ShipInsure Shipping Protection

ShipInsure is top tier: from onboarding, customization, claims, and check-ins, their team is super responsive and helpful. I wanted to customize the widget in our cart so that it was abundantly obvious ShipInsure was optional. Despite this being a bit of an unusual request, they implemented all our requested changes and we are still at the top end of adoption rate for their benchmarks. They've also been super open to feedback and input on improving the platform and insights for future offers. If you're a growing brand looking for an excellent way to improve customer experience and reduce the inevitable losses from USPS losing your packages, ShipInsure is a no-brainer.

After being with one of ShipInsure's competitors for a few years, we made the switch earlier this year to ShipInsure, which has provided some much needed flexibility and customization capabilities we did not have with our previous solution. This app is causing fraudulent activity on my website. Criminals are utilizing it to test credit card information and in turn I’m being charged for the cancellations/refunds. Either the app or Shopify need to add parameters to prevent this for now I have uninstalled the app.

Super happy so far! Drew and Morgan have been awesome to work with, quick responses and very informative. We launched ShipInsure on our website today and immediately had customers opting in to the shipping protection. Update: We experienced a strange issue after uninstalling this app from our Shopify store, a bot exploited leftover app content (even though the app was removed) to run test transactions using stolen credit cards. A few $1 purchases went through for ShipInsure, resulting in chargebacks and fees for us. However, I want to emphasize this: the developers responded immediately, took full responsibility, and explained that this was a rare anomaly. They’ve since fixed the underlying issue, ensured our store was fully disconnected, and even reimbursed us for the chargeback fees. Their support was honest, attentive, and personal – even after we had removed the app. Now that the problem is resolved, I’m back to recommending this app. It’s a solid solution for merchants who want to add insurance options to their shipments, especially for higher-value items and orders. It also gives peace of mind to customers while offering a potential extra revenue stream for the store. Great app, and great people behind it. Thank you for your great service!

It doesn't work at all, they only take data from the store and don't give anything

We thought installing this app would be best for business since it could help resolve any shipping issues that customers may face. Unfortunately this was not the case. We had two customers reach out regarding shipping issues their orders because ShipInsure did not fulfill their role of properly protecting the packages from issues. One customer explained how their damaged item claim was initially approved and then a few days later, ShipInsure implied "oopsie, nevermind" and denied their claim. How does a claim get approved and then denied... this is not take backsies. To add, they have already refunded this customer which means us as the small business has suffered a loss. Another customer said that their claim was not even properly reviewed as the claim was automatically closed right after submitting. They did provided all of the requested documentation such as photos of the damaged items. ShipInsure denied the customer's claim after the customer reached out to them regarding the issue. It seems like ShipInsure is happily accepting insurance premiums but once issues arise, they do not want to fulfill their part of paying by automatically marking claims as fraud to deny them and ignoring emails. The customers also sent in evidence of their damaged items and both of these customers experienced these shipping issues for the first time so it is extremely unlikely that these claims were fraudulent.

Zero response to inquires and virtually no customer support makes this app a severe challenge. The app works, but is completely non-customizable. You cannot change the amount charged, you cannot change the refund or replace options. The only saving grace is that they actually pay out when claims are made. If replacements are requested though, you will probably lose money compared to a refund if you offer free shipping, and there is no way to turn this off.

Wyatt Branch guaranteed us a $100 gift card (which previous employee Yaz Nuri did not send to us) and never received it. He promised an additional $50 for using their app and once set up, he didn't send it again. This app seems like a scam!

Using ShipInsure for package protection has been a game changer! I used to spend a lot of time on the phone or over email contacting different shipping companies regarding lost packages, but now customers are able to file a claim on their own for their missing packages. This has saved me so much time and the customers are happier receiving a resolution in a timely manner. If I ever have any issues, I just send an email and I receive a reply back.

Support doesn’t respond to emails. Takes forever to get paid on claims and get this, they want to give you a bill credit for payment instead of paying the claims back to you. If the support would be more attentive I would be inclined to use their service but it’s a deal breaker when I email them 3-4 times and don’t ever receive a response.

At first, everything seemed promising—the product does work, but it has its limitations. I can’t set my own pricing without contacting them directly, and even then, it takes weeks for any changes to be made. Their support team completely disappeared after I asked basic questions, like why we were getting charged on our credit card and how their business model actually works. We’re being billed thousands and receiving reimbursements, but it’s all confusing, and we’re left without clear answers on how the whole process functions.

We used to spend hours each week dealing with carrier claims. ShipInsure has allowed us to avoid this entirely and is also making us money. I'm very happy with this app.

The support from this app is just terrible! Poor customer service, they don't respond to you after eamiling them several times, but they'll respond fast when they get reported to shopify. I've had the app on my store for over a month now and it has yet to be set up correctly. Support is pretty much non existant now. Will definitely look into another app cuz nobody has time to deal with all this nonsense.

This app offers great insurance rates for shipping above what most carries would cover. It is also conveniently available for customers to simply add to their shopping cart order. Their support is expedient and not afraid to discuss issues by phone conversations. I would recommend this app!

Customer service is great and very responsive. I do like this app, however, they do not cover shipping + taxes for customers, which other apps do. They said they are going to update this in the future. I am going to stick with them because I do feel like they have a lot of potential and I do like how easy it was to install.

Would mark it zero stars if I could. App causes variants to not work with certain themes in shopify and their support was zero... Been a couple weeks and still no reply other than wanting to know what I removed the app.
