I cancelled this and I've still been charged. I will update my review if they fix it, otherwise be warned they've doubled the cost I originally agreed to and now I can't unsubscribe and stop paying. Despite cancelling it weeks ago, I'm still being billed for it!
We lost our Website in Mar 26 while we were away. The 'bug' in the software was from Orderly emails. Rewind helped us recover our website from the backups taken by their product. A couple of learning from this exercise might help our customers:- 1. The entire website is not backup probably because some of the linkages is in Shopify code rather than within the database. 2. This would mean what we had to do - manual fixes. 3. You can get a file from Rewind that has some technical data on it for your own backup, however, unless you have access to a Shopify type test environment and a strong programming background, its pointless. In an environment where there are many vendors, Shopify and 3rd party Shopify approved vendors, what we have come to realise is that onus to fix the issue on a single suppier, is largely "absent". If the backup from Rewind does not work or fails to restore the site, the customer is on their own.

We appreciate you sharing your experience. Losing your store is stressful, and we're glad that Rewind's recovery brought your site back. You're right that some items in Shopify, such as menu navigation, will require manual configuration if you want to restore them. To help clarify this, we have a Knowledge Base article on what Rewind backs up and restores for Shopify: https://help.rewind.com/hc/en-us/articles/27722238895003-What-does-Rewind-backup-for-Shopify We hear your feedback about the export of your backup data, and we appreciate your open communication as you worked through your store recovery with our support team. If there's anything else we can help with, you can always reach us at help@rewind.com.
I have successfully restored in the past with Rewind. I used to have a good review for this app. We triggered a blog restore on a Friday and were not able to recover the data until one of their support members restored it manually on the folowing Tuesday. By that time, we were no longer getting traffic on previously highly ranked keyword. If this would have been product data, we would have been out of business for 3 days, since there was nobody on the other side to provide support. A backup tool must have integrity, availability and reliability. By being unable to restore, 2 of these were broken, and my trust on this app with them. Moving to another solution.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience with Rewind has changed from a previous 5-star review. Our support team has followed up and restored your blogs. On the weekend support, we hear you. Our current standard support hours don't include the weekend, but we never want our valued customers to feel left alone. We do our very best to get back to all enquiries as quickly as possible, in the order they are received.
Restore was blocked for 4 days in our other store. Nobody available for help over the weekend. I also don't like you cannot restore specific items. You either restore ALL blog posts or none, ALL products or none, ALL collections or none and so. Switching to other app.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. We understand the frustration of a restore not performing as expected. To clarify on the restore options: Rewind offers both granular, item-level restores and account-level restores. We've reached out regarding your other store, and our support team has fully restored your Shopify store content. We're here if there's anything else we can help with.
was free, they charged me 160 euros. not recommended

