I signed up for this app, and before it could load, we got an account suspension notice. When I contacted support, the rep said it was for "adult products". We're a family-friendly comics and games store with after school programs, so I was confused. They then cited a mature graphic novel by an award-winning creator, and refused to budge. This seems like a company with serious free speech issues, and likely an over-dependence on AI.

Not impressed with their business model, forcing tiny businesses into $300-400/year payment simply to show when something is low in stock, instead even if I have 999 in stock, it says that.

Developer reply ·

Hi Woodland Herbal, I appreciate you taking the time to share this. I understand the confusion you ran into. When stores use a high stock value (like 999) for made-to-order products, the Low Stock badge can appear unexpectedly if the inventory threshold isn’t configured the way you intend. The badge and the back-in-stock functionality are separate settings, and the threshold can be adjusted so it only appears when inventory genuinely drops below the level you choose. I saw the conversation you had with support where those settings were shared. If it still didn’t behave the way you needed, I’d be more than happy to personally take another look with you and make sure it’s configured properly for your store. I also hear your feedback around pricing — comments like this are helpful as we continue refining how plans work for businesses of different sizes.

This app worked well initially, but for well over a year it has been highly unreliable when it comes to sending email reports. That is deeply disappointing, as without dependable email reporting the product is effectively unusable. We raised this issue on numerous occasions, only to be repeatedly told that the fault lay with our own systems — despite the fact that we use both Microsoft 365 and Google’s email platform. We persisted far longer than we should have, at significant cost to the business. In hindsight, we should have moved on after the ninth or tenth lengthy support session, as the same issue continued to occur without resolution.

Developer reply ·

Thank you for taking the time to share this. You’re right — when a core feature like automated email reporting becomes unreliable, it undermines the entire purpose of the tool. That’s especially frustrating when it worked initially and then degraded over time. Over the past year, we’ve made improvements to how reports are generated and delivered, including strengthening delivery monitoring and fallback handling to prevent inconsistent sending. Reliability in reporting is something we take seriously. We understand the experience you described didn’t meet expectations at the time, and we appreciate you documenting it clearly. If you ever decide to revisit Notify Me!, we’re available to review your setup directly and ensure everything is functioning as intended. — Notify Me! Team

Scraps customer emails for itself and hides customer info

Developer reply ·

Thank you for sharing your concern. We want to address this clearly and directly: Notify Me! does not scrape or collect customer emails for its own use. Customer contact information is processed solely to enable merchant-initiated notification workflows (such as back-in-stock or preorder alerts), and it remains tied to the merchant’s store. We understand how, especially during a short installation or initial setup, certain behaviors or UI limitations can create confusion. Concerns around data handling are serious, and we take them seriously. Our team previously reached out to better understand what you experienced, and we remain available if you’d like to discuss it further. Transparency and merchant trust are fundamental to how we operate. — Notify Me! Team

This app charges $500+/month for one job: send notifications. And it can’t even recognize a valid U.S. phone number if it has dashes or +1. I entered ***-***-**** and +* ***-***-**** (both valid), and the app told me my phone number was “not valid” with zero guidance. If you only accept 10 digits, say “Use **********.” Don’t gaslight users with a generic error. For a paid product at this price, basic input validation and clear error messages are the bare minimum. Right now it’s expensive friction.

STAY AWAY.. They trick u into activating different options, and out of nowhere u have to pay a lot of money! We used them for 4 yrs, but now its over, I will recommend EVERYONE, to find another app if u want secure payment, and an app that u can trust..

Developer reply ·

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and for the frustration this caused; we sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding. During the migration process to our new planning systems, a banner recommended enabling SMS notifications to help grow your revenue, based on your store’s activity. This banner was designed to give customers the opportunity to review the recommendation and make a clear choice before proceeding. Since the SMS toggle was enabled and you confirmed this setting during the migration, SMS notifications were activated. That said, we completely understand how this may still have felt unexpected, and we’re sorry for the confusion this caused. We would love to have you back and invite you to try our app again. We genuinely appreciate the 4 years you spent using our app, and we’re sorry to see you leave under these circumstances. Your feedback has been taken seriously and is helping us improve how we communicate changes more clearly going forward.

