We will be looking into other options as this app continues to crash and not work, while the "support" ignores us reaching out for assistance. This app was great until it wasn't. Why would we pay for something that hasn't been working properly for the last 3+ weeks?
Total disaster. It fails constantly and has ended up costing us far more money due to incorrect pricing, on top of the app’s own cost. Absolutely not worth it.
Update Feb 12 2026: While trying to remove the traces their support folks messed up our order numbers sequence, we are reporting this to Shopify app support. The Bold Custom Pricing app is in serious need of a revamp some features don't work and whole store slows down. To ensure better performance and reliability it really should be aiming for the 'Built for Shopify' badge. We eventually uninstalled the app with the assistance of Bold's support team, but unfortunately, it still left traces of code behind on our store. A cleaner, more complete uninstall process is essential.
Our business has used BOLD App for nearly a decade. The mitigation and transition to the new Custom Pricing App has been horrible. Our customers have not been able to confidently place orders for going on 10 days because the quantities are arbitrarily changing in their carts and the pricing is incorrect. Customer support is slow to respond and have conflicting suggestions/fixes. We are extremely disappointed and have asked numerous times to switch back to the old app. Looking for help from anyone.
If I could give this app negative stars, I would. Perhaps it works fine if you have under 100 products OR if you just want to apply discounts based on amount spent. However, if you are trying to set up pricing based on Customer Tags so they only see their pricing, this app is complete trash in that regard. It absolutely failed every step of the way. Not only does it take FOREVER for it to sync data, the logic is so poorly thought out that it has to RESYNC every time a price change is made to the shopify price. ummm ever heard of a check? You know to check which data is updated and which is the same and then only sync the updated data? Apparently the team at BOLD has not figured that out. No, seriously they actually haven't considered it. But then get this, even after it re-syncs EVERYTHING, it does not always update the pricing for every item. And to top it off they don't keep an error log for the SYNC you just spent hours waiting for to understand what the issue(s) were are. Now, let's talk about their support. That is limited to 9am-5pm CST with NO OPTION for support outside of regular business hours. This means if you run into an issue with their app, they are non-existent after 5pm CST, and don't even try to get ahold of them on the weekends. OH, did I mention that when the app is syncing parts of the app don't work? Yep, forget about reviewing products or anything else in the app while it's syncing because you can't access them... at all! This app is so poorly coded, its logic was not thought out in the least, the UX is confusing and problematic and their support seems to have zero idea why things don't work and respond with... "It works for other people"... If you are considering this app, RUN! DO NOT WALK AWAY. It is a complete waste of time and energy.

Hey Dan, this is Jay (one of the co-founders of Bold). I'm so sorry for the trouble you had and would be happy to personally help you set it up. There are a few nuances to how fast prices can be updated, so some of that isn't able to be changed, but I'd love to hop on a call and hear any feedback you have on UX improvements. We're always trying to improve things. My personal email is jm@boldcommerce.com - if you're up for it, shoot me an email and I'd love to up on a call and walk through some of the challenges you had.
Should you require an application characterized by inconsistent functionality, coupled with a support team whose assistance is often limited to basic troubleshooting such as enabling or disabling features, this software may meet your criteria.

Appreciate the kind words. The team is always happy to assist. We will be sure to pass along your wonderful feedback to Azm! Thank you for choosing Bold!
Their customer service is really bad. They sent an email instructing me to reply back to the email after I completed a step. I then receive an email chastising me for sending them an email.
Developer reply ·
We are so sorry to hear about your experience. Due to change in our ticket submission process, you received an automated reply from the system. We will certainly review our process! Thank you for your feedback. Our deepest apologies once again!
We are trying this app on a completely new theme, we have been trying to install it properly for the last 5 days but no luck. Their support is responsive, they are trying to help us install for the last 3 days but they break more than they fix. We will give it another day or two but if they cant install it we will quit. Never install this app on a live theme. If you cant handle 3-5 days downtime of your store, do not install this app. Auto install, easy install my aaa.

Thank you for taking the time to write in. We are genuinely sorry for the issues you've experienced. I can confirm our team is actively investigating every angle and working hard to resolve this problem. Thank you so much for all your patience.
Wholesale prices on showin up at checkout. I brought this to your attention a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it was fixed, but yesterday, a wholesale customer told us she sees regular pricing. I tested it and saw retail prices, not wholesale prices when I checked out.
Developer reply ·
Thank you so much for writing in to let us know. Our team has reached out to provide some support. We hope to make your experience better and get you back on track as quickly as possible!
In their publication they promise $20 a month, at the time of payment it is $40, it is double, they lie about their price, it is a hoax.