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Regarding the pricing update, we provided advanced notice via email to keep customers informed before the change. This was our first price increase in many years, and it reflects substantial added value through continued investments in our product reliability and security. If you have any questions, our support team is available at help@rewind.com.
Used this for more than 3 years. Logged in today and noticed that our account was deactivated because we have not logged in for over 90 days. This is a back and restore app. So we will have a need to login to check only when there is a need for a restore. However, the app did not stop collecting the charges for all these months. To add to the woes, the account restoration also did not work.
Developer reply ·
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. We understand it can be frustrating when needing to re-authenticate your account. Accounts require re-authentication for security reasons after 90 days of inactivity. You can easily re-authenticate by clicking the confirmation link sent to your email. This is a standard practice to protect the integrity of your Rewind account. Rest assured, your backups have been running the entire time. Our support team has reached out directly and remains available to help you. We appreciate your collaboration and the opportunity to sort this out together.
Annoyed they increased the price more than double without warning. You just have to discover it on your bill.
Developer reply ·
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We shared our price update communications via email to help keep our customers informed. We hear your feedback, and we continue to strive to be as transparent as possible about pricing and price updates.
They raised the pricing by double without announcing it. Is there also a bigger benefit ? I found nothing.
Developer reply ·
Thank you for sharing your valuable feedback. Our price update reflects our continued investment in new improvements that enhance the protection of your Shopify store, including: advanced backup and restore coverage for metafields and translations, backups and restores for Klaviyo and Mailchimp at no extra cost, and enterprise-grade security to keep your data safe. We never want our valued customers to feel blindsided by these updates, and we strive to communicate as transparently as possible. I am so angry and annoyed at this back app. I had to restore all my collections and when I did I noticed all the manual sort orders were not there any longer for over 1500 products - reason - just as other poor reviews of this app state they said "due to Shopify’s API limitations not sharing this information". This app KNOWS of the the things which Shopify is not sharing with it as when there is an issue - you are clearly told this when you have an issue restoring. But only then! There needs to be a much better upfront list of what is not backed up as this app is putting you in a complete false sense of security with its fancy weekly emails which lead you to believe everything is being backed up. Well.. the reality is you'll only learn of what is not being backed up when you try and restore. I regret using the app now as the very first time I have needed to use ti - the money invested in having it has not paid off. So I feel it's a waste of time. I could have manually backed up the elements this site is not backing up - if I has been told about them. Very poor on the part of this site. In this situation both Shopify and Rewind Backups were equally useless. Please be aware to quiz this app on what is not being backed up and don't be fooled by all the glossy sales copy from them.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback. Being trustworthy is one of our core values, and we never want our customers to feel misguided on what's supported and unsupported by our backups and/or restores. Although we do back up and restore Smart Collections, we cannot current see, back up, or reliably restore the manual sort order even though Smart Collections themselves will be successfully restored. If you'd like to discuss this further, please contact our support team at help@rewind.com.
Bad app. They more than doubled the price without any warning !!! Shady Shady way of running a business. Was difficult to unsubscribe. Not any guide on their site how to do it. No humans at their chat service. Regrets to have subscribed for more than a year with this company. With the help of Shopify AI I could finally cancel the subscription uninstalling this app.
Developer reply ·
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We shared email communications about this update to keep our customers informed. This price change reflects added value through continued investments in our product reliability and security. To cancel your subscription, log in to your Shopify admin --> select Apps in the sidebar menu --> find Rewind in the list of Apps --> scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Uninstall app". If you experience any issues while uninstalling, our support team is always here to help at help@rewind.com, and our Knowledge Base has detailed guides on how to cancel your subscription.
I do not recommend this app. It no longer backs up inventory tracking quantities, so when you restore listings in Shopify, all items are returned as untracked inventory. Rewind informed me that due to Shopify’s API limitations, they’re unable to properly track inventory quantities within listings. This means that if you need to restore products you accidentally deleted, you still have to manually re-enable inventory tracking for each item and physically recount and re-enter all stock quantities. Given the high price point, the app doesn’t offer nearly enough time savings or functionality to justify the cost.

We appreciate you reaching out and sharing your experience. We strive to be trustworthy and never want our valued customers to feel misled. There are certain things that Rewind cannot yet back up and/or restore, and you can find a list of what's currently supported by Rewind for Shopify here on our Knowledge Base: https://help.rewind.com/hc/en-us/articles/27722238895003-What-does-Rewind-backup-for-Shopify.
company violates shopify subscription policy, and makes cancellation nearly impossible. Had to reinstall and go through a process that was not previously available to "uninstall". I have sent countless emails requesting cancellations and they still charge our account. I also had to reinstall the app just to leave this review, and now will uninstall.

