Positive - The support is available quickly to help you on the integration part - They follow up on topic even after you close the conversation Negative - Integration does not contain anyway to capture the customer language (critical on my use case) - Critical data retention issue. Note that even after you disconnect the Shopify from Mailchimp all your contacts will remain in Mailchimp (even if the pop up says otherwise). - Moreover, if you delete manually the contacts, they remains in "hidden database". How do I know this ? I tried to synch them back and support told me it is impossible because you deleted them in the past ! Oh yeah, how do you know this without keeping a record ? We don't have the same definition of deletion I have strong concerned now about the data policy of Mailchimp. Mailchimp : I am opened to edit my review if you prove me otherwise for the data retention issue. For now, support did not convince me

Mai gave great customer support when I had a automation flow problem. She was able to fix the issue but after leaving the chat and adding a new field to the form, the automation failed again and two subsequent support staff were not able to fix the problem. I was told the matter would be escalated but I've heard nothing and its been 24 hours. I am leaving Mailchimp, spent too many hours formatting emails and it has come to this. Not happy.

Could never get any help. Despite 2 "onboarding" calls (one of which I was told to call tech support for an emaill??? not!) They charged me 4 times for 4 different things, despite repeated emails, uninstalling the app and deleting it. NO ONE listened to the actual issue (which wasn't technical) and they won't delete the charges. So I'm notifying my Attorney General... Maybe now you'll pay attention???????

I signed up for Mailchimp’s Essential plan, but without my consent they automatically switched me to a more expensive plan and charged me extra. The reason? Simply importing contacts — even though not all of them are subscribers. In the end, Mailchimp only recognized 302 active emails, yet they forced me into a higher tier and billed me more. This feels completely unfair and misleading. If I had actually used a larger audience, I could understand the cost increase. But being charged for contacts that aren’t even active subscribers makes no sense. To make things worse, the system gives you no clear warning before upgrading and charging extra. It feels like a trap to push users into paying more. I regret choosing Mailchimp — the pricing model is deceptive, support is slow, and instead of helping small businesses, it takes advantage of them. I will be canceling and moving to another platform.

If you have too many different customer tags in Shopify, this app stops syncing any customer tags. We've spent 3 weeks full-time trying to fix this with no luck. Then it synced tens of thousands of old contacts from Shopify to Mailchimp with no way to filter them out, doubling our Mailchimp costs due to extra subscribers. We will have to pay a developer to build a custom Shopify-Mailchimp syncing app to compensate for this app's deficiencies. Edit: I've tried all combinations of options, including trying to only sync specific tags. That didn't work either.

Developer reply ·

Hi there, thank you for the feedback and sorry to hear about the issues you are facing. If you wish to sync all tags against your Shopify contacts, then it is true that our integration has an upper limit of 5000 unique tags. However we can help you set up the integration to only sync specific tags as well. Please get in touch with our integration support team via mc-integrationsupport@intuit.com. We're here to help!

In the prices listed on Shopify, it says that the price for the essential plan is $13 per month for up to 50,000 contacts. Once the app is installed, however, they ask for €345. Also, the app is very slow and the chatbot on their support site doesn't work... with what face do they ask for all this money?

JUST A MASSIVE RIP OFF. Great sales pitch...so I signed up, only to find that a massively complex set up include DNS settings. Because I have 45,000 contacts it then charged me for all of these despite only 21,000 being subscribers. So, so far not 1 email sent and £500 in charges. Avoid these people like the plague.

Not sure what happened to Mailchimp but my bills started out reasonable but as my business grew, my bill ballooned into this extreme amount each month. What’s worse is when I went to cancel, they charged me even more for “additional contact blocks” what for? No clue… …. Felt like they were holding my account as ransom and I had to pay $100 to close my account to avoid the new monthly fee from hitting my card…. There are a lot of options out there, choose one of them.

Thank you for the details. Additional contact blocks are used when the number of contacts exceeds a plan type. We'd like to review your account billing to explore potential cost-saving options.

