Once you subscribe, you'll get charged forever. They don't provide customer service contact number or email. They charge 6 months more after I uninstalled the service. Worst customer service. I had to contact the card company to stop charging it.
We were long-time users of Privy, but our experience has been deeply disappointing and financially damaging. In 2019, Privy's own support team confirmed in writing that a duplicate account tied to our Shopify store had been identified and closed. We were assured that no further charges would be incurred. Despite this, Privy continued charging us for nearly six years on a second account that was inaccessible and had no associated email address. Unfortunately we only discovered this in 2025. After presenting full documentation, including screenshots of their original cancelled confirmation, Privy refunded just six months' worth of charges out of a total of 70+ months—refusing to refund the rest and claiming they could no longer locate the original correspondence due to “internal system changes.” This is unacceptable from a company that provides email and CRM services. Failing to honour a written cancellation, charging for a service that could not be accessed, and then denying responsibility years later reflects a troubling disregard for transparency, accountability, and customer trust. Merchants should be extremely cautious. If something goes wrong, you may find yourself with little recourse, even if you have clear evidence and written promises from their own team.
It will charge you for "usage fees" and it won't be very easy to figure out what they are. We used a very basic setup and forgot about it only to realize we were being charged $45+ USD a month for literally an email signup. If you're just getting started, use the free shopify email app and save yourself the headaches.
My bill was charged twice!!!! It's $2280!!! I never receive any response, when I contact them for help.
la app no se instaló correctamente y aun así importó todos los contactos.
Unfortunately, we are experiencing issues with the pop-up during Black Friday, and the first-line support team doesn’t seem willing to fully understand the problem or take the time to resolve it. It’s been over 48 hours, and all we’ve heard so far is: “Yes, the pop-up appears.” We are already aware that the pop-up appears, but what we need is an analysis of *why* it is showing up more than 1,000 times with a 0% subscription rate. Additionally, we are receiving emails from customers reporting errors after signing in. Could someone from the complaints department please review this ticket?

I'm Alex, the CEO of Privy. So sorry to hear about the trouble. Our Head of Customer Experience is reaching out right now. We'll get any issues sorted.
I had high hopes for this $40 app, but it was a complete disappointment. First, their live chat button didn’t work when I needed help. When I finally got a response from Alex, they suggested hopping on a call—but I’ve done that before, and it was just a sales pitch to get me to upgrade. I asked if this call would actually help solve my issue, but Alex never replied. The app ended up conflicting with my theme’s coding and ruined a launch—items weren’t showing up in the designated collections! I uninstalled it after just 4 days because it was unusable. I requested a refund, but no one has responded. $40 down the drain for an app I couldn’t even use. Terrible experience.

Terrible terms and conditions and too expensive. I subscribed for a $105 plan, it was working fine but I found similar apps are much and works the same. So I decided to unsubscribe it before they charge me for the next cycle, and they terminate everything instantly. While I had so many other subscriptions, usually they would still let you to use till the next cycle. This is the first time they terminate it instantly. I still have more than two weeks left , talked to CS, no help. They said it's in their condition, wasted my money.

I used this app for long years for my business until about a month ago. Had huge problem on my last products launch. On the launch day, emails weren't being sent to my customers. I reached out to them and I only heard back a day later with no solution. It cause me great loss. I left after years super unsatisfied having the loss. I don't recommend.

SCAM ALERT Check your billing statements. I've used this app for years without issue. A few months ago, I had an issue where all of a sudden my photos in my pop-ups had disappeared. I reached out and they told me I deleted them (I didn't and they were the same photos I had used for about 2 years.) They couldn't figure out why it was freezing and not allowing me to add another photo where the original went missing. I accepted a "collaborator request" so they could fix it, and they did. What I didn't realize was that since then, both of my websites have TWO recurring charges EACH for this app: $15 and $15 on one website, and $45 and $15 on another. I've been spending $90 on this app that is supposed to cost $15 for the basic plan. I don't know how I didn't notice sooner, so that's on me, but I'm surprised Shopify is allowing them to continue to scam people by adding the app multiple times. I've used this app for around 4 years across multiple other accounts without issue, including these two websites. All this began only a few months ago. If you've added them as a "collaborator request" to fix something, run and check your billing statements. I have 10+ years of Shopify use under my belt and have built around 12 websites. I did NOT download this app multiple times and agree to be billed multiple times a month. I have only ever used the basic version of this for a simple email pop-up: no marketing emails, nothing else they offer. SCAM

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We're here to help! Our teams looked into this and see that we were able to assist you with the image issue. I can assure you that these support interactions did not lead to additional charges or newly created accounts. To clarify, the Privy Starter plan is billed based on your mailable contacts. As your contact list grows, your pricing is subject to scale overtime. Within Shopify, you will see your monthly Privy bill broken into two charges as you noted (base + usage), this would be the case for each Privy account that you have. We appreciate your feedback here as our team is working on improving how we communicate this to customers moving forward. I’ve personally reached out to you so we can work towards a better experience for your store, and I am happy to continue the conversation with you there.