(English: Thanks for sharing your feedback. We did increase prices recently and went to great effort to ensure that price change and the reasoning behind it was communicated with customers. A 1-star review would seem more reasonable if we tried to sneak a price increase through but we respect your choice. Sorry if this translation is not good.)
Terrible experience with Rewind I’ve had this app for over 4 years and honestly, it’s been nothing but disappointing. In all that time, I only needed to use it once—and it failed completely. Their response? An apology and two months of free credit, which didn’t come close to covering the huge amount of work we lost. To make matters worse, they quietly increased the subscription from $3 to $19 without ever notifying us. We ended up paying this massive price hike without even knowing. On top of that, the app is full of bugs. Just yesterday, our store (surface-2-air-sports.myshopify.com) couldn’t even connect because of an ERR_BLOCKED_BY_RESPONSE error. Bottom line: Do not waste your money on Rewind. It’s unreliable, overpriced, and not worth the risk.
Developer reply ·
We’re sorry to see you go. We remember your case and appreciate you working with us as we escalated to engineering to understand the intricacies and find a solution. We know price increases sting. This was our first such adjustment in many years and we did build communications around it so that it wouldn't come as a shock. Whatever the case, we wish you well, and strongly encourage you to keep a backup and recovery solution in place—even if it isn’t Rewind.
The only time I ever needed to revert to a back-up due to a coding mix-up, I learned it was not automatic and I needed to contact someone to do it. With response times taking 2 days each time, it was quite frustrating. You can imagine, when you need to revert your website due to a coding error, you want it to revert asap. I ended up just hiring a coder to fix it. That said, I decided to continue using the app as a fail-safe, just in case. However, with their recent announcement that they are taking a *100%* price increase (yes, 100%) next month, I am moving on to another backup app. I get the cost of business is going up, but for an app with no COGs, no Tariffs, etc, a 100% increase is ridiculous. Bye bye.
Developer reply ·
We’re sorry this didn’t go as quickly as you needed. Rewind backs up and restores themes—including .liquid code—and in most stores, recovery is automated, requiring just a few clicks. In some cases, custom code and ongoing code changes can make an automated rollback more involved. In these cases, we aim to move fast to help. If we missed the mark here, we apologize.
I would strongly caution anyone considering this app. After years of paying for their service, I discovered I had been overcharged more than 50% above the publicly listed plan price for nearly 80 months. The company never informed me of this “silent” price change, and when I raised the issue, they insisted it was correct — despite their own archived website and Shopify App Store listings proving otherwise. To make matters worse, they recently announced yet another price increase, even though the first one was never communicated transparently. Their explanations shifted, citing plans that simply never existed, which only undermines confidence further. This kind of billing practice feels dishonest and predatory, especially toward long-time customers who trusted them. After this experience, my trust in this company is completely gone. There are other backup apps available on Shopify that offer the same features at the advertised prices — I’d recommend exploring those instead.

We're sorry for your frustration. To clarify, this is the first price adjustment in many years and we communicated it clearly. We have not raised prices silently. Ever. That's not how we operate. If we can clarify anything further, please reply to our email.
Not worth it. We have paid for over 3 years and never needed to use it once. Canceled due to a 533% price increase (from $3 to $19/month), with no noticeable improvement in value. Sudden price hikes like this break trust, especially for a "just-in-case" app. Hope this feedback helps others make an informed decision.