*** A Terrible Experience with Mailchimp – Unfair Billing Practices *** My experience with Mailchimp has been highly disappointing, and I cannot in good conscience recommend their service. I initially chose Mailchimp as a backup system for my emails, using the Essentials plan at $11.00 per month. However, at some point, they shifted to a business model that, in my opinion, is unfair. Their two-tier billing system charges inflated prices for a Contact Block with 250 contacts, even though they could simply switch customers to an Adjusted Plan—which costs half the price. Billing Issues & Lack of Customer Support On January 26, 2024, we contacted Mailchimp to pause our billing after our system was spammed with thousands of fake sign-ups, which inflated not only our Mailchimp charges but also affected other integrated systems. Our message was clear: "We have a problem with our list, which has grown beyond expectations due to spam. Can you set our billing on hold while we try to find a solution? As you can see, we are not sending out any campaigns from our account." Despite this explicit request, Mailchimp continued billing us every month, totaling $3,990.25. When I followed up again on January 26, 2025, their response was a generic, unhelpful email: "Hey there, Thanks for being patient with your Mailchimp support request. We apologize for our slower response times as we are experiencing extremely high volume. If the above information does not help, please ensure you are writing from the account's owner/admin email address and reply to this email. We will prioritize your reply and reach out as soon as we can. We appreciate your patience!" Meanwhile, they continue charging my card $516.75 per month. Unfair Practices & Difficult Cancellation Process To make matters worse, Mailchimp has made it unnecessarily difficult to disconnect from Shopify. When attempting to remove the integration, they display an alarming message: "Are you sure you want to disconnect? Disconnecting your Mailchimp account will cause any Shopify data that's been synced to be deleted from Mailchimp. That can't be undone!" Final Verdict: Think Twice Before Using Mailchimp Mailchimp's billing practices and lack of customer support make them an unreliable and frustrating choice for email marketing. If you're considering Mailchimp for Shopify or any other platform, I strongly advise you to think twice before committing.

Mailchimp has really gone down hill since they were acquired by Intuit. This app is terrible because it is now spamming my new customers with double-opt-in emails - some customers get those emails every day for a week straight, even though double-opt-in should be deactivated. The app is broken, it HAS BEEN broken for like 2 months, and they still haven't bothered to fix it. This makes me very upset. And I pay a lot for their services. I no longer feel it is worth it.

I found over recent years the integration with Shopify has improved, but its still far from the level other mail solutions are at. The final straw for writing this review has been trying to pause / deactivate a simple pop up / sign up form. Despite doing this there is still code / script on our site and we are left with a generic sign up form which mailchimp support can not help with. We are advised to hire "an expert" to solve this ! heck we just want to turn off a pop up form and try another one ... well this final straw will be the catalyst to finding another Email solution. Update .. now they want me to update my review .. OK well how is this. After MailChimp told me over and over that this was our issue and to hire an expert to remove the code ... Turns our it was their issue and their Developers identified the problem and removed the code. Their support was unwavering is their response that this was our issue. But we would not give in. Then in the end No Apology.

STAY AWAY!!! Go to another email service!!!! I am opening a brand new small business, which is why I chose to open my website with Shopify. I am new to all of this, so despite Mail Chimp's DISMAL ratings as a Shopify app, I decided to try them anyway. BIG MISTAKE! On my company IG, I advertised an email campaign launching tomorrow, so yesterday I decided to do a test run with the automation to make sure everything ran well, and their STUUUUPID AI software flagged my account for terms of use violations, which completely disabled the entire account. Literally the email had all of two paragraphs introducing the brand with my own proprietary photography and copy, and I only sent the test emails to myself and my husband. There's nobody to call, and their online chat is with a bot. So I wrote them emails, I opened a ticket, I did everything to fix it before the date I promised to subscribers. Twelve hours later, at midnight, I finally got a response from Evelyn, she sent me a series of questions demanding to know where I got my email addresses (again, the test run only had myself and my husband) and I have under 20 subscribers total, all of whom subscribed through my landing page on Shopify. My Shopify store isn't even open yet, and they demanded the website's private password to go in and make sure it's a real website? That's where we left off over TWELVE HOURS ago - my account is still suspended and I had to call of sick for work tomorrow so I can try and troubleshoot this, which will now include re-writing all of my email campaigns with a new provider. As a brand new small business owner, this is just.... shocking. A total nightmare. So, like I said, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! ANYWHERE else!!!

Don't waste your time with this app, their platform is primitive, you spend hours configuring everything according to the instructions, you leave everything ready and supposedly approved, the time comes to send the email and they suspend your account, why didn't you tell me from the beginning that there was a problem? Now the solution is to write to customer service and ask someone to answer so they can tell you why they suspended what they had initially approved.

I've used Mailchimp in the past and it was great but I can now see why all the reviews are so bad. It feels like a bait-and-switch scheme. You expect to pay $13 a month, according to what you see in the Shopify app section, then go to their website and find that it's $40/mo. Then you start setting things up and the price starts showing up as $69/mo. Do you know what happens after a customer feels deceived? Uninstall.