Really bad - it keeps getting in the way when I am trying to customize my Shopify site. Can you turn it off while I am editing and working on the back end of my website?
Not good. You ask for help from support and they talk to you like you are a computer genius. NOT EVERYONE IS. A quick 5 minute call probably could have solved all our issues but NO ONE wants to pick up the phone and help the customer
Very poor marketing app! There is no technical support whatsoever over the weekends. I created an email for a one hour sale and the mails have not been sent out and I cannot cancel the emails either. I cannot afford this to be sent out after the sale is over. This is the second time this is happening in 2023. The email templates are ugly and needs a lot of work.
Terribly slow response time. If you are serious about getting business done and you need support, do not use Privy!
doubled their plan prices in one year, and the app doesn't really make the difference
I am not sure if all these positive reviews are fake or what. I made a pop-up that is supposed to display immediately and it doesn't work correctly. I tried contacting their live chat during their business hours for the last 2 days with no response. I also emailed their support email with no response. If this is the type of customer service you can expect from Privy then I will be deleting their app.
They Don't really help you set up things. they give you a crash course for 30 min and after that you are on your own. they don't have a direct customer service number where they can help you set up campaigns step by step. They could add that and it would be very worth it.
DON'T USE PRIVY! They are very expensive. The price start from $15, once you have more subscriber, they will charge you more. I paid $90 per month for being forced to choose a better plan plus paying for sending email to more subscriber. I was asking partial refund since I couldn't used the service during their website maintenance, the customer service was denying all these service was working while I had a copy of screenshot that it wasn't working. Then they just blamed my computer had issue, no matter what, they just refused to give a partial refund. Save your money, shopify email is enough for your need.
Privy wasted a month of our time! We initially used Privy because their sister company, Attentive, told us we were too small to use their platform. They recommended we use Privy instead. We signed up with Privy but after a month of using their platform they informed us we couldn't use their SMS feature because of the industry we're in. SMS newsletters was the reason we even switched to Privy. You would think they would screen new clients and let them know if there were any issues, but no we wasted a month of getting all of our contacts migrated over, setting up automations, etc. A month of work down the drain, but Privy got their fee. Thanks A LOT Privy (and Attentive). Now we're back to square one. Avoid this company
I will be cancelling my account due to doubling the price. There are other apps that provide the same type of product which are more reasonable. The app works reasonably well, but giving it a one star for the insane price increase and the inconvenience of needing to find a new app and install.
I've been using Privy for almost a year and I am so frustrated by the app and their customer service. When I went to cancel I lost access to my account immediately even though I paid for the month. They said this information is clearly stated in their help articles when really it should be stated when you go to cancel your account And the right thing to do would be to prorate a refund depending on when the customer cancels... In terms of the capability of the app its 100% not worth the price. There are so many bugs and the capabilities are lacking. For $200/month I'd rather pay for Klaviyo to have access to better features and better customer service. Honestly, I would never use Privy again nor would I recommend other businesses use it.
They sent an email out saying there would be a SMALL price increase, but did not state the amount. They said you would see the increase on your next bill, of which it was doubled.
I initially reviewed Privy and warded 2 stars, now after more use 1 star is awarded. It just doesn't do the basics right. Try and segment your Privy data and you are told to import from Shopify. The data is already in Privy. This is crazy and dangerous, creating more customer data on spreadsheets should be avoided. On top of this, they've introduced a huge price increase because of all the functionality they have supposedly added. Avoid, find something better.