Developer reply ·
Thanks for writing in! Feedback like yours alerts us to merchants that may need our help. There are 3 different plans within Custom Pricing that can be activated or deactivated (depending on your needs) from within the app admin under settings > account plans. The Quantity Breaks plan can be used at $20 month alone. We would love to help you sort out your needs and fix any issues with your price plan. You can reach us from our Help Center (https://support.boldcommerce.com/hc/en-us) anytime! We’d love get you back on track!
Doesn't work if a customer checks out using Apple Pay or Shop Pay. I asked support, and they confirmed with is a limitation. Ironic considering BOLD's slogan is "Checkout With Limits"
Developer reply ·
Thank you for taking the time to write in! We are sorry to hear you are having trouble with these express payment gateways. These payment options can be used as long as the option appears within the checkout page. Our team has reached out to provide you some additional information. Please keep your eye out. We are always here to help!
When it works- great. but now CSV uploads are not working and much like the review below, support(?) isnt reading the information provided as to where their app is failing- they send a bunch or unrelated pre-scripted replies, or links to articles that are unrelated. Then dont answer for 24 hours. so freaking fed up ..

Thank you for your feedback. When our level of support falls short of our client's expectations, we take it very seriously. I have checked in with our support team and see that have been in contact to resolve your issue. I hope that we can turn this around and get you back on the road to success.
Would give 0 stars if I could. Terrible app, terrible support, they have made a mess of my store and cost me so much $. Their "developers" are clowns and their customer support is a joke they will only tell you pre-scripted answers. DO NOT USE ANY APP FROM BOLD. The apps will never work and when they don't they will just blame it on your theme, other apps, the weather, or any other random stupid excuse they can think of

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. I am sorry to hear that you have had a less than positive experience so far. Our goal is to help you succeed. I have checked in with our support team and can confirm our team is actively working with you to find a solution that works for your store’s needs. We thank you so much for all of your patience.
Buyer beware!!!! This app will screw your theme up permanently if you uninstall it. It leaves code throughout your theme and messes up future theme updates. They also don't give you support on the weekends so if they screw you over on a Friday or Thursday you're out of luck for at least a week. The actual app doesn't work well, to begin with, if you have people use discount codes it won't work with the custom pricing. Pretty awful development, worse support, and a major headache to part ways with them.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are very sorry to hear you had a frustrating experience with our app and support and we want to assure you that we take this very seriously. I can confirm a member of our team has reached out to you to help.
Our store has multiple Bold apps installed and I continue to be unhappy with both the apps and the service that I have received when looking for support with Bold apps. The apps are not intuitive and I constantly receive bad advice on how to do what should be simple tasks. During a recent chat with the support center, I tried to communicate my frustration with Bold to the staff member I was speaking with and felt that my concerns were blown off and I was being spoken to in a condescending manner. I am incredibly disappointed in the program and the service that I have received.
Bad customer service ,bugged app .really bad experience. lost a lot of money due to this app. I wouldn't recommend any bold apps ,overly priced
I'm writing this review to save other business owners some precious time. After installing this app ($39) and an add-on quantity breaks app ($20), I spent 4 hours setting up my quantity breaks groups and found that it only works for the public side of the website. Quantity Breaks does not function with Shopify POS and it also doesn't work if you create orders for customers in the order admin. 4 hours of my time that I can't get back. Bold would be wise to state that their app has limited functionality.
This app doesn't load properly with Galleria theme, or at least it is what the developer is saying. Should not take forever to load a page when the app is supposed to do it. Bold Custom pricing simply doesn't work even if you pay the $59.99 option. This is ridiculous and put us 2 months behind launch day without any proper solution
UPDATE: More problems. You cannot add another product without jumping through a bunch of hoops. Waited 3 days for them to "Update" our theme, didn't fix the problem that all customers are seeing 2 pricing groups. Still not fixed. Customer service is terrible, they don't listen and rarely fix the problem on the first out reach. Excuse me while I get back in the queue and start over. YAY. Installation was pretty complicated for our Theme, so we had to pay. A lot of back and forth with the team, new people each response created confusion, and a lot of wasted time. Overall the app is pretty good, we have a bit of a unique situation, so we are trying to make it work for us. Launching our site in 2 days, so we'll see how well it works.
It did not work...and we've trying to get help from support the past 2 months to make things work but the communication from them has been sparse and few.

Thank you for your honest feedback - we are sorry to hear about the lack of communication from our end and would like a second chance to get you set up for success! We have confirmed that one of our experts has reached out via your ticket email, please keep an eye out and we are standing by to help!
I've been waiting 6+ weeks for customer service to fix my issues with this app. Meanwhile, we've been paying full price for something that doesn't work and is holding up my store launch.
Developer reply ·
Thank you for your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the frustration this may have caused. Our technical experts are looking into the issue as we speak and they have reached out to you. Thank you so much for your patience as we try and resolve this.
