We really love this app! Although we just use it for 1 or 2 tasks at the moment, it is absolutely worth it. And there are so many more tasks Mechanic could do! Also the customer support is great :)

Mechanic is AWESOME. Learning to create the right task for a job using Mechanic has opened up possibilities for my gigantic store with hundreds of thousands of items. I no longer have to listen to Shopify's native AI assistant explain the limitations of various Shopify admin tools and features. I can simply whip up a script on Mechanic to request exactly what information I want to see and what changes I want to make. When Shopify's tools leave me dry, I can always just tell Mechanic to solve it programmatically. You can turn a raw request like "check my whole store for items with a compare-at price between $0 and $15, and then add $5 to that price" into code that does exactly that, and you can customize reporting and etc on the success of that request. Lean on AI LLM's to help you build your tasks. It's worth it!

Mechanic is a great orchestration/automation tool, but I think more importantly the Mechanic team is what the future of an "outsourced brains trust" looks like. They are welcoming and supportive and they know their stuff.

We’ve replaced several apps with just this one! I've used Mechanic for about a year now. Their huge library of pre-built tasks made it easy to get started auto-tagging customers or orders, scheduling product publishing, sending notifications for big orders. Setup was easy. When I needed something custom (a complex order hold and release workflow), I was easily able to learn enough Liquid to modify an existing task to achieve what I wanted. The documentation is good, and their Slack community is also super helpful. If you've ever thought "I wish Shopify could just do X automatically," this is probably your answer.

Mechanic was the answer to a process issue that has taken us months to solve. We were looking to send customer emails when we add a tag to their order or customer record. The key was the email needed to include order specific fields and customer metafields. We had tried multiple apps over several months and nothing could accomplish this. Then we came across Mechanic. Once it was downloaded and setup for email we were able implement our solution in less then an hour. So easy. This app is wonderful. It has a tremendous library of tasks that can be implemented. We are also using it to schedule sale price changes and reverting back to original price. Highly recommend this app.

Incredible app ! So useful !

Mechanic is our most important app for running our store - it handles all of our workflows on the backend, and helps us automate everything from sales, special events, sending orders to vendors, keeping track of preorder, backorders, inventory, and more. It's incredibly powerful and easy to learn for a developer. The documentation is also great, and there is a community on Slack that is ready to help if you run into anything complicated. The developer is also super responsive when you have questions. Overall, we couldn't be happier with Mechanic! This is the best app on Shopify hands down.

I love this app. I got it specifically to sync my blank t-shirt stock across my inventory so that I could offer a bigger range of products without fear of overselling. It has worked brilliantly for that. But also I have found many other uses, my favourite being getting it to check my entire inventory for a specific SKU and based on that add a new SKU in a new size, meaning I could add a new size of shirt to a couple of hundred items with just a few clicks. As well as monthly randomisation of the product order in some of my collections. Not the cheapest app, but the scope when you start to think about what it can do is really quite incredible.

Matt and his team are exceptional. My developers are in love with this app, and have installed it on all of our stores. If you constantly find yourself thinking 'I wish Shopify would do this..' or find any limitation in Shopify, this app solves it. No gimmicks, no 'it's in our roadmap' it just WORKS. 10/10

Incredibly fast support! Absolutely love using this app, it can do so many things.

I only had a limited time to test some of the features and then forgot about it. When I returned to check on it, after the trial period was ended, I was met with an incredibly aggressive and rude notification in the menu: "This account is suspended, and Mechanic is no longer processing activity for this store." It makes it sound like some massive policy violations took place and you're banned for life for testing their app!

I love this app! Everything that is not possible with Shopify Flow is possible with this app. I've had a few questions / difficulties with tasks and Matt has always answered me very quickly and in detail. Mechanic really takes a lot of automation off our hands that would otherwise have to be done manually. Can only recommend the app!