Data disasters happen all the time. We're glad you've never experienced one and we hope you never do. You don't have to use Rewind but we would caution that having a backup—and a way to restore data seamlessly in event of a disaster—is a must. Rewind is about preparedness and knowing that if you ever have a problem, you have a clear, quick path to get back to business as usual.
Hidden/obfuscated process for canceling subscription - 1 star every time.
Developer reply ·
We’re sorry to hear you felt the cancellation process was unclear. For security reasons, cancellations can only be made by a store admin. This is intentional, and in line with best practices like zero trust and least privilege access. While that extra step may be inconvenient, it’s there to prevent unauthorized changes to critical apps like backups. We’ll continue to look for ways to make the process clearer.
There are other better options. Some of our SKUs got corrupted due to an incorrect file upload. The back-up restore feature did not work. When we contacted support, there was no response. When they need to increase your plan and charge more money, they seem to have enough resources for that. This app has proved to be useless to us. Find someone else.
Developer reply ·
We’re sorry we didn’t meet your expectations. We know how frustrating it is when things don’t go as planned. There are always edge cases and restoring data after complex updates can sometimes require extra context from the team involved. We’ll use the experience to keep improving how we support our customers.
After doing a backup, certain in-text images did not get restored. Contacted support, although they were nice, could not fix the issue and said that Rewind Backups does not include these images. I had to manually fix many, many product pages and put these images back. Then, a few weeks later these images were again removed, without doing a backup. Again, this is costing us many hours of manual work to restore these images. We had a paid subscription and expected better performance. If you are looking for an app that restores ALL aspects of your site, including all images, then don't use this app.
Developer reply ·
Thank you for your feedback and sorry for the hassle you experienced with restoring images. To clarify, Rewind backs up and restores the exact HTML of your product descriptions, along with images that are properly attached to Shopify resources like products, variants, and collections. In your case, some of the images were added as standalone media via hard-coded URLs, which unfortunately means they weren’t linked to Shopify objects and couldn’t be included in the backup. The best way to ensure full image coverage is to upload them using Shopify’s image picker. That way, the images are “attached” and Rewind can capture and restore them automatically. We appreciate you highlighting this. Your feedback helps others avoid similar pain and gives us insight into where expectations can be clearer. Thanks again.
App did not backup and restore Variant data and metafields. The AI Chat and help files inform of API limitations, but other Apps can do it. Look elsewhere and save yourself the pain of data loss.
Not possible to download the created back up :( you have to write to support by email.. why? If we talking about personal data - you can do it through shopify directly in a few click.
i uninstalled and im still being charged monthly
If you have thousands of products, do not rely on this. Our store has thousands of products, I accidentally deleted some, so i used this app to restore all products to a date before I deleted the products. For some reason this app changed the assigned variant image for hundreds if not thousands of products to display the wrong image. I havent been able to check how many products this app has messed up. Update: in response to their response. I went back and forth with their support for a while, the end result was them telling me they could not reproduce the isssue, no fix.

Today i have used the restore of date 13-AUG-2023 even 12-AUG-2023. This app not bringing my site back to normally, while my site was working perfectly fine till 14-AUG-2023. Is there any responsible person from your team to fix my issue. It is a serious issue

Hi there, We’re sorry to hear that your restore did not work as anticipated! Our team has been following the progress on your current ticket and can confirm that both our Support and Development teams worked quickly to investigate this for you. It looks like the theme Restore worked how it was meant to. Still, there appears to have been some confusion around Rewind functionality and how the items originally appeared at the time you chose to restore back to. Please be assured that we will always work with you to restore your data as quickly as we can and as accurately as we can. We would love to continue having a conversation with you and share what we can do to help assure you of our commitment to backing up your data. We kindly ask that you respond to our email or get in touch with our team at help@rewind.com as we would love to keep discussing this with you!
The restores don't work. I have had 1 major and 1 minor restore, and both failed. You can't get any answers quickly, and my issues never get resolved. I was never able to recover the deleted information in a restore.