This app was hugely disappointing and has resulted in a lot of wasted hours. I transferred over to mailchimp as it was recommended to me, only to find so many hidden fees (e.g. trying to connect a simple landing page to my URL meant I needed to pay extra every month on top of what I already am going to be paying). When it came to email campaigns, the mobile version was extremely disappointing and a simple change (like including two products side by side) only worked for the desktop and not the mobile version (the mobile version instead would stack the products and make them look huge as well as make the writing appear either ridiculously small or abnormally huge) - the only way to change this I was told was to get it custom coded (spend money hiring a coder). It seems this app does not tailor to small businesses who do not have access nor can afford to hire someone to custom code all the time. Customer service was as helpful as they could be - which was to recommend we hire an expert every time. Totally disappointing, I now have to spend time going elsewhere and starting again. Would not recommend at all.

Glitch in app that can cause wildly inflated bill. Reported the issue to mailchimp who said there is no way to prevent shopify from unarchiving currently archived contacts. For us that meant a one day spike in the number of our active customers. That meant a bill that went from just over $100 a month to over $800 for a month. Watch out for this glitch or you may be overcharged yourselves.

They are very expensive and offer no support until you pay for a plan. Then theres these content blocks that get added automatically. I dont know how someone could actually pay $11 a month... Be prepared to be charged the first $70+ the first month for their cheapest plan... Oh! And now that you paid, you can get support, right? Well, not really. I have never once received a response to my emailed support tickets and the chat is a huge joke. Expect to be online with them, getting absolutely no answers, for about 2 hours before they say they have to escalate it and to expect a response by email... However, there will be no email, as previously mentioned. And there huge glitches with their automations. One random day in December they sent Welcome emails to 7000 of my customers and have yet to explain why this happened. They have been sending abandoned cart emails to customers 5 hours after that customer completes a purchase. When I tried to test it myself, I received an abandoned cart email 24 hours after I abandoned my cart (when it is set to 5 hours) and its missing whole blocks of personalized product recommendations. When I check on mailchimp, the blocks are there... This is extremely embarrassing to my brand and I will be moving to a different company.

Used to be good and for a great price, but have continuously increased the pricing so that they are now one of the most expensive for fewer extras than their competitors. Have been with Mailchimp for over 7 years, but the last price hike was one too many I'm afraid. Now moving to another company!

Hey there. We understand that it can be frustrating to pay for features you don’t use. We’ve made significant improvements to our platform experience, our core email offerings, and launched features like our Customer Journey Builder, AI-enabled content tools, and more app integrations to help our customers solve their biggest challenges and run and grow their businesses more effectively. If you haven’t already, we encourage you to take a look at our What's New page to discover tools that can help increase engagement with your contacts: https://mailchimp.com/whats-new/ If you’re looking to lower your price, we encourage you to review your current plan type, contact tier, and audience size to determine if it’s bigger than you need. You can try re-engaging inactive subscribed contacts and archiving those who don’t respond. This may reduce the number of contacts in your billable audience, allowing for a smaller contact tier, which will reduce your monthly price. Do not download and DELETE this app from your Shopify store immediately. They have resubscribed thousands of customers ranging back from 5+ years ago who have unsubscribed from my emails. Upon emailing them about it and asking them to call me immediately, they informed me that phone calls are only for premium plans. WHAT? Had to delete it immediately, and continue to apologize to thousands of customers.

Lost over 10k of my audience somehow as Mailchimp have moved away from Shopify then back after buying ShopSync. Very dissapointed to say the least! :( **UPDATE** I am not sure why they have edited the review to make it seem like there is a solution. After going back and forth with a rude customer service agent who took 24hours to reply and made it seem like my fault, they finally offered me £50 - As if this fixes the 2-5k audience loss i have had. I WANT A SOLUTION! How embarrasing i carried on using this app when there is so many better options out there. I was using Mailchimp for 3 years with no issues up until today. Like normal, I scheduled a campaign last night with my correct number of subscribers and this morning my campaign delivered to only a fraction of my subbies because 1,200 subscribers had been deleted by Mailchimp. What is going on? This is the busiest shopping season of the year--Can someone at Mailchimp reverse this error?