Where do we start, we used bold custom pricing for about 3 years, so not new to them. In the last 12 months there has been many bugs stopping a smooth operation. They have a poor quality customers service which is the most important part of any app developer. I tried calling them and speaking to them on chat, but they really are a waste of time. We are testing other custom pricing apps on shopify to find a better solution. I think this is the problem with companies like bold, they focus on making as many apps and making as much money, that they take there eyes of the most important thing, a quality product and excellent customer service, Hope this helps someone avoid problems like we have , thanks

Thank you for your feedback. We are truly sorry for the experience you've had in the past. We've always made sure our merchants are taken care of in a timely manner as each and every merchant is important. Again we really appreciate your feedback and we will continuously work on better improving our product and in providing excellent customer service.
I've used many apps on Shopify and most of them were really great. Especially the support of those apps. Fast communication and always helpfull with my questions. The service I've experienced with BOLD is the WORST service I've ever got. This app costs me $20 per month and 2 weeks ago I've installed the 'Quantity Breaks' app. It was hard to figure this out so I needed help from the support team. Since then nobody has helped me to fix it. I've send many e-mails with zero response. The only response is a question they ask and when I answered this questions for help, nobody responded anymore. This is unbelievable. I'm really dissapointed that nobody could help me set up this app. I have a lot of customers and couldn't use a quantity app now for 2 weeks. I hope someone from BOLD will see this message and will do something about this lack of support. Thanks for all the help and support.. NOT!! - A very dissapointed customer. ** NOT RECCOMMENDED TO USE THIS APP FROM BOLD **

We used this app for a number of years on our B2B wholesale site. Combined with Locksmith we had a great B2B secure site. 2 months ago we started having issues with the app, when we asked for support, Bold upgraded us from version 2 to version 3 without asking and without any considerations to the site. By doing this they broke our site and we had to take the site down for several days. We kept escalating to their support team and eventually managed to get a patched site together, After 6 weeks of dealing with them with NO progress or support, we eventually decided to look at other apps. We received the nice sorry cannit help and if you need anything contact us email. We use Bold apps across 4 sites we run and have really noticed a change in the last 12 months in their level of support and continual increases in prices. My recommendations are that you look at alternatives for a long term partner. They are not as "hungry" and supportive as other app providers. I think they have just become too big. Such a shame. Stay safe everyone.

Hello! The app does not work properly in my shop and the installation team is overwhelmed with their work and has not been able to find a solution until today! The support is also very, very slow and the work is not checked. There is no good quality management at BOLD. On September 5th, 2020 I installed the BOLD app for testing and today is September 22nd, 2020 and it still doesn't work and I have been waiting for the last feedback from support for 2 days again! I cannot recommend this app + company! I now have another app to test and it works very well for me and the support is very helpful and quick with its answers! The app costs more money, but it's worth it to me! Have a nice day! Greetings from Germany!
App screwed up my store pricing, lost customers - tried to contact Customer Service to rectify and still waiting 5 days later - POOR
Bold Custom Pricing works from the shop side, but has some significant limitations for true wholesale use. The app only works on the shop side, it does not apply 'wholesale pricing' to draft orders through the admin portal. It's not uncommon, when working with wholesale customers to need to supply a pro forma invoice etc. for payment or to enter a paper based order manually, which we can do in Shopify using a draft order. Bold Pricing hasn't been integrated into the admin side, so you manually have to apply discounts to make it work. Good if your wholesale customer always puts their orders in using the shop side, but fails if you need to generate a manual order. If you are entering some orders on behalf of customers, this (to the best of my experience and knowledge... happy to be proven wrong) will not work as a good solution to wholesale pricing. The work around (can't believe they suggested this...) is to create a dummy customer, create an order, get the discounts, go back to a new draft order (still with me..?) manually update the new draft order with the price and process the order.. (really,.. ok). Customer support is slow to respond (I assume it's ok in US timezones, but outside of this.. hmm). The app will work well for some users, but understand it's limitations. Get's one star (probably more due to the supports idea on how to work around the problem) rather than fixing it. It's another app that has great intentions but (in my opinion, others will differ) fails to understand how this type of business process flow is likely to operate. Hopefully they consider making this 'added functionality' something in an upcoming product release.
Before installing this app and wasting your time, make sure you read BOLD's documentation, especially this article: https://support.boldcommerce.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005305726. There are some significant, deal breaker type limitations with all versions of this app. The most recent version, Version 3 has the following limitations according to the page linked to above, and confirmed by their live chat support: It does NOT work with third-party checkout buttons like Amazon Pay, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, etc. It does NOT work with Shopify discount codes. It is NOT compatible with some inventory management apps. Draft orders remain in your Shopify admin after a customer has checked out. I wish I had known these things upfront, which is why I'm posting this review so it will hopefully help others before they waste their time if any of those things are deal breakers like they are for me.