So far it looks pretty easy to use but only had it for 5 minutes. Will review later. Has capabilities but there is no help/assistance - they promise you all kinds of help and service - don't bother - find another app
I have been a customer for almost a year. Today we got word that the basic plan is doubling from $15 a month to $30. Like many small businesses this is not an easy time. I am basically being asked to pay double for no extra features. So much for any customer loyalty.
The process to add legitimate emails to your email list is too time consuming and unnecessarily complicated. Once they have signed you on, support disappears. They also...send emails offering to help your business, but when you reach out, these emails has always ended up a waste of time for me.
BEWARE! They stole my money for over 12 months. I cancelled our account via my Privy account but because the app was still installed on Shopify they continued to take money out of our account and will not refund even though they can see we cancelled. USE KLAYVIO INSTEAD!!!
Developer reply ·
Hi there, I am happy to clarify here; since our app was not removed from your Shopify store, the charges did continue. It is important to cancel as soon as our app no longer meets your needs. Regarding a refund, the charges in question fall outside our refund policy which can be found here: https://help.privy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360049718694-Billing-Payments-Refunds-FAQ If you have any further questions, you can email billing@privy.com and refer to ticket #195223. – Best
DO NOT USE PRIVY! Absolutely horrible to deal with. Also, in this industry, who who works 9-5 Mon - Friday?? We need assistance on the weekends and after hours. but that aside, I have never dealt with customer service so unprofessional. Use anyone else. We used Privy for about 5 years gathering up over 4,000 verified contacts and then we rebranded our company. EXACT same products, EXACT same containers but a different look and our customers were ALL AWARE of the change but everything was still the same, we just didn't like the old name or the old owner (long story). When we imported the contacts into our new account, Privy wouldn't let us email them. I explained everything to them and that we had actually used PRIVY to acquire these contacts legitimately. They didn't care. They said "Too bad." All those years working to build an email list all for nothing. DO NOT USE PRIVY.
Developer reply ·
Hi there, We have reviewed the email where you spoke to our Billing and Compliance teams; I apologize if anything was not clear and I am happy to break down below what occurred: • Due to the origin of the list in question, our Compliance team was not able to approve these contacts. • Privy, or any email marketing provider, can only accept the contacts who opted in to receive the emails for one business. Merchants are not able to have merchant's who opted in for one business be moved over to another business. • This aligns with the laws and regulations, CAN-SPAM and CASL, put into place to protect the recipients. • General Support availability varies by channel; we do offer support during the weekends. As mentioned by our Compliance manager, the weekend team will do its best to answer all of your questions on the weekends, however, some emails may require follow ups when we are more staffed during the week. • Lastly, our teams replied to all email communications with the upmost respect and empathy for the situation at hand. Should you have any further questions, you can email support directly (support@privy.com) or reply here to this review. Should you email in, please refer to ticket number 190325. Our Billing team has asked Shopify to remove the $45 fee you were charged as well. We wish your businesses the best of luck!
I tried again because of all of the great reviews. I sent a newsletter to about 200 contacts. I tested the mail send to myself clicked all the links NO PROBLEM! Then when I send the mail I get a bunch of responses saying the links take them to a broken web site because the email is marked as a spam sender. I messaged Privy and they said they recommend changing the auto sender address which I didn't see anywhere as an option to my personal email instead of theres. I look like an idiot in front of 200 people now. The solution is next time change the sender. TELL ME THAT BEFORE. Why oh why does this service suck so bad :( This app worked well for a few months. When my free trial ended (wasn't aware it was a trial or it would end) I wasn't notified. This app is about notifying people and THEY DIDN'T NOTIFY ME! I had over 1500 visitors to my website in one week and checked to see why I wasn't getting their emails and this poor company didn't send me a pop up email or sms to tell me I need to now pay for the service, which I would have done. Crazy right. There are other services out there don't make the same mistake I did. After telling them this happened they said nothing we can do would you like to pay for the upgrade. Not great customer service.
Beware: Like all other reviews I got caught in Privy's scam, they initially quote you $45 a month and then months later they start charging you $120 more a month, which they tell you that since I have gotten more emails I am charged because of it, I used it for one pop up and one abandoned cart email campaign, which neither helped to gather more emails. This app left a bad taste in my mouth on how these apps can change their amount of payment without letting you know. $165 a month for an app is not worth it, especially Privy is not worth it. Alas, I do see there is a pattern of this behavior in the reviews.