I had been using this app since it was Shop Sync when Shopify and Mailchimp split up. Suddenly this past Sunday 3979 contacts were deleted from my mailing list. I just discovered this tonight and they are telling me to make a new list and resync all the contacts. This does not fix the problem because all these contacts had already updated preferences about which emails to get and discovering this the night before I launch a project 7 years in the making has me fuming. I will be leaving Mailchimp, I had been a customer since 2008. All they are saying is we know this is unsettling. This is a bug on their end but the small businesses are paying the price. Total Garbage. I just want all my contacts back so I can export the list to a new company. The other thing I just realized is syncing the contacts again could cause some folks who have unsubscribed to get emails again, which then flags the account and causes more problems.

Unsubscribed shopify customers are synced to mailchimp when setting up the connection between shopify and mailchimp. This is unnacceptable because of data privacy reasons, unnecessary workload reasons (deleting them) and financial reasons. It could and may exceed the max. amount of recipients of your current mailchimp plan. Keep this in mind when using the new app.

Developer reply ·

Hi there, thank you for your patience while we researched your comments. Before any data is processed by the integration, we perform integrity checks with Mailchimp to ensure these customers can be sent to the Audience that is connected. For example, if someone has opted out of an Audience in the past, we won't add the email again. We'll also update Shopify with the correct status that Mailchimp shows. That way, the most current subscriber status in Mailchimp is synced with the store. Lastly, after the initial sync is complete, we'll add customers that visit your store who are deemed transactional as well. That way, you can use Mailchimp's automations to trigger abandoned carts and order notifications. If you do not want these customers in your Audience, you could archive these periodically. Here's a link on how to archive inactive contacts https://mailchimp.com/help/remove-inactive-contacts/ and here’s an article on archiving and unarchiving your contacts: https://mailchimp.com/help/archive-unarchive-contacts/ Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our customer service team for more information, we are happy to help!

In my 2 decades of working in/around Technology platforms and companies, I have never come across one with such lack of customer support as this one. No one ever responses real time (or close) to chat. Email, you are lucky if you get a response and if you do, you are paying pro to get links sent to you for the free articles. One thing we needed with synching our emails was to move our tags to group of our emails. Tags will not come over and there is ZERO SUPPORT EVEN IF YOU PAY. Nightmare - just stay away. Might even need to reconsider MailChimp for recommending this as a tool to use!

any help at all is reserved for pro. Absolutely horrible customer service because there is none unless you meet a certain requirement. At the very least your app should work as promised, even without support. Edit to respond to the reply: I connected with your team by mistake. Your team immediately told me that they wouldnt help me without looking at the message and told me if I wanted help I'd have to upgrade to pro. They could have read my email acknowledged that it was an error and send me kindly on my way. they did not however do that. Instead they sent a canned response that was completely irrelevant to the email. Which IS the definition of horrible customer service. I use your service and had this experience and decided it was noteworthy to share. I received a nice email response from the founder who addressed the issue. There's a lot of work that needs to be done on ur csr dept.

You totally broke my list. Subscribers are now switched to transactional only. You only brought over a small fraction of my order data. You archived a dozen automations, that I now have to recreate. MailChimp is telling me that I have to manually re-subscribe those subscribers, even though I took a backup. I guess you get what you pay for. This is beyond frustrating.

We have experienced the same horrific issue of repeat customers getting booted from our email list if they do not continually opt in with each transaction, and if we don't continually opt in for them when checking them out via the Shopify POS. This is such a costly "glitch." I see your response and that Shopify is supposedly looking into this. But, this response has been posted for months. Is there really no fix yet from Shopify?

After an existing subscribed customer buys anything, it changes that subscriber in Mailchimp to a "Transactional Only" customer. Been a nightmare to resolve and re-add all of our great customers.

Developer reply ·

Hi there, thank you for your feedback. After extensive testing, we've figured out how this could be happening after finding a bug in Shopify during checkout. We've been in contact with their technical team, and they have acknowledged this is a glitch on their end. They are working hard to deploy a fix for this problem. Here's why you are having the previous subscribers moved to unsubscribed (or transactional). 1. Let's say jim@gmail.com checks out in your store and opts out of marketing on their first checkout. In Shopify, this customer is NOT subscribed at this point. 2. Later on, you decide to connect ShopSync with an existing Mailchimp Audience. 3. jim@gmail.com IS currently subscribed in Mailchimp in this example - perhaps you gathered their email address previously via another platform or curated them from a pop-up/landing page or social media. 4. With ShopSync now connected, jim@gmail.com comes back to place an order for the second time, and this time they opt-in at checkout. 5. Here's the bug...Shopify doesn't update that customer to be subscribed to marketing on the second order. 6. Because the user is still deemed to be opted out of marketing, Shopify passes this information to Mailchimp as unsubscribed; if they don't complete the checkout, they would be marked as transactional. The only workaround we can advise is to resubscribe the customer via the Shopify admin manually. This action will POST a customer update to Mailchimp with the correct subscriber status to your Audience. Thanks again for the feedback, but please understand the unsubscribe behavior is not because of ShopSync specifically. Because of the bug, any app listening to a customer update from Shopify would pass the wrong information at this point on the customer's marketing status. We don't have visibility into Shopify's product release or bug fix roadmap, but I'm happy to reach back out directly when this issue is patched. In the interim, please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help. **UPDATE** Shopify has notified us that this issue has been resolved with previous customers as noted above. They will no longer be unsubscribed in this scenario. We have tested ourselves and is working as expected.