This app SUCKS! After this APP was expert installed, it created duplicate variants in all of our Google Shopping Campaigns, showing discounted prices to consumers. After I spoke with customer service, they had NO FIX FOR THIS! Additionally, it created an issue, where customers could not select different variants or flavors of products, and page descriptions would not scroll so that customers could read about the products. Tons of lost revenue. If you have a very ‘simple’ store then I suggest reading the tutorial on how to duplicate your theme and create your own wholesale customer store. Do not download this app.
I was hoping to use this app to sell to select customers (retailers) who had a retailer tag in Shopify. However, after I created a 50% retailer discount in this app, the discount was visible all over our webstore, and if anyone added more than 1 of any item to their cart, they received a 50% discount. Now, perhaps I simply misunderstood the app. But this is when the bigger issue arose. When I discovered that the app wasn't doing what I thought it would, I deleted the setting I created in the Custom Pricing app. But nothing changed. So I deleted the entire app. STILL nothing changed. The app had made permanent changes in my Shopify theme. I'm lucky to have a designated customer service helper at Bold, but if I didn't, it may have been days before Bold's team could have weeded out the old code (fortunately it only took a few hours). I had high hopes for this app. While I love and will continue to use other Bold Apps (Upsell, Recurring Memberships, Brain, Bundles, and Store Locator), I would not recommend Custom Pricing given the issues I described.
broke my web site.. cant even log in anymore. got rid of this app right away. Watch out if you ever think of using this app.
Installed this app and our website would not load at all. Only would load a white page. The content was still there on the backend of Shopify, but nothing would load. Luckily we had a backup saved. Reached out to support and waiting to hear back. Just wanted to make this review in-case someone else experienced this.
I uninstalled this app this morning and whilst this is not usually a big deal It has broken my entire website by corrupting my theme and placing every single product SOLD Out and disabled the add to cart function. I have lost all income in one of the busiest sales periods. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING. INSTALL THIS APP AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Extremely complicated and I could not get it to do what I needed it to do. It probably wouldn't be so complicated if they had useful support articles, or an explanation somewhere of how the app works! The support articles seem to be out of date, at least for the interface I was looking at. What is a CSP? Why does NOTHING happen when I create a price group? How does install really work? I'm a technical person, but I wrangled with this app for way longer than I expected to. Big waste of time for me. But it might be great for some people who can get it working.
Could never get this to work and will discontinue the app. Have been paying for months thinking I would turn it on at some point, but have decided it is not worth the effort. Will just continue to build multiple products for retail and wholesale. Service started out at a 5 star and dropped to 2 stars since it would take days to get a response to attempted fix, to another few days to attempt to fix what the first attempt broke. Never did get it right. What a waste.
Recommended to use this for Quantity Breaks by Bold Support, as their quantity breaks app was broken. Worst thing we ever did. Sales down because it doesn't show 'From' prices on the collection pages and also when customers buy the quantities with discount doesn't get applied to the order, so totally useless. AVOID if using for quantity breaks.
Really is a terrible app, or developers do not understand the Ecommerce Business, This app was supposed to be simple, it changed my pricing of products, disabled my google merchant shop feed because of the prices, disastrous. BEWARE and enter with caution.
BLOODY NIGHTMARE Can't take advantage of Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram sales channels because all your wholesale prices will be exposed. Not to mention, any time they do a liquid update, ALL MY WHOLESALE PRICES ARE EXPOSED ON MY WEBSITE. NEED HELP AFTER HOURS? Forget it. I'm losing money as I write this review because I happen to not notice this happened today until now, almost 6PM CT. I am running a sale combining this app with the Product Discount app, which works fine together, BUT after the liquid code install apparently NO ONE BOTHERED TO CHECK IF THAT HAD AN EFFECT ON MY WEBSITE, WHICH IS EXPOSING MY WHOLESALE PRICES ON ALL SALE ITEMS. Think about it, the sale is 40-50% off retail and the WHOLESALE PRICES ON THIS SALE IS BEING EXPOSED! THAT IS MY FREAKING COST!!! Today was the first day I tripled my Facebook Ad spend to this specific collection so I can liquidate this collection's stock and I'm getting a ton of customer service emails wondering wtf is up with the prices. They are confused and I'M LOSING SALES. Extremely pissed.
Had the app for years. They suggested we move to draft order pricing in December, ruined our whole site and dealer programs. Wasted about 50 hours getting it all fixed and back to the Variant version, lost thousands of dollars in lost orders. Fast forward to April, they update something in the app and now pages won't load. Support doesn't understand anything you are saying, wasted about 60+ hours and lost tens of thousands in orders. They're basically saying our size store can't be supported by this awful app, but they had no problem supporting me paying for it. On to find a different app, I'll update when we find a good replacement so you know where to look too. Don't waste time and money on Bold apps, the support is an absolute joke. Bold does not care about customers.
