatically sent out, that a subscription doesn’t need to be started, and that customer access to your locked content will be disabled when a trial lapses. We do not hold stores hostage. I understand why you might expect Locksmith to automatically disable your locks. The reason we've chosen not to automatically disable all of a store's locks is because some shops may let their trials lapse before subscribing, or they may simply need to update their billing information with Shopify, causing the payment to not be processed. If that happens, we want to make sure the locks are still in place, since shops rely heavily on us to protect content. We're first and foremost an access control application, and so disabling locks could open up shops to showing content or selling products to folks who shouldn't have access. Thank you for your feedback. These are important points that we want merchants to be informed about. Again, I know that situation wasn't ideal, to say the least, and I'm sorry for the confusion and issue. We are now looking into how we can improve messaging in the app to make it clearer that a subscription isn’t needed to disable or uninstall Locksmith, and that a subscription is only required to keep using Locksmith. Using this app, causes my SHOP to not be active and interferes with sales. I am having to delete this app.

First off, thank you for your feedback. This is an important point, regarding our compatibility with the Shop App. I’m sorry this came as a surprise. Nobody wants to have a sales channel suddenly become inactive. This is something that’s enforced by Shop itself, and while we hope that the two apps can work together eventually, it’s out of our hands at the moment. We do mention the incompatibility with the Shop App in our usage agreement, and Shop also has that in their guidelines. It’s also super important to note that this restriction is in place for all access control apps, and not just ours. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience. It looks like we were in the process of working through getting your store setup with Locksmith, and that this incompatibility means Locksmith isn’t an option for you. App works great. I love working with Erica. She definitely went out of her way to help me by setting up the proper code for my custom theme. I love her detailed explanations, she tries to explain the coding process in layman's terms. She was also still answering my emails and questions while she was on a trip. Everything is perfect, I cannot find even any constructive criticisim to make. My supplier brought in new t+c's, which meant that 1 product had to be password protected, with specific customers details verified before allowing them to purchase. Locksmith support staff were able to provide me with exactly what I was looking for. The product page can be viewed by all, but a password is required to add it to the cart. Support was amazing, extremely prompt (within 1 day) and extremely detailed. Within 5 days (including weekend) of receiving the updated terms from my supplier, my websites are both now compliant thanks to Locksmith. Another great thing about them is their open pricing policy. I had a discussion with them about pricing and requested to pay a lower amount than is recommended for my store, since I have no intentions to use Locksmiths software for anything else across my websites, only this 1 product. They kindly agreed to the requested price, which is just unheard of. In the future I may make use of more of Locksmith's feature's, if I do I would be more than happy to increase the subscription amount as I have been amazed at the way they are conducting themselves. I have 100% confidence in them.
Terrific app that exactly achieved what we were looking for our wellness store, and at a more than reasonable price. The Locksmith team was thorough and responsive, helping us to install and configure the app. After several rounds of back and forth we have it up and running and we are beyond excited. I love how easy Locksmith is to use and how many options there are! And the support staff is responsive and friendly too! I need help figuring out how to do something and they jumped right in and helped me with a solution in a couple of hours. Highly recommended!
This app is great and the service is even better! Very happy with the way it has been working for us, we haven't had any issues whatsoever! We also don't have a full-time developer in-house, and the team at LockSmith was so willing to help us get this installed and implemented! Very happy!!
I had very specific needs that I could not find a manual solution, nor could I find an app that specifically addressed my problem. The beautiful thing about Locksmith is that their support team is extremely responsive and willing to assist in the problem solving process. Their staff worked with me to customize features within the Locksmith product to meet my specific needs and now, I have the exact control I was looking for within my store. Great app and even better support team!