Hi there, Our billing team has checked and see that the increase in price came from the 3 imports of contacts made to your account. As your number of mailable contacts increases, so does the price. You can also see our pricing here: privy.com/pricing. If any further help is needed, please email billing@privy.com and please reference ticket number #178712.
Beware! I'm charged twice for this app - emailed shopify who notified them so they could get in touch but never heard a think. Received my latest invoice and again charged twice!! I have removed the app which I also believe to be detrimental to SEO since they are the largest impact on slowing down a website and tabs that get in the way of navigation
We used this app for years, they monetized their old customers raising the prices considerably 2-3 years ago when they got a new CEO. Service haven't improved much, just a monetization technique. The app is not worth the price at all and haven been slowing down our page for all these years paying a great sum. Also they make it very difficult to remove the app and all scripts in the shopify store, there is no information readily available how to uninstall their scripts.
Outrageous fees. They will bind you into a contract for months and force you to pay a termination fee if you decide to switch.
Developer reply ·
Hi there, Our billing team has checked with your customer success manager - we see you signed a contract for 12 months. After March of 2023, the paid plan will be moved to monthly and can then be cancelled. This will not cancel when changing to monthly, so please contact us at that time to help. Please note, we do offer month to month plans and will never force a merchant into a contract. If you still need assistance, please email billing@privy.com.
Read this, Privy decided to download additional customer contacts in March 2022 which caused our pricing to triple. If this also happened to you reach out to support for them to correct your lists. This was a very bad decision privy made.
I'm just going to keep this short and sweet. Test everything before you commit to a subscription. Their email capabilities may cause more problems than actual benefits, in which may even negatively impact your business. Sales team is too pushy and doesn't seem to care about your needs or concerns. All they care about is upgrading you to their latest plans and keep calling me non stop. Bad experience overall period.
Terrible experience so far let's hope it gets better. Have been charged for a month when we specifically said we weren't ready to use it until a certain date. then have asked questions and haven't even had the decency to reply yet. My hope is that it's just that one individual who is a bad egg and not the entire team.
Beware - you will get ripped off! Signed up for a $15 per month plan because I only needed popups. Several months later, I see a $60 charge on my account. I contacted support to ask them about this, and they said they had sent an email out (which I never received) which said that their pricing tiers were changing based on the amount of customer emails. Very underhanded and shady if you ask me, and I'm sure this happened to a lot of people. I've canceled my account and will never deal with them again.
I started with the free version of this app a very long time ago for just a pop-up. Works great, but OMG the pricing is now a disaster. I am hounded constantly to add their email marketing and now with only 2 weeks notice a 3.5 times monthly price increase ($20 to $70). It is just nuts. I was also told the $20/month price was "locked in" forever. I use MailChimp and they include a free pop-up so going to drop Privy after many years. I really suggest staying away from Privy as everything seemed to change for the worse after they were acquired by a new company.
Canceled Privy 6 months ago. But it continues to withdraw money from the bank, also it’s double amount, 60USD! The support tell different stories everyday. The app already debited money from the bank account 12 times. Promised refund, but it’s not! Close that scammers immediately!
UPDATE After using the app for a few years, an issue occurred which required help from the support team. The agent deleted our account by mistake. Although the account was reinstated and the error was acknowledged, Privy is requiring that we pay the updated rates, which are now six times higher. This is unethical. They should honour our previous rate since this was their mistake. I even took the time send screenshots of my exchanges with the support agent and they are offering a 50% discount for one month. Years worth of designs and templates are locked in our account unless we agree to pay more. We have to start from scratch. Disgraceful. We chose Privy because the configuration settings are very flexible. We have to operate in 2 languages and we are able to make our notifications bi-lingual. The app was easy to install and we love that there are multiple options to chose from, depending on what you are trying to accomplish (grow email list, maximize conversion rate..). Thank you Privy!
They cancelled my account because they dont allow services for "Pharmaceutical Sales", except our product is not Pharmaceutical, its a gym supplement which contains only natural, legal ingredients.