Had the App for several years and was generally satisfied but they have recently "updated it" and it is now terrible as they have removed the ability to manage the individual products? Tried to submit a ticket but you only get a run around within their system. Very frustrating!
BEWARE! This app will create options and variants for every tag and pricing group you create and causes major theme and site errors! I do not recommend this app at all. They did not clearly explain how this app affects the site even after I had requested information and then after installing their customer support was non-existent. Ended up having to clean up 4 duplicate variants across 1300 skus by myself! DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS. It will mess up your site. It also does not work with coupon codes nor with 3rd party inventory systems.
Absolutely awful customer support, we contacted 4 days ago, nobody bothered to help us properly install the app. The app installation completely screwed up the theme and regular customers couldn't put orders through. We ended up uninstalling this and lost money over it.
I've been looking for a wholesale app for awhile. Made the mistakes of not turning off groups that created a nightmare so I had to uninstall the app and vix all variants it created. Well while looking for another app made the mistake of reinstalling this one again. Charged me $50 and didn't understand why till I realized it was the same app I tried the previous week. Cancelled it again. BEWARE if you are not careful this app will show all your wholesale pricing to everyone and it's not an easy fix. It creates extra variants and it is time consuming as all hell
Working with Bold was an absolutely nightmare. This app is not meant for real businesses. We are a manufacturer of science equipment with over 1,200 SKU's and this app actually lost us money. From double discounting tiered wholesale customers and double dipping monthly promos, discount codes... The app creates duplicate variants in order to track discounts (herein lies it's main issues of compatibility). We had probably 10 cases with Bold and the first rep we worked with was very helpful but the main issue isn't the customer service (although after our first point of contact they failed to really answer and help in the depth we needed after things were messed up) the main issue is the app itself. If you are a small start up or store then this app maybe useful. It has so many issues even things like not having the ability to select a collection to mass discount because we had 'too many' collections. If Bold was honest about saying the needs we had or the size of our store was too big then it could have avoided 90 days of disaster and this poor review.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES INSTALL THIS APP. IT'S CHANGED ALL THE PRICING ON MY STORE SO EVERY PRODUCT YOU VIEW IS THE PRICE OF WHATEVER YOU LAST VIEWED!!!!!!!!!!!!! I PAID FOR THE $40 INSTALLATION FROM BOLD WHICH TOOK 4 DAYS AND NOW I CANT GET THEM TO REMOVE / FIX THE FLAWED CODE THAT'S NOW LITTERED THROUGH MY SITE ALSO, THEY SAY LEAVE THEIR CODE WHEN YOU DELETE THEIR APP. WHICH MEANS THEIR BROKEN CODE REMAINS ON EVERY LITTLE LIQUID PAGE THROUGHOUT YOUR STORE. I'VE DELETED THE APP AND IT STILL SHOWS WRONG PRICING. I'M WATCHING HEATMAPS OF MY CUSTOMERS EXITING. www.sunrayflyfish.com
With all Bold Apps you must really look close at possible issues. Bugs hurt your site and customer experience. You MUST get ALL code removed. They tell you you can just uninstall but issues remain. We have asked twice to have all liquid code removed and both times they said they did. In changing themes wholesale default pricing now shows up. It is crazy. Before registration button was gone with the loyalty app. Don't walk, run from this company. Bad software.
Bad customer service, had to wait so long to get an answer that is not good answer and it's very complicated to know who you have to talk to. This app bugs with many things like Facebook shop if you have sizing variants. All prices are being visible by your Facebook followers !! It bugs also the filters app because it create for example ( small-retail, small-wholesale...) so you have many many filter unnecessary. It slow down the website, very much !! The hide tags is not clever, it would have been better to make a ( -show ) tag instead of -hide, and choosing not to be visible it's the native solution of Shopify, so the default visitor don't see anything and you avoid many tags for nothing. It double the inventory size because of the way it multiply the variants in order to the quantity of your type of pricing... It creates to much tags that is really not friendly user and not clean in the end if you want to have a simple preview of your tags. Well, I don't recommand that app if you us many apps like me.
UPDATE: We are so sad that it has come to this! We needed to uninstall the the whole thing from our shop (removing the liquid code, undoing the changes to the theme's HTML is tedious work!). They weren't able to resolve our problems and we have tried our best to be patient with them. Bold's CSP just don't fit in to our preferences and their suggestions for a solution is defeating the purpose of why we even purchased the program in the first place. It's an incomplete program to integrate with our shop.