This is hands down the most incredible app in the app store. Over the years I've used it to automate fulfillment of customized products, support our customer service team with problematic order flagging, build sophisticated data workflows (now that metafields/objects exist), and generally solve so many problems when someone says to me "we need a new app that does X" or "can you source a software that does Y". If you're creative, if you're a systems-minded person...you can almost always leverage Mechanic to solve your complex automation problem on shopify

(March 2025 Edit: 4+ years on and Mechanic is serving us as well as ever. You couldn't ask for a better partner for your Shopify store!) It's rare that I feel passionate about a Shopify App, let alone any app at all. Mechanic however—I'm in love . Shopify has incredible API support, but it can be challenging to make use of the APIs to their fullest, even for a seasoned developer. Even if you have the skills, you still need to build your own application to make use of the APIs, worry about choosing a build environment, hosting, deployment, maintenance, downtime, and all the other stuff that comes with a custom solution. Alternatively, you can use an automator/integrator like Zapier, but then you're limited to the functionality that the automator platform chooses to expose. Mechanic removes all that, and give you access to the full power of Shopify's API's, all using the familiar language of liquid that so many of us developers work with day in and day out. It used to be that if I needed a small custom solution for one of our shops, I would spend days trying to remember how to set up a Ruby environment, get it hosted on Heroku, get webhooks working, and then have a barely working application that did just that one thing and nothing else. Since using Mechanic for the past half-year, I honestly don't think I'll ever build a custom Shopify application again. Mechanic has empowered to me to create all kinds of solutions for our business that I never even considered attempting in the past—the barrier to entry was just too high. With Mechanic, I can just write a task to do whatever I want, and best of all, *have fun doing it.*

Mechanic is such a thoughtful app. It finally solved a small but super annoying issue we’d had for years—our shipping insurance (a digital item) wasn’t auto-fulfilling properly. I’d even reached out to the insurance provider, UPS Capital, but they were completely useless at helping us fix it. It didn’t mess with our day-to-day operations, but it always bugged me. I’d tried every workaround I could think of and nothing worked... until Mechanic. It fixed the issue immediately. Also, the team behind the app is incredible. Real humans who are kind, responsive, and clearly want to help your business succeed. That kind of support is rare. I'm looking forward to finding many more ways Mechanic will help us optimize our backend operations. Highly recommend.

Excellent. You can do incredible things with this app. The support rules, they are so kind and really care about solving your Shopify puzzles and breaking you free of Shopify’s basic limitations! And when I stopped running my Shopify store full time after 10 years, they helped me lower my subscription cost so that I could keep my Mechanic tasks running long term. Fantastic! We needed a custom solution for printing out packing slips for our customers that look nice and included all of the fields we required. Mechanic was that solution! Their support team is also fantastic. I recently had an issue where we accidently deleted one of our custom built tasks. The support team was super responsive and was able to restore the task!

The pricing philosophy is one of the best I've ever seen. The team really does work with you regardless of if you're a small or big revenue merchant. Why is Mechanic the best? Just think Shopify Flow, but on steroids. It can do almost any task to make your backend operations organized and fluid. Need to tag orders that is the customer's first order? Or tagging customer for membership product and removing it after the membership duration is over? There's a task for that. As of now there are 332 tasks in the task library. Best App for Shopify! It saved me a lot of money for custom Apps. With this app I was able to create all features, which I needed for my shop. I created a custom booking platform with all the automated email flows and in addition to that I was able to build an exclusive trainer backend on my shopify page, to get my trainers the possibility to check all the relevant information for their courses and create new courses on their own without accessing the shopify backend and seeing all the numbers and data. Absolute gamechanger! Even if you are not that gifted with the best programming skills it is possible to reach your goals. If there are any problems you have the documentation, the best support I ever experienced and the big as forum, in which i also always got an answer or at least very good tips for my problems. Dont hesitate to reach out for them! Thanks to Matt himself for solving many of my problems through the customer support!!

We initially needed it for funds capture after fulfillment (why Shopify doesn't have this option out of the box is mind boggling) but have found other tasks that have enabled other enhancements for our site as well. This has really opened up a world of possibilities for me as a dev. Any store with an in-house developer or any Plus store that leverages flows should 100% have Mechanic on hand. They have great documentation, amazing support and a phenomenal community too. I've been working on Shopify stores for 5+ years and I've never had a better app support experience.