The app is very basic and is missing very basic audience segment options that all other apps like Mailchimp or Klavio have. It is very disappointing. The email flows are also very basic and not on the level of Klavio and Mailchimp. They will also not allow you to clean up your email list. If you delete some of your email, they will cancel your subscription. I had a lot of new emails from a giveaway, I sent an email to the giveaway email list and they didn't perform well so I deleted that list as it was hurting my opening rate and I didn't want to email that list any more. Privy accused me of deleting the emails to reduce my monthly price. I explained to them the situation and they still said that if I delete another email they will cancel my subscription which is ridiculous because I decide who I want on my email list and it is my right to clean up my email list for better performance especially when their app is missing a lot of crucial audience segmentation options
Absolute crazy been using the app since Feb 2021 and sending over 20k emails per day , 3 days ago they FORCED me to sign a 3 month contract , the very next day my account is blocked because it has not conformed to regulations .YOU BUILT MY DATABASE FROM SUBSCRIBERS !!!! HOW CAN I NOW BE AT FAULT , THIS IS JUST AS GOOD AS STEALING MY MONEY I WILL ISSUE A STOP PAY AT PAYPAL !!!
You'll get someone blowing up your phone, email, facebook, instagram, etc as soon as you sign up. It was really annoying and that reason alone made me delete it.
Recently Privy isn't working properly. Emails have been bouncing back tremendously and we reported this, and took them more than 3-4 days to fix the issue. Now the newsletter section does not even load. It also shows that our previous templates are GONE. I pay $200 monthly and they did refund the amount, but this is getting annoying especially during these busy times of the year. We will be looking into other service provider and abandon privy with no regret asap. Stay away.
Frustrating to work with and expensive. I wouldn;t recommend this app anymore. It used to be a lot easier to use.
It has been almost a month where people who unsubscribe are unable to and since has caused spam reports. Now they froze my account for a problem they can't fix. An email app that you can't unsubscribe from - this is infuriating. Please fix this - it is the busiest time of year and your app is not working.
I would rather give them 0 stars if I could. Their support team is not helping at all! It won't allow me to cancel the plan unless contact them, and I did, they do not even reply my email for 2 days!!!! Please do not use them. Worst experience ever!!!!
doesn't let you edit anything until you're forcibly upgraded. i can't cancel unless i upgrade or contact support which causes more of a delay.
If you download this app the customer service will absolutely spam you with dozens of the meaningless emails and phone calls. If that's not bad enough, they send their emails from multiple domains so you cannot just block or unsubscribe. I have asked them politely each time to stop contacting me and they ignore each request and attempt to contact me from another address and call me. I downloaded this app for not even 15 minutes before figuring out it's not what I need, deleting it, and they are still spamming me. DO NOT give your information to this app.
After using this app for a couple of months, I am far less impressed than when I started. I keep getting restricted from newsletters based on unsubscribe rates- yet, when I look at my unsubscribe rates they are zero. As a result, when I go to send newsletters, they won't go through and allow me to meet deadlines. I have to use another third party app. I find it all highly aggravating.
The apps email integrations have leak emails - it keeps sending an email out from months ago, but only to a few people at a time. Customer service was unresponsive when we reached out for help. In addition, the pop-up timers are off and not holding saved changes.

Hey there - thank you for sharing this feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience and we're committed to turning this experience around for you. Our team has reached out to offer 1:1 support to help you resolve these issues and get back to growing your sales with Privy.
I am changing my review of this app. I thought it will be easy to migrate my contacts so I can start sending newsletter emails. But after 5 days, mailable contacts are still not done. The company does not have chat to speak with customer service reps and the replies are quite slow. Its being quite disappointing. I will be uninstalling the app and look for other company that will be easier to work with.
Used the free branded version for a year. Then suddenly they ended the free version without notifying me. As a small business owner I have a lot on my plate every day and checking whether or not my pop-up is working as it was set up should not be one of them. Do not recommend. If you want my money, you have to act like you deserve it, Privy.
Privy just prompted me to write a review after cornering me into paying more than double the cost of my original plan. I purchased and set up privy over a year ago to install pop ups and manage my email list and a few days ago they just shut all of my pop ups and embedded forms off because it's "no longer included in my plan". Since I paid a coder to integrate privy's platform for me, and I'm not in the position to pay yet another professional to set up yet another marketing app, I'm going to go ahead and pay double for the exact same features because I really have no choice. Functionality is pretty good, but I've got a bad taste in my mouth from being mislead on pricing.