A real pain of an app. I'm afraid of breaking the store any time I add or duplicate or make any modifications to a product. "Pausing" the app takes forever (literally going on half hour+) and is essential whenever making product additions or edits. Not to mention you can't use shopify/facebook integration without it showing all of your price tiers. Plus, if you mess up on the backend, it's easy to accidentally show all of your customers all price tiers on the front end. OOPS! The backend is clunky to use and doesn't load properly most of the time when navigating deeper within pages. Also beware, if you have a lot of different tiers, it's a mess to deal with scrolling through the browser because of how many columns -- imagine a bloated GUI excel spreadsheet. You can't tell which product you're editing for which tier without scrolling like a madman. And then my favorite part ... you finally painstakingly input all of your prices and click save... and then ... wait for it ... refresh ... NONE OF THE PRICES SAVE! TADA! Most of the limitations and complaints may be due to Shopify constraints, but that's giving Bold the benefit of the doubt. Support is good, but this software is monstrous and scary. Most other third-party shopify integrations (stitch labs, etc...) are afraid to integrate with a store using Bold apps because they're afraid of things breaking too. Temperamental app. I can't wait to move all of our wholesale customers over to a new system. Save yourself the trouble and look for a different wholesale solution rather than any of these types of shopify apps -- especially this one. While it may *work*, it's way too messy. Not quite sure how this app has so many positive reviews. Suspicious of review shilling at this point, but who knows.
First I'd like to say I am deleting this app from my shopify store right after I leave this heartfelt review of this company and product. I could list more than just these reasons why I will never use a bold app again, however I will only list a couple in hopes that it will help at least one person steer clear of this company. 1. Horrible support. They are never available. They take days to respond sometimes. I was recently left hanging while missing out on income from wholesale customers that could have been coming in had this app been working properly. On top of this, Jay comes across as a very arrogant person when handling a customer concern. He is very short and condescending. 2. Their "install" price is gouged. If you do not know how to update and install code in to your theme, they charge you $40 for 15 minutes of work. How do I know it takes 15 mins? Because after their install team wrecked my wholesale purchasing I figured out how to work with code. I systematically checked and re- installed every single piece of coding myself. Guess what? If you change themes on shopify, you have to re-install this app and completely re- enter all of the coding. If you do not know how to do it, they will have the audacity to ask you to pay them another $40 install fee to install the app for you again. After you already paid them once to install it! What a nickel and dime kind of company you are bold. 3. Their app price is HIGHLY gouged. $50 a month for an app that requires a ton of user end work and data entry. 4. Major lack of attention to detail. Their support staff apparently knows less about code installation than someone who takes 1 day to study and learn it. When I argued with them about having to pay a second install fee to have the app on my store, they hesitantly agreed and had a support staff "re-install" the coding. This is where it all messed up and my wholesale customers were no longer to even see the variants designated for them. AT ALL! So my conclusion, along with the conclusion of a shopify support guru, is that their "install team" accidentally deleted some shopify coding and created a mess they chose to disregard. On top of this, I was a 'Premium" package user (because every nickel and dime company like bold wants you to pay that extra amount to get features that should be available anyways) and their "install team" installed the basic package. That is complete lack of attention to detail and it seems I was brushed aside because of my unhappiness with their product's function. This app is clunky. It seems very slung together and way too complex (even though I know how to fully operate it). If you need a good app that will let you designate specific pricing for all types of customers, while hiding it from others' view, I HIGHLY recommend the "Locksmith" app. I am not at all affiliated with the creators of that app. Just a very disappointed customer who found a new solution when bold apps failed me. What took me more than 30hrs of data entry to accomplish with this app, took me 30 minutes with the locksmith app. Goodbye Bold, you lost a customer and I will tell everyone to avoid you from here on out.
I think this app had great potential, and I would love to revise my review if I could get some straight answers from support, but support is lacking. 1st, we could not get the app to display proper pricing right from the start, VIP was charging members 10% more in addtion VIP lower pricing was being displayed in section page results for non VIP members. After paying Bold $150 to assist with the install, the same issues were still happening less the 10% more factor. Could not get an answer from support for almost a week. Finally got this resolved when I cancelled another Bold app that was not working in conjuction with this app, and Bold email asking why we left? Bold finally responded after my email frustrations with their support and challenges we faced. Within a day, the issue was resolved. So the new issues are that in order to change a price, add an item or change a variant, you need to disable the program which takes about 1 hr per 1000 variants (which means your VIP is down during that time) and then same amount of time to turn back on. If you have 6K variants, that's 12 hours of downtime. I think this app is made for companies with a few variants, but for a larger company there has to be a better way. I also do not trust the App for properly tagging customers VIP after purchase, Bold said it takes about 15 minutes to tag after VIP membership was purchased, but we are seeing alot more time and have to manually tag customers ourselves. For now, we have too many that signed up right away and have to keep this for a little longer until we test another app that will work for us.