Was a great back in stock notification app now they add all these other things that I wont use and want me to pay 200.00+ a year for an app that I wont use 75% of. They should separate the addon stuff and let us pay for what we want to use. Also they wont let you change to any of the lower advertised prices such as the free or the Kickstart plan they only allow the mid to higher tiers to subscribe to. So I guess there are other apps out there.

Developer reply ·

We’re truly sorry for the frustration this caused, and we appreciate you taking the time to share such clear feedback. We completely understand the concern about paying for features that won’t be used most of the time. That’s exactly why there are multiple plans available, so shops can choose the option that best fits their needs and budget, rather than feeling pushed into a tier that includes more than they want. We also want to apologize for how limiting this may have felt during the transition. We updated the pricing plans so we can continue improving the product and create value for shops in the best way possible. After switching to the new plans, shops can downgrade to a lower plan as well. Regarding the Kickstart plan, we’re very sorry for the confusion. As mentioned in our pricing section, this plan was intentionally developed only for Basic Shopify stores in their first year, so we can better support new and young established shops as they grow. One more thing ; our product manager reached out to help directly, but we didn’t receive a reply. If you’re open to it, we’d still really like to help and get this resolved in a way that feels fair. Again, we’re very sorry for the experience, and thank you for raising this.

Suddenly they raised the prices. New prices are ridiculous. Will uninstall now.

Developer reply ·

Thank you for sharing your perspective. We understand that pricing changes — especially after several years of use — can feel abrupt and frustrating. That’s never something we take lightly. Over time, our pricing evolved alongside expanded infrastructure, support, and feature development, but we recognize that the change may not have aligned with every merchant’s expectations. Since then, we’ve continued refining both our feature set and pricing structure based on merchant feedback, including efforts to simplify plans and reduce additional costs around pre-order transactions. Bait and switch! We deployed at $69.90 per month, and they now want $500 a month for a basic out of stock notification solution! avoid!

Developer reply ·

Dear Accurascale, we sincerely apologize for your experience and any confusion caused regarding the recent plan changes. As mentioned in the email we sent you about the retirement of your old Premium plan, “We wanted to share an important update — your Premium plan will be retired on November 30.” In that same message, we offered two options: Upgrade to a higher plan with a 65% discount for 12 months, unlocking more features and higher usage limits if upgraded before the end of October. Stay on an equivalent plan (the new Rocket plan) with a 12.54% early-bird discount for a year if switched before October ended. The Rocket plan — which replaces your previous Premium plan — is $99.90/month, and with the early-bird discount, it would have been approximately $87/month. The $500/month plan you mentioned refers to a different, higher-tier plan (Notify Me Plus), and we understand how this might have caused some misunderstanding. We truly hope this clarification helps and would love the opportunity to have you with us again. Thank you for your feedback — it helps us communicate better and continue improving.

This company offered a decent product, but after we were locked in to their system, they raised the prices by hundreds of dollars per month. Unfortunately it is not a simple process to migrate to a new vendor because Shopify imposes an import limit of 1000 records. If you have lots of customers waiting for notifications, you will not be able to migrate. This company was polite, but offered no assistance in dealing with this problem. Notify Me was an expensive, complicated mistake, avoid.

Developer reply ·

We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience and understand how frustrating this situation must have been. Our goal has always been to provide reliable service with clear communication and transparent pricing. The pricing change you encountered was related to your store being on one of our older legacy annual plans, which functioned differently from our current plans. Our newer plans include additional features such as low stock alerts and wishlists, and we recognize that the transition may not have been communicated as clearly as it should have been. For that, we sincerely apologize. Regarding the Shopify import limit of 1,000 records, we appreciate you highlighting this challenge. Unfortunately, this limitation is imposed by Shopify and is outside of our control. That said, we regret that we weren’t able to assist you further at the time, and we understand how this made migration feel especially difficult. We know how critical back-in-stock notifications are for your business, and we’re sorry that your experience with Notify Me fell short of your expectations. Your feedback has been valuable in helping us improve how we communicate plan changes and support merchants during transitions. If you ever consider giving Notify Me another try, we’d be more than happy to personally assist you to ensure a smooth and transparent experience from start to finish.