I find this app hard to use. I also notice that my emails go straight to junk mail or never get sent. I don’t think it’s worth it.

Increased their price from $10 a month to $13 a month and now to $30 a month. For a small business it's a hard hit. Very disappointed and it's a great time to switch to Klaviyo.

Thank you for sharing this feedback. At Privy, we’re thrilled to have been able to offer our plans as we have all these years. However, over the years, we've evolved our platform and simplified our plans to be an all in one solution for merchants. For $30/month customers can use Privy as their all in one marketing platform to grow sales. With unlimited access to the tools you need to collect emails, improve website conversion, send newsletters, automate your email marketing and more. We understand your frustration and we’re here to help if you’d like to talk with one of our Privy coaches.
The company charged me after I cancelled the service. Customer service was rude and unhelpful. They told me that cancelling the service on Shopify doesn't cancel the subscription and that not utilizing the software was not enough for a refund. I didn't know I independently had to go to the site and cancel the service.
I used this app to have initial sign up by customers and it work great. But when I upgraded so I can use it to send newsletters, I was totally lost. Impossible to work with. I am going back to Seguno.
First problem I encountered is the layout is pretty messed up when the recovery email is sent out. And the support team took long time to respond (comparing with other Shopify apps' responding time). We agreed for $10 compensation. Hope everything will be fine even though they have no idea how long I can expect the problem to be fixed. Second day, we had a few abandoned carts, it turns out it failed to send out the recovering email. Now, I'm still waiting for the support team to respond me. The data they are showing on the app is not very accurate as well...
$75/mo even your monthly traffic went down less than that, still keep charging you $75/mo, we have been over charged about $1000 now, dishonesty company, not recommended. No response, only after I cancel it then reach out to us, enough said. Does not have good exit intent popup.

Thanks for the review! Let us know if we can be of any help at support@privy.com.
I agree with Cjartcanada everything about this popup software is confusing and difficult to get working, if I can't figure this out in another 60 minutes I will be terminating my account with Privy. How did they get away with this, its awful!
Daylight robbery, I signed up to pay $20 USD and on my last statement paid $70 USD. No invoice to indicated where the hell these extra charges came from. Do not use this service, in fact be careful about what's apps in general you use on Shopify, a lot of them are sketchy.
Their free plan includes 5000 views per month, after a few weeks they paused my campaign saying I need to be on a paid plan because of my average users! Also, they keep bombarding you with junk mail, every day I receive some junk mail asking me to upgrade. Not worth it!

Launched a site 1 month ago - not advertised fully - slapped with 35000 impressions. The manager will not accept their system at fault, I know best attitude. Will not agree Google Webmasters data either. Beyond disbelief.
Seems pretty good for now. Will have to see if it benefits my store once I've collected more emails. The email feature appears to be $10, but then they charge more each time you have more page views, which I think is a bit disappointing. Update: Re-activated this to my store, and they were expecting me to pay $250 per month!!..PER MONTH! A small business like mine and this is what they charge. Way too expensive.
Dowloaded it for the free plan because my store is small and does not need much features yet. And there is no free plan in sight.
Beware : We have been using it for two years. It was a great app and one day they reached us for an unpaid invoice. Then cancelled our account, now they asking 350$ monthly fees for the new plan, which was 24$ before. It is a good app if you have 1-2 K page views. Otherwise beware.
AWFUL. BEWARE. If you have a email list that was collected by any other source other than Privy they won't approve it for use. Out of all the email platforms out there this is the only one that does this. We had a list of over 4000+ and they won't let us it even though we have full rights to email our customers. STAY AWAY. To top it off, seeing that we can't use our list we wouldn't be able to use the email platform. We asked for a refund for a service we can't use. They stated and Privy has the right to cancel any account if they feel that any criminal activity is happening. This is the excuse they give us. Appalling.
Imagine getting targetted ads from this company only to have them not let you log in via Shopify. I wish I could use it but this is terrible
It is clunky and never seems to work, emails are never sent, and customer service is lacking. I am going to look for another option.