Ugh, I don't like writing negative reviews, and this is my first one in the shopify app store. But there are major issues that customers need to know before installing this app. I really tried hard to work with Bold Apps to understand why they have not made this information available on the app description page, and was left astounded by their responses and disgusted by their lack of concern for how their app will have negative and destructive effects on their customers e-shops. What you need to know: This app is NOT compatible with ANY or ALL inventory management apps and ANY or ALL apps that have inventory management functionality, including shipping and fulfillment apps. Below I have posted the email dialogue that shows that Bold Apps is very much aware of this problem, and is aware of the destructive, time-consuming, and costly impact that this app will have when used with other apps many other apps. And you will also see that despite knowing this issue, they have no interest in letting YOU know about it. Their support team seems to have deemed it your own fault for installing it with out questioning the implications first. Unbelievable. I hope others can learn from this experience and avoid it. *** My email to Customer Support: After reading through several of the articles in the support pages, I found one that states that the Customer Pricing App is... "not compatible with any and all inventory management apps, these types of apps break the connections between our apps and the products causing errors that can become visible on the page, as well pricing errors. We do not suggest using inventory management apps under any circumstances while using our apps, as the damage done is very difficult and time consuming to clean up." My shop uses a fulfillment service, Whiplash, and is connected to our shopify account via the Whiplash App. This is not categorized as an "inventory management app". It is labeled a "shipping app". But when they ship our product and fulfill an order, our shops inventory, as well as the specific customers order status are both updated and matched with Whiplash's system. Recently I have been noticing that sometimes the inventory or order status are not updated in our shopify account. It doesn't happen on all orders, just some of them. I actually emailed Whiplash yesterday to find out what could be causing that glitch. But now I'm wondering if it's because of the Customer Pricing App. Is the Customer Pricing App causing these glitches? If my fulfillment companies app manages our inventory by updating it when orders are fulfilled, does that mean Whiplash's shipping app is considered an "inventory management app"? If so, just to be clear, is Customer Pricing App incompatible with Whiplash? Hopefully my suspicions are wrong, because Bold Apps has made no attempt to make this information available for their customers to consider prior to installing and paying for the app and liquid installation. Not to mention the amount of time spent trying to troubleshoot. If this is the case, and Customer Pricing is not compatible with our fulfillment service, I will be uninstalling Customer Pricing and hoping Bold Apps will, at the very least, refund my money that I was charged for the monthly service and for the liquid installation. If these two apps are incompatible, Bold Apps needs to inform people about this. It is Bold Apps responsibility to alert customers of these kinds of problems PRIOR to installing and paying for it. It is absolutely negligent and bad business to not make this clear. Simply posting a single article buried in the support pages on your site is not sufficient. Especially because it doesn't even mention the considerations for shipping apps that might also have some functionality that the Customer Pricing App conflicts with. I will hope for a response from Bold Apps to arrive soon. This is a big deal and a big concern. Please take this seriously. Chris *** Response received from the "support" team: Hey Chris, I'd be happy to help you with this :) I'm not aware of any compatibility issues between customer pricing and whiplash, but its possible that there is. There's hundreds of apps on the shopify app store with their own unique functionality, with new ones coming out all the time that its difficult to tell exactly what would be incompatible with what. I would imagine that if there's a problem it would be with the way that customer pricing handles its inventory tracking. When a user checks out with a customer pricing variant the customer pricing app will cause the regular version of the variant to adjust its inventory while the custom pricing variant essentially has unlimited inventory. With inventory management apps they may try to adjust the quantity of the customer pricing variant which can remove the metafields on those variants that the app uses to control those variants. Also because the inventory app doesn't "know" to adjust the regular version of the variant (since the customer pricing variant is in of the order instead), it can result in inventory inconsistencies. That being said, I don't know how that would cause issues with a shipping app such as whiplash since I don't know how the app is programmed or the processes it uses. Maybe they would be able to use that information to determine if the customer pricing inventory tracking or variants is somehow not compatible with the way that their app operates. -Michael "Support Wizard" *** My reply back to the "support" team: Michael, i must say i am disappointed with your reply. You said you'd he happy to help and then you tell me to have whiplash check to see if their app is compatible with yours. I think that's rather dismissive of Bold Apps responsibility in this situation. Bold Apps is aware of a major conflict between Customer Pricing and inventory management apps. Yet it doesn't mention that AT ALL on the apps page in the shopify market place. Whiplash doesnt have incompatibility issues. As it does what it is supposed to. Your app then prevents it from doing so. Bold Apps should be a little more concerned about this and since your app is the one that causes conflicts, it makes no sense for me to contact whiplash and have them look at your