Unreliable for Critical Restock We installed Notify Me! to manage restock alerts for our ecommerce store, but unfortunately the experience was very buggy. It took some manual back and forth with their team to get it to work, and when our products were actually restocked, the app failed to recognize the inventory update — it stayed stuck in “out of stock” mode and never triggered the restock notifications. We reached out to support and tried troubleshooting, but the issue remained unresolved for an entire day. For a retail operation, that kind of downtime after a major restock is unacceptable — we put a lot of effort into preparing our drop, only to lose valuable sales and customer trust because the app didn’t function as intended. Support was polite, but ultimately unable to fix the issue in time. I would not recommend this app if you rely on timely and accurate restock notifications to drive revenue.

Developer reply ·

Thank you for sharing your experience. You’re absolutely right — when a restock is tied to a planned drop or revenue moment, reliability is critical. If notifications fail to trigger or inventory isn’t recognized properly, that directly impacts both sales and customer trust. That’s not something we take lightly. Since your case, we’ve made improvements to how inventory updates are detected and how notification triggers respond to restock events. We’ve also strengthened our internal escalation process to reduce resolution time during revenue-critical moments. We understand that the experience you described didn’t meet expectations at the time, and we appreciate you taking the time to document it clearly. If you ever wish to revisit the product, our team remains available to review your specific setup and ensure everything functions as intended. — Notify Me! Team

Absolute rip off...do not use this app. I got charged 287.00 for two products for less than a week

Developer reply ·

Thank you for sharing your experience. We understand how seeing an unexpected $287 charge can be alarming, especially if it wasn’t clear how the plan was structured at the time of activation. Billing for Notify Me! is processed directly through Shopify based on the selected subscription plan, but clarity around plan type (monthly vs. annual) is critical. In this case, our team reviewed the account and issued a full refund once the concern was raised. We also followed up directly to ensure everything was fully clarified. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and remain available if there are any remaining questions. — Notify Me! Team

Product page made no mention of a 3% fee on pre-orders. We removed our previous tech before installing this one (our mistake!) based on the many positive reviews, only to see we must pay a very hefty monthly fee to get the fees down to 2 or 1% on pre-orders. Misleading product page.

I had high hopes for this because it advertises a nice combo of features and has good ratings… but geez it sucks. The tool is extremely rigid and limited in functionality, and customer support is condescending when simple questions are asked… As soon as you install this app it deploys and ugly out of the box configuration to production. It’s unfair to your brand image and customer experience. You have to be ready to attempt customizing the appearance immediately, otherwise… good luck. Conditional logic is not possible. The Wishlist feature is still in beta and you do not want to waste your time trying to use it. Oh and to top it all off it’s 5x more expensive than all other options out there. Annoying

Developer reply ·

First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for the experience you’ve had with our app. We truly understand your frustration and are sorry that the tool did not meet your expectations. Regarding your request and the limitations you encountered, as we discussed in our chat with you, we’ve forwarded your feedback to our technical team for further review. We’re committed to continuously improving and addressing concerns like yours. As for the Wishlist feature, we’ve made improvements since our last conversation, and we hope it will meet your needs better moving forward. Regarding the pricing, we understand your concerns. When customers pay for a plan, they gain access to all four main widgets: Low Stock, Back in Stock, Preorder, and Wishlist. This combination is designed to maximize revenue recovery and enhance customer experience, which we believe justifies the pricing. We’ve always aimed to provide a service that’s worth the value our customers pay, and we will continue working to ensure that. We take all user feedback into account as we strive to improve, and comments like yours are crucial to helping us get better. Once again, we’re truly sorry for any inconvenience you experienced, and we’re grateful for your honest feedback. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to address your concerns. A bit of a rip off. We only send a few notifications, but because we have a high number of 'potential' alerts, we are charged for that. Whilst the notification system is good, I don't require any of the pre order stuff. So, it would be better to have two seperate apps than two rolled in to one.