Privy is stealing the customer and order data and sending it to marketers website. Here is the proof ( note, we DO NOT have a big commerce website): I found some major issues in the console partial page load. https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fbrooklyn-equipment.com%2Fproducts%2Fclorox%25C2%25AE-disinfecting-wipes-6-canisters-of-75-wipes-free-shipping&tab=desktop&hl=en The App Privy has a larger Payload than Facebook and has been throwing all kinds of render blocking issues in the search console. I did some digging and Basically they are stealing every data point and customer information detail, info about your store, orders and who knows what else and sending it out to several APIs. This is bad news and has been slowing down the site for some time. Screen Shot 2020-08-19 at 4.43.21 AM.png Here is their full execution https://shopify.privy.com/widget.js?shop=ppe-marketplace.myshopify.com They are sending sensitive info like this on every user page load or add to cart: https://brooklyn-equipment.com/cart.js?Dyo8o6fYTacbWPfPY=1 Turns out they are sending your data to be remarketed, they could even be sending emails right after people visit, idk. 1. dp1.33across.com 2. loadus.exelator.com & loadm.exelator.com & load77.exelator.com 3. cm.g.doubleclick.net 4. ps.eyeota.net 5. secure.adnxs.com 6. l.sharethis.com Here are screen shots images showing the API connection tracking: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/uih401fn8vlbukh/AABLSQGU4II3aJ64MW8q9W3ja?dl=0 DO NOT USE THIS APP ------- After the developer answer we did more research and we found 3rd party confirmations that we are not imagining things. Hi - yikes. Hate to see an experience like this. We took a look at the files you shared with our developers, just to triple check. Just to be 100% clear, Privy does not steal customer or order data, or use that for any purpose other than providing the functionality of our service, directed by you the merchant while building campaigns using Privy's marketing software. The bigcommerce code you shared only runs on bigcommerce stores. It's only purpose is to support certain features within Privy like targeting and abandoned carts. No data is shared to bigcommerce. Also, we don't load or redirect to any of the links you posted. The only service we incorporate of the ones you listed is share this. sharethis simply powers the sharing tools you can add to your privy popup and landing pages, that help your visitors easily share your store's website to their networks. And the screenshots you share in the link don't really articulate your concern. We take privacy seriously. We'd be happy to take a deeper look if you reach out directly through live chat support or by emailing support@privy.com directly. We'd love to help drive confidence and point you in the right direction on this.
Way too difficult to use. App takes you out of the Shopify interface and forces you to use their UI. Poorly designed and convoluted.
This app will slow down your website, even after removing it, it leaves behind so much code, worst app support ever
I used this app for almost two years, so I definitely gave it my best shot. Unfortunately this app gave me nothing but a headache for the past two years. The customer service wasn’t helpful at all, now when I have finally unsubscribed from this app, now customer service wants to talk to me.... absolutely ridiculous. Side note: the customization is terrible and the abandoned carts don’t work. Tried getting help with that for a year. Save your money and a headache. Wish I did.
If your store is new, skip this app! They will inform you after terminating your campaign due to low traffic.
Je m'attendais a mieux. J'essaye encore de comprendre certaine chose. Exemple mail client envoyer a 8h toujours aucun mail livré. ATTENTION! J'ai supprimé l'application depuis plusieurs mois. Mais je m'apperçois que privy me débit 10€ par mois. Pour une application que je n'utilise pas et une option que je n'ai jamais utiliser (panier abandonné).

I've been using Privy to capture customer emails for 12 months. About a month ago, Privy simply turned off the function to collect my customer data and gave me no warning either prior or even afterwards that it had done so. I investigated the 'lost data' myself (because I noticed a sudden drop in sign-ups) and was given the run around by Privy for 2 weeks before they finally admitted pausing my Privy campaign because I've now hit some sort of milestone not included in my current plan. No warning was given to me prior (to allow me the opportunity to upgrade and continue the campaign) and they didn't even tell me afterwards - instead they made other excuses for 2 weeks before finally admitting the truth. I've lost valuable customer data as a result. Privy is simply not worth the risk to your business.
worst service !!!! over price app !!!! I used this app for pop up campaings that did well but the service is worst I am not getting any help from privy team.