code. Also, their app is free, yours is not. There is nothing stoping you from looking into this yourself. I'm trying hard to find a resolution from you in order to avoid posting a negative review on this app. Please help me. Chris *** The response I received from their "support" team: Hey Chris, Ron with Bold here. Hopefully I'll be able to shed some light on this. Shopify's framework doesn't have the ability to change the pricing 'on-the-fly'. You can't sell a product with one price for a retail customer, and a different price for a wholesale customer. For our app to work within Shopify's ecosystem is that it creates variants of the product for each customer group. You still have the base variant at the regular price, and another variant at a wholesale price point, or variants at a gold/silver/bronze price point, for example. Everything else on the variants would stay the same, same sku, same item weight, etc. Again, it's the same product just at a different price point depending on who the customer is. The challenge here is that inventory and shipping apps are built that each variant is their own unique product. A red shirt inventory wouldn't be reduced because a blue shirt is purchased. That wouldn't make sense. :-) Red shirt is purchased, it's the red shirt that is fulfilled down the line. Likewise, if a wholesale variant is purchased, that's the one that flows through... I'm in agreement with you that there is a conflict between our Customer Pricing app and just about every inventory or shipping app for Shopify. We'd love for each app to work together, and our intention was never to create the unnecessary competition, forcing store owners to choose one or the other. Last fall we reached out to about 10 or 12 of the top app developers, offering our assistance in helping them integrate their apps with ours. Most ignored our emails. Of the 3 or 4 that responded, 1 said that they would look at integrating sometime in the future, but it wasn't a priority. The remainder stated that they were unwilling to make changes. We are left to create our own solution, that our development team has on the roadmap which should address these issues, allowing stores to continue using our apps and any existing shipping/inventory apps. It is a huge task, so there is no definitive time frame as to when this will be available. We are hopeful for later this year, or early 2016. If you have any other questions or need help with anything else don't hesitate to ask. I'm always happy to help! Cheers! Ron [...]
They got the code in quick with an issue then fixed it a few days later. But it's been weeks I've been reaching out without anything. they just keep emailing me every 5 days saying their closing the ticket. I can't get anyone on the phone. We opted for the more expensive so we could bulk price import but it just say 'service unavailable' every time. Its been almost a month and customers still can't use price levels. SERIOUSLY DISAPPOINTED with the customer service. I was hoping a company with 5 stars would be WAY more responsive. Still waiting for a response and a solution.
After using this app for several months, I've found it not to be all it's cracked up to be. It doesn't integrate with other apps well. Customer service is not great either. I had an issue that went round robin with emails to these folks, who have too many Indians and not enough Chiefs on the other end. In the email string, it went on for over three weeks with the issue never being resolved and then they ended up saying it was my fault. I requested a credit for the month that I couldn't use the app while they were not doing anything to solve it and they simply ignored my request. Not good customer service in my opinion. Customer retention is far more important than a $29.99 credit in my opinion. Not to these folks. They just simply ignore you! If you are a small business, dependent on support of an app for your Shopify store and need fast response and solutions, I would recommend shopping around for another app for your Wholesale needs. I have another issue with the app now and because of the circular email ride I took with them last time, I can't get my problem solved lest I hop on that crazy train again just to get left at the station anyway.
Disapointing. Not up to their promises and poor support. We installed this app about a week ago and sent 5 mails to the supports team. We have not got any replies unless to tell us that they are busy with an other developpment. It does not fullfill their promises: • Offer Customer Specific Pricing (only fixed price which is obvisoulsy useless or percentage). Good maybe for a customer price level as Gold sivler etc... but not other use. No specific price handled per items sold. No variant handled when you are using variants in your products with different price. It set up everything at the same price. • Use this app to offer multiple levels of WHOLESALE Pricing and use your same store for Wholesale and Retail. VERY DISAPOINTING, unless you handle your buinsess just with percentages which is not our case and I trust not the case of many other business. YOU CERTAINLY CANNOT USE THIS APP TO RUN YOUR RETAIL AND WHOLESALES PRICING with one store. We were expecting a specific price edition per items sold handled within the app and we just got percentage or fixed price. Very dispointing as per the reviews we though of using their apps more and more, but for the first one used it is a total ZERO. We hope to get a respond from their support team within the 14 days trial otherwises we will have no other choice to uninstall it and find an other solution elsewhere. We will study the other app available on the shopify store called WHOLESALER see if it does the work better. We will consider twice now from using other app from the BOLD team. Disapointing when you see all reviews telling so much good stuf about it. Also poor support after installing it. We had to ask for help to external developpers to install the app as the installation guidelines are not clear at all.
I ´ve been trying to install this app on my site and I am still trying. I hope this situation will change asap as it have passed two weeks since I installed the app and is still not working properly.