Hi Julia, Thank you for choosing Rewind to backup your store. We’re happy you were able to resolve this issue with Logan from our Support Team. It looks like with Logan’s assistance you were able to access your Rewind Vault where all of your historical Shopify store data (since the first day you installed Rewind) is securely stored. We kindly ask our customers to get in touch with our team at help@rewind.com with any issues prior to leaving a review. We have a dedicated Support Team available 7 days a week to troubleshoot, help restore data or access your backups, and answer any questions you may have.
Where is my copy of my Database? i want the copy of my database. that is why I got the plan for. Thank you
Developer reply ·
Hi Lexor, Rewind is a cloud backup service. We make continuous backups of your store data, which you can view and restore from within the Rewind app. It sounds like this is not what you were expecting when you installed Rewind, and that you are looking for a downloadable copy of your store data. We understand the desire to have an extra copy of your data, so for that reason, we offer backup exports on request. If you would like a backup export from Rewind please get in touch with us at help@rewind.io.
We have been with Rewind for over 1 year now, and we just came across an overcharge of $6 per month over our $10 per month subscription. When we asked why? we were told " oh you are in the old subscription " which is 65 orders per month". Yet we NEVER got an email to upgrade or enhance our subscriptions, There must be over 200 customers being effected by this, which to me is shady business. Why did you not automatically upgrade the customer who had 65 orders per month since they are paying $10 and the 200 orders per month is only $9? why were you taking an extra $7 per month from your customers? When we asked for a refund or a credit the answer from support was " No so we did charge you accordingly for the plan you were on, if you would like to switch plans today you can avoid overage charges in the future" When we asked for when exactly was the new subscription introduced to we can back track it and only get a refund from that date onward we were told " I do not have an exact date as to when the order based plans were introduced. " This is shady and not good honest business, we will raise this concern to shopify and we will delete this app immediately. This is our story, honesty is key in any business, and being grandfathered in a subscription has always been the case with many companies, but unfortunately not this one. Take from this what you will.
Developer reply ·
We understand that being billed more than you were expecting can come as a shock. At all times we do our best to be as transparent as possible about historical plans and we will never force anyone to change a plan that’s working for them. The plan you had originally signed up for came with overage charges. This is not something we attempted to conceal and something that at the time was clearly listed on our page. We would backup your store up to 20,000 items - and for every 2500 extra items above that threshold we charged $2. This plan became a grandfathered plan in the wake of new plans we introduced in 2019, but as many of our clients were getting a better deal on the old plans, we didn’t force anyone to upgrade - nor could we even if we wanted to in accordance with Shopify’s billing procedures. We understand however that despite all this, it did come as a surprise which is why a full refund has been initiated with Shopify’s billing team. Our support team is also more than willing to help you upgrade to our new plans which will save you some money if that is what you want to do. Please contact us at help@rewind.io or reply to any of our outreach to you.
They charged me without asking me.I dont recommended!!!! this is not honest.I'm very angry!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there, As we bill through Shopify, we must receive your approval prior to being able to charge you. We can see that you selected and approved the charge for your plan on June 11th, 2019 at 2:49AM EST. Regardless, if you feel you may have selected the wrong plan or weren't happy with the product, we will gladly refund you. Please contact our help team at help@rewind.io to arrange for your refund.
We use Quantity Breaks from Bold Commerce. Been using it for years. Products C500 to C599 and other products were added to Quantity Breaks because the Price Breaks had "Disappeared". Rewind destroyed all our additions to Quantity Breaks. If point of fact we have over 1100 products in Quantity Breaks. REWIND REMOVED Over Two Thirds of our products from the price grid we set up 3 to 4 years ago. Use Rewind at your own risk.

Rewind cannot make any changes to third party applications - we have no ability to modify the data in any application other than the ones we backup - Shopify, Mailchimp and QuickBooks Online. Please contact our support team so we can provide assistance and determine what happened. We reached out to you by email and phone immediately after seeing this review.
I don't have very many products and signed up for the free plan. I don't know how it's possible that they are now charging me $ 8-month fee as saying I have 5000+ records when I don't even have a hundred products. Slimy, sneaky people. Distrust very much! Oh, and they have a no refund policy!
Developer reply ·
Thanks for choosing Rewind to backup your store. We have a very flexible refund policy that will refund any charges to customers who aren't happy with our service. In your case, you were being billed for the total number of items in your backup, not just the number of products. This would have been explained when you subscribed to Rewind. We'd be happy to refund you the $8 fee - simply contact us at help@rewind.io or 1-855-5-REWIND and we'll refund you the full amount.