Useful! Great app tu automate and to integrate with Shopify Flow. Fills-in the needs we have. We neeed to send an email to our customers based on different reasonings and this is possible, thanks to Mechanic. Also we like the ability to tag orders/customers automatically which helps us create flows in Klaviyo. I think we are using 10% of this tool, but we are looking forward to use it more every day. A big thank you also to the team that is always available =)

One doesn't need to be a developer to start adding automatism to own store, but after a while the tool is so useful and versatile that it's almost impossible not to get intrigued from the liquid code to start trying to customize to a higher level. This is were the handy community comes in to place, to find new ideas, to find help or to give help. I like everything about this tool, but more importantly I like the human touch to it! Thanks to the helpful team / owner behind it!

All to often, Shopify App Developers fall short on customer service, especially post-sale. Matt at Mechanic was absolutely amazing during my set up and helped me understand the development process. This app is super helpful, filling all the holes left open by shopify. Basic things that you think you should be able to do easily, but can't on shopify, Mechanic has a task for that.

I don't think you could find 2 people that have a bad a word to say about Mechanic. We are in the process of launching another store and Mechanic was one of the first apps we installed. I think it's a must have for any Shopify store at any level. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination. Simply the best app of its kind we have found. There are 300+ premade templates which cover a ton of what you may need to do, and a community to write custom ones for you if you cannot code yourself (Like us) Highly recommended.

WHAT a brilliant company and app! "did you know Mechanic can do this out of the box without any custom API coding? Click here…” I am using Mechanic to do tasks that I previously used Integromat to accomplish, but using Mechanic is faster, cheaper and arguably better since it is tightly integrated with Shopify. Tasks such as: 1. Capture order payment upon fulfillment Upon the fulfillment of an authorized or partially paid order, this task attempts to capture all open authorized payments for that order. (Multiple authorizations can exist on edited orders or with post-purchase upsells.) 2. Auto-tag orders with UTM parameters This task automatically tags incoming orders with the UTM campaign, content, medium, source, and/or term associated with the customer’s visit. 3. Auto-tag customers when their order is tagged This task watches for order tags, and adds a corresponding tag to the customer whenever a known order tag is found 4. Send an event to Klaviyo when a fulfillment is out_for_delivery yup -- this will replace other apps that do ONLY delivery notifications. so 5, 6, 7 tasks are all fulfillment related. ALL ENABLED WITH ESSENTIALLY ZERO CODE Support was fast to reply when I had a basic onboarding question. The Slack community is also a huge positive. Did I say the documentation is spectacular? Mechanic can be a geeky as you want it to be, but it can also dumb down for non-coders. I'll update this review in a month, then again in a year. But after 7-days, OMG this is a wonderfully powerful addition to any store. 5-stars

Probably the most powerful app on Shopify. Mechanic is a tremendously amazing workflow automation app that we can't live without. It allows for all sorts of tasks (e.g. Tag an order if a discount code is used, send out a discount code if an order contains X, change a fulfillment location based on customer address). There are templated tasks that are also infinitely customizable for your needs. On top of that, there's an incredible Slack community to support it, with super fast response times and contractors who can help develop tasks for your shop at very good prices (+1 Brad as well). Absolutely loving your service so far — an excellent all-in-one platform that extends standard Shopify functionality. It comes with 100+ templates which help complete various tasks: from automatically emailing customers with invite to create an account, to auto-tagging orders and customers. I'm able to close 500 customer service tickets a day thanks to Mechanic. API sync issue with an app? Trigger an email. Need to send with personalized info in 500 emails to customers that meet a criteria ? Tag the orders and automate it with Mechanic. The possibilities are endless.

Best documentation and support for any app I use. their model is about helping us co-create the tools we need, which I think is much better than the "black box" some app creators seems to want to create.

I feel slighted because I can not give 10 stars.. If you have any engineering background and simply need to customize anything within Shopify, this is a MUST HAVE. Their slack channel is completed loaded with extremely professional developers who eat and drink the cool-aid that is MECHANIC!

This is a must have app if you are looking to automate the most repetitive and boring tasks in your store. The support and community are amazing. The only limit is your creativity.