Developer reply ·

We’re very sorry that our pricing structure left you feeling this way. We completely understand how frustrating it can feel to pay for features you don’t use often. When customers subscribe to a plan, they get access to our full set of tools — back-in-stock, pre-order, Wishlist, and low-stock alerts — all designed to work together toward the same goal: helping businesses recapture revenue that would otherwise be lost due to out-of-stock products. This all-in-one approach is one of our competitive advantages, and we believe it creates the most value for our customers. That said, feedback like yours is very important to us. We continually review our plans and pricing to make sure they meet the needs of businesses of all sizes. Thank you for sharing your thoughts, we sincerely apologize again and truly appreciate you helping us improve.

Arbitrary, Discriminatory, and Ideologically Driven Policy I was shocked to see that this app refuses service to stores selling wine, lumping it into the same category as gambling, weapons, and criminal activities. This is not a business decision, it’s an ideological one, as their Terms of Service even ban anything in “sharp conflict with religions.” This raises serious concerns about how much personal beliefs influence their policies. If you sell legal products like wine, be aware that you will be banned, even though many far more questionable products are accepted without issue. A business should be based on logic, not moral policing. I do not recommend this app for anyone looking for fair and consistent service.

Developer reply ·

They don't disclose before you install that they also charge 3-1% of your preorder revenue, on top of the monthly subscription rate. I'm sure many small businesses aren't aware of this hidden fee. Terrible. Don't be shady, and include in your pricing section.

We’re very sorry for the confusion and disappointment you experienced. We completely understand how frustrating it must have felt to be charged after downgrading. To clarify, when a plan is downgraded there is no immediate cancellation of the current billing cycle , the downgrade takes effect at the end of that cycle. If I could give this app zero stars, I would. When I first installed the app, the submission box had excessive white space and despite my best efforts, I could not troubleshoot on my own though I spent about a couple hours attempting to do so using custom code. I finally reached out to support. Support informed me that "we are not able to service your store according to our terms of service, due to the type of products you are selling." The "types of products" that my store sells are merchandise with a liquor license pending to sell wine but okay. Huge waste of time. Uninstalled and found a much better experience by using "Alert Me! Restock Alerts." Their product actually functions out of the box so that's a win.

Developer reply ·

Hello Brian, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. I empathize with you because we didn't let you know about the restrictions at the time of installations and you have every right to write this review. Our team has reached out to you and hope you will choose to reply to our emails. Product restrictions is based on our terms of service (Found here: https://www.hengam.io/terms-of-use/) which has many mutual product restrictions with apps like Shopify markets. A major reason for this is if our SMS restock notifications include certain keywords, our SMS messages may face delivery issues on some operators and countries which may hurt many other Shopify stores using our app. We understand the frustration and will work on making our guidelines clearer within the app and letting stores know whether they will be unable to use the product at the start. About the issue regarding white space, every store is different and we customize the designs for each store with a click of the button to match your theme. Unfortunately in your case, our customer success representative couldn't help as your store was not within our terms of use. We're glad you found a solution that fits your needs. Thank you for your feedback, and we wish you success with your store. Zara, Customer Sucess Lead

Developer reply ·

Hello, I'm truly sorry for the distress and confusion caused regarding the charges. Please let me address your concerns directly: Unauthorized Charges: As a part of the Shopify platform, we don’t have the capability to charge our merchants without their explicit selection and approval of a plan. Scheduled Charge Post-Downgrade: Shopify charges merchants at the end of their billing cycle, even if they cancel their plan. We, therefore, schedule charges until the end of that billing cycle to allow users to fully utilize the plan they're already set to pay for. If any user prefers not to continue until the end of the cycle, they can reach out to us, and we'll process the refund and cancellation immediately. Refund Delays: We have indeed issued a full refund from our side. The speed at which the refund processes can vary based on individual banks and Shopify's processing time. I understand the concern and frustration this can bring. We genuinely value your trust and feedback. Our team is keen on assisting you further, and we hope you'll choose to reply to our outreach for a swift resolution. Wishing you all the best with your business.