Despite following every detail of the instructions provided by Mailchimp to pause and migrate our automated Welcome email series and Abandoned Cart series (which wasn't exactly rocket science), they are not working. Contacted ShopSync about it, they told me to talk to Mailchimp. Round and round we go... Update: After some expected back & forth with Mailchimp I had to re-create my automations and deleted the old ones that weren't working. So far things seem to be okay, but it really shoudn't have been so hard. I feel if you're going to roll out a "solution" like this that allows people to still use Mailchimp after their messy breakup with Shopify, it should be ready to roll without the end user needing to figure out how to work out the bugs. I also just noticed that on the exact date we synced to this app, our number of contacts somehow DOUBLED and put us into a much higher price bracket with Mailchimp. Still waiting to hear back from them about that one. Another update: We even had trouble deleting this app! After deciding to scrap this whole mess and just use Shopify Email instead, MailChimp told us that all we needed to do to disconnect MailChimp from the signup form on our site was to delete the ShopSync app. Not true! After a week of ShopSync saying "Talk to MailChimp" and MailChimp saying "Talk to ShopSync", we had to hire a developer to come clean up the mess left behind by this app and MailChimp in order to get our signup forms working again. Total pain in the ass.

One MAJOR issue: If one of your subscribed contacts makes a purchase and does not click the box to opt in for email marketing (and why would they, they're already subscribed?) then they get UNSUBSCRIBED from your list. Not acceptable. This is the only app I can find to sync/track revenue generation from my emails so I'd really like to use it, I'd even pay for it. OneSass makes an app that syncs my contacts without the whole unsubscribe fiasco, but they don't sync revenue data. ShopSync - PLEASE PLEASE fix this and you'll have my business. Tell me if/when you do!

Developer reply ·

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review and it sounds like on sync there was a merging of data from Shopify to Mailchimp that unsubscribed those customers. Before any data is processed by ShopSync, we perform integrity checks with Mailchimp to ensure these customers can be sent to the audience that is connected. For example, if someone has opted out of an audience in the past, we won't add the email again. We'll also update Shopify with the correct status that Mailchimp shows. That way, the most current subscriber status in Mailchimp is synced with the store. We're happy to do an audit with you on any customer that you'd like. Beware! If you are using this app to connect Mailchimp to Shopify, you might be losing purchasing customers. If a customer unchecks, or doesn't check, the opt-in box for marketing, ShopSync unsubscribes them from your list. I'm migrating to another email provider with complete integration in Shopify and they don't do this. ShopSync insists that it's Shopify's requirement instead of fixing it. They propose that you prevent this from happening by pre-selecting the checkbox for people to opt-in and Mailchimp's suggestion is to have wording at the checkbox that says something like "check here to keep receiving emails from so and so". At the end of the day, not opting in to a list is NOT the same as opting out and shouldn't be handled as an unsubscribe. Shopsync and Mailchimp have to get this fixed. Until then, I highly suggest you find someone else.

Developer reply ·

Hi there, we saw your review and wanted to write back. If return customers who were previously subscribed do not tick the box at checkout, we pass them over to Mailchimp as transactional. We understand in some situations that this doesn't work for everyone, but since we are not seeing them subscribed in Shopify at the time of the (latest) transaction, the best compromise we can muster is to pass that customer as transactional to Mailchimp. That way, you can still use Mailchimp's automations to trigger abandoned carts and order notifications.

Not happy - the sync is just not working (waited for several hours and nothing was updated). I don't want to force a manual sync all the time just to get some data over into MailChimp. ShopSync has several articles and they outline that the sync can take up to 24 hours - based on whatever else is going on - but for testing and also in production if you have to wait for 24 hours before something shows up at the other end - and especially the manual/forced sync can take up to days or even weeks (according to some of the blogs) - that's not an application I would want to deal with. I am currently testing ActiveCampaign for my EMail-Markting needs & integration with Shopify and that one looks a lot more promising to me .... just my 2 cents ...

Developer reply ·

Hi there, thanks for commenting. Syncing times depend on the number of customers, orders, and products in your store. It also depends on the volume impacting our infrastructure. If you have a large amount of data in your store, allocate plenty of time to allow for everything to complete. We will reflect on the progress of your sync on the app detail page. Please note, automations will not trigger during the sync process. If you think the sync is stuck, hang tight, it's probably queueing up background processes that will eventually start pushing data. But, if you don't see movement to the progress bars after 24 hours feel free to reach out to us at support@shopsync.io. Lastly, you don't need to keep your browser open during the sync process, everything works automatically in the background. Let us know if you have any follow up questions, happy to help anytime.

Does not work with Product Reco block of mailchimp. Only shows 1 product at a time. so if you choose to show 3/4 products, it's all the same one! Also, even with show New Arrivals option it shows dated product information! My item was on sale but it showed original price only. what a waste.

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review and it sounds like your issue may be related to a browser caching issue, replicated campaign, or just a temporary problem with Mailchimp. We'd suggest clearing your cookies/cache and trying a fresh campaign if it was replicated in Mailchimp. We've tested the issue you brought up, and we have not seen any problems with product recommendations rendering properly. If the problem persists, don't hesitate to contact us for further troubleshooting at support@shopsync.io.

I left it for a week and it never actually synced my customers (of which there were only 10). I got an email from ShopSync asking me to review, so I responded and explained the issue, but I didn't get a response. So yeah, totally broken with no support. Definitely don't bother.

We'd suggest clearing your cookies/cache or trying another browser entirely. At the moment, we see your store connected and sending data, with transactions pushing over to Mailchimp as recent as in the last hour. I tried to install it, I read the reviews, did everything I could to make this app work. But in the end, it just keeps telling me to click on the button and refresh or install it again from the app. Still doesn't work. Spent so much time on this. this is a very inconvenient app.

I can't rate the App yet because despite following every instruction (i was previously linking straight from Shopify-Mailchimp), and despit ShopSync saying everything is linked, and despite Mailchimp saying 'everything is working okay', I still cant get the mailchimp subscribe pop up box campaign to appear on my site. I don't mind teething issues installing Apps, but the service response time is really poor, as is the quality of the replies. I would have expected to be able to chat in real time, but only email with 2-3 day lag is possible. I was expecting - given you have to pay for their service option, that someone would have volunteered to jump in to my Shopify stiore, to review code, and fix for me. As is, service has been really really poor. I'm giving them another 48 hours to resolve otherwise I'll find another solution. I'll provide an update here if/when I get one.

Update 1/24/20: We have replied back to your last message noting the steps we have taken to troubleshoot. Turns out, it appears that there is a conflict with the script that loads your pop-up forms versus other scripts loading on the site. Troubleshooting script conflicts is not something that we do here at Shopsync, but it should be relatively easy to resolve with the assistance of a web developer. Once that is resolved, pop-ups will work as expected. --- Hello, we've replied to your questions the same day with instructions on how to troubleshoot your pop-up forms. Perhaps our replies are landing in your spam filter? Also, we see you are located in Australia, so there may be some lag in communications. We do not offer 24-hour support at this time but rest assured we have replied to each of your questions. Please double-check your inbox/spam folder when you get a moment; getting your pop-ups to show is a common problem that can usually be addressed by unpublishing your existing pop-ups in Mailchimp and then republishing. Also, be sure to follow their migration guide to ensure everything else works correctly: https://mailchimp.com/help/switch-shopify-shopsync/#Migrate_Your_E-commerce_Automations. Let us know if you are unable to resolve your issue, we'll be happy to assist.

I had to uninstall this app because the code was affecting my theme, After months of some customers not being able to view my site correctly on mobile and contacting everyone under the sun for help, I finally uninstalled each app one by one on my website, getting my customers to test the site each time. all problems cleared up once shopSync was uninstalled and my site has been fine ever since. It's a shame since I really liked ShopSync and can't afford something like klavio

Developer reply ·

Hi Pea Shoots, we saw your review and wanted to reach out. We checked into our helpdesk and only saw one ticket back in August we replied to the same day regarding another question. Were you contacting Mailchimp for help? Or ShopSync? We want to make sure something didn't get caught up in our SPAM filter. Regardless, we looked at your store, and it appears that the legacy Mailchimp app and ShopSync are still installed. The old Mailchimp integration has been deprecated (not supported) for quite some time, and there's a good chance things won't work as expected if you have both ShopSync and the legacy Mailchimp app running. As for ShopSync affecting your theme, that would not be a function of the app. We'd recommend first to uninstall the legacy Mailchimp app and ShopSync. Next, verify in the Mailchimp "Connected Sites" area that your store is removed. Lastly, install ShopSync again. We're confident that things will work as expected after those steps are completed. Let us know if you still encounter any problems. You may reach us anytime at support@shopsync.io.

This app has one major flaw - it unsubscribes your most engaged followers when they purchase from your store, unless they re-tick your receive emails button. They are aware of this and don't see it as a big issue, however it requires a lot of admin to manually undo it.

Developer reply ·

Thanks for getting in touch about the association between pop-up form subscribers and customers who are being unsubscribed at checkout later - there are a few things in play here. Let me take the opportunity to explain the issue in its entirety. As things are designed currently, the pop-up form is triggered by Mailchimp, and the opt-in feature at checkout of your Shopify store function independently from one another. The pop-up form is triggered by Mailchimp and associates it with a particular Audience. Meanwhile, your Shopify store connects customers at checkout with the same MailChimp Audience. Unfortunately, in some situations, it can create a subscriber status that is out of alignment. For example, if someone opts-in to a pop-up form initially, but later they do not opt-in at checkout, it would indeed unsubscribe them from Mailchimp. We understand how this situation may not be ideal in all cases, but, we're following the directives of the customer at checkout. Since we are not seeing them subscribed in Shopify at the time of the transaction, we really have no other choice but to pass that user as unsubscribed to Mailchimp. I'm sorry we don't have a perfect answer for this particular scenario, but please understand it's not the app entirely at fault here. Perhaps, a workaround for these edge-cases would be to put some text on the checkout page to encourage users to opt-in for certain communications? Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have additional or follow-up questions.

Shop Sync is UNSUBSCRIBING customers! Some of my best customers are PISSED that they did not receive our most recent promotional email... the reason? They were already subscribed to our list but when they purchased and neglected to check the box to subscribe (and why would they, they are already on my list and already happy to be there) and Shopsync is automatically relegating them to "transactional only" emails. Thanks a lot, Shopsync, now I have to explain to some of my best customers why they missed out on the email announcing our latest limited edition designs that sold out before they saw the social media posts. Uninstalling your app and making profuse apologies to my customers!

Hi there, I'm sorry if you had trouble getting in touch with our support team in your preferred time frame. We looked up your tickets for frippoutdoors.com and itsa-girl-thing.com, and it looks like we responded to your initial questions in less than 5 hours. As a free service, our best response times can range anywhere from 24 to 72 hours depending on volumes. Also, we saw your review while we were actively troubleshooting the connection with Mailchimp. As noted in our response back, the frippoutdoors.com store had something under the hood that wasn't configured correctly in Mailchimp. We were able to work with their team and get things resolved for you. itsa-girl-thing.com shows that it is also installed correctly and processing data. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach back out to our support team.

None of my automations are running and they were no help. They told me to contact Mailchimp but if your app is meant to be the middleman between Shopify and Mailchimp you should be able to do better than that. I am definitely not the only one.

Developer reply ·

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. Our app does not automatically attach to existing Mailchimp automations; we don't advertise that feature. Technically there isn't an option available for us to do so via Mailchimp platform or API. We would love to do an automatic migration if it were somehow feasible. With that said, before installing ShopSync, we recommend that folks run the migration tool that Mailchimp has put out in their Knowledge Base. It's your best option to get things re-attached and running again: https://mailchimp.com/help/switch-shopify-shopsync/ If for any reason you did complete the migration, and the automations still aren't firing, you'll definitely want to reach out to Mailchimp to see if there's something under the hood that they can update. We're sorry for any hassle, but again we don't have any control over re-attaching Mailchimp automations.

Hi there, we saw your review and wanted to confirm you had seen the support response that we sent back. We had only received your question a short time ago and responded as fast as we could. We are under hefty volumes with installs (and questions) so please allow some time for us to respond to inquiries. As noted in the support ticket back to you, this error is a permissions issue, and it will be necessary to reach out to the owner of the Shopify account so they can grant you access to view and use the ShopSync application. I use this app to send out welcome letters to my subscribers and it’s never sync. Out of about 50 subscribers only 4 emails went out. To me it’s no point in having the app

Developer reply ·

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review and it sounds like you may have some confusion around with what our app does vs. Mailchimp's core features. ShopSync is a tool that sends customer information from your Shopify store to Mailchimp (and vice versa). The app transfers and syncs customer, order and product information between the two platforms. You will still use Mailchimp for all your campaigns, automations, pop-ups and ads. To be clear, we don't send any kind of campaigns or automations through ShopSync; we're just the mechanism that gets information to Mailchimp from your store. Let us know if you have any follow up questions. Feel free to reach back out to us at support@shopsync.io.

This app does not sync automations or cart recovery campaigns. Also if you had a mulit-email cart workflow setup it will not transfer over and you will be prompted to upgrade your account to send more than 1 cart recovery email. The price is $14.99 a month. This whole thing where mailchimp no longer syncs to shopify was just a con set up to switch the free accounts over to paid accounts. You will still get some features with a free account but the most valuable aspects of the old free account will no longer work unless you pay up. Please be aware of this BEFORE you use this 3rd party app. Just another business squeezing small business owners for another dime.

Developer reply ·

Hi there, thank you for the feedback. We saw your review, and it sounds like there may be some confusion about what our app does. ShopSync is only designed to be a connector between Shopify and Mailchimp. Our app is engineered to sync all orders, customers (who accept marketing), products, and revenue data. All automations and pop-up configuration is still handled in your Mailchimp dashboard business as usual; we only send data to your audience. Also, you mention a cost of $14.99 for our app. That's not accurate. Our app is free, and we have no paid plans at this time. We may have an (optional) plan in the future for paid support options, but there is nothing in place at this time. If you would like to learn more about ShopSync, please visit our website or reach out to our support team anytime. You can visit us at shopsync.io and support@shopsync.io respectively.

There's only one day left before the MailChimp/Shopify integration ends and there's a huge notice when installing this app: "Important! Please archive any Mailchimp welcome e-mail automation before installing ShopSync If you have welcome e-mail automations running in Mailchimp, please archive (not pause) before installing ShopSync. There have been reports that emails have been resent after performing sync, and we are actively investigating the issue. Other automations are not impacted and can be migrated as noted in Mailchimp's knowledge base article." Seriously, who is stupid enough to move forward after reading this? And reading how ShopSync is replying to other people, seems like a huge loophole where ShopSync & MailChimp will not take ownership of any issues, truly try to help their users, but instead play the "blame game" and refer to the other party over and over. Removing this app right away...

Developer reply ·

Hi there, Eidon thank you for your candid feedback. We've confirmed the welcome email behavior is a bug on the Mailchimp side, and their support team is investigating. It's got something to do with timestamps misbehaving internally. To be clear, this is not something that ShopSync is doing but we felt the urgency to make it transparent so our users don't have any surprises. For now, if you have welcome automations running, we recommend that you archive them before activating our app. You can easily reactivate or recreate them after the sync is done and restart. ‌ All that to say, we hope that things will be resolved soon, but we don't have any visibility into their workloads. Other automations are ok to leave as described in the migration guide Mailchimp has published. ‌ Let us know if you have any follow up questions. Feel free to reach back out to us at support@shopsync.io.

This is by far the worst App I have ever had it doesn't do what it says does, entering valid email addresses that are not spam or bot it chooses what it wants to send to mailchimp. So you end up missing out on sign ups if you don't closely check your list. Shopsync solution was to do a re sync that doesn't work either. Even worse now the original Sync has completely messed up my customer date order sequence in my admin section and shopsync are avoiding fixing this. Now when I select the order newest customers I get random mixture of old and new what a balls up. Now I am trying to get them to fix this they avoiding the issue. Apps like this should be banned. This whole experience has also put me off Mailchimp the whole thing has been nothing but a drama and complete waste of time.

It will not allow me to give zero stars but that is what this is worth at the moment After installing this app we have faced many issues: 1. Order not syncing as they should 2. Customers automatically being marked as "Accept Marketing" when the box is not checked in Shopify 3. A huge disconnection between Mailchimp & ShopSync. I got both on email, each pointed blame at the other. I would not recommend installing this app as it currently does not work as expected. I have been trying to get our problems resolved but unfortunately after 4/12 Mailchimp nor ShopSync will respond. Worst customer service I have seen. Posting here I am sure there will be a response!