Hi Guys, if you are looking for a serious emailing app to work with, this is not what you are looking for. Customer service cant answer emails in 2 days, keep getting auto-replies and copy-paste answers over a week. It is like your are talking to an automated answering system. Probably you are! Dont make 18K positive reviews fool you, probably they are fake. I hope i can get my money back :(
mal !! se cae la pagina todo el tiempo, no me deja enviar ningún tipo de campañas, pago el plan y me dice que no lo he actualizado, hasta el momento mala experiencia
It has hidden costs, which I find unacceptable as lack of transparency and it does not seem to load the necessary data from shopify
Privy forces people to leave 5-star reviews and badgers them until they do. So here you go - I am leaving a 1-star review to counter all the fake 5-star reviews.
TL;DR -- this app is awful compared to JustUno or OptiMonk. But much worse, they are incredibly unethical in their business practices. I would hope that Shopify would police this sort of BLATANT unethical activity on apps in their store... BEWARE! I started a trial of this software ~18 months ago. I deleted the app before the trial was over. I have come to find out that, depsite deleting the app AND submitting a ticket to their support, they CONTINUE to charge me $79/month every month. As support will do nothing, unfortunately I have to go the route of a credit-card chargeback. Very unethical, Privy... BEWARE -- THIS APP IS BILLED OUTSIDE OF THE APP STORE ECOSYSTEM, AND THEY WILL CONTINUE TO CHARGE YOU LONG AFTER YOU HAVE DELETED THE APP. (also, they will charge you at a rate higher than any plan they have listed...) When I informed support, they could indeed see that 1) I had uninstalled during trial (18 months ago), 2) I was on a trial of a $20/month plan 3) They have been charging me $79 month every month, and continue to do so after this has been brought up to support. This is clearly unethical and illegal. Fortunately I have recourse through my credit card, but it is sad that a company of Privy's size would resort to such blatantly unethical behavior. I could have chalked it up to an honest mistake, but no...they continue to charge me even after I have pointed it out. (I literally don't even have a login....I deleted the trial during the trial phase....) No joke -- they tell me the only way to cancel is to login. They CONTINUE to charge me. I do not have a login (never have... I went through the app store to login back when I was trialing them in 2018....) I do hope Privy decides to do the right thing before I have to go through the credit card. I hate to say such nasty things about a business, but this behavior is simply unethical. Truly, I hope you recognize your error and rectify it immediately...while it is sad that it will have taken a review to finally get any action, it is better than nothing....
The sign up "pop up" doesnt actually allow anyone to sign up? Where is the bar to enter an email address? useless

It was fabulous during the FREE trial. Everything worked. Then everything stop working. I'm not even close to the end of FREE trial. Then I get an alert that I need to go to the paid program because I'm at over 2500 views? Not sure where they get this data from. I started this online boutique on Jan 22 and as of today I only have 255 page views? I wish I was in the 2000 views. Seems very shady to me! When my campaigns stopped working I ran the A/P test and now it seems how to push my views only on there end to the 2500 but everywhere else it states different? Google Analytics, Shopify Analytics. So privy not happy with the force of making people pay for a service that is not even working properly for the past few days. My RANK is a 0

PLEASE READ IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING PRIVY I would love to give this app a higher rating. The app itself works well. So kudos to the developers. It has done what I wanted. My issue is CUSTOMER SERVICE. I run 4 shopify stores, 3 of which were using Privy. On BLACK FRIDAY, 2 out of our 3 stores were shut down WITHOUT NOTIFICATION. We only received a message saying "You've hit your monthly traffic limit. We're reaching out to let you know you've reached your 5,000 pageview limit for this month.* This means that all of your campaigns have been paused, and are no longer collecting email addresses or driving sales for your online store. Your pageview counter will reset at the beginning of the next calendar month. To ensure your campaigns stay active going forward, click this link to upgrade your account." This was the only email from them which went into my "other" or unfocused email. No warning beforehand. I received an email from them on November 23, 2019 that tells me my campaign results which states only 2 signups, no redemptions. No mention that I was anywhere close to the 5000 page threshold. (Here is another opportunity for Privy to let customers know that they are approaching their limits.) Please let me state that I don't have an issue paying for a product that works. My issues are that when I questioned the calculations on a brand new store, they dismissed me and gave me only a pat answer that we calculate differently. This answer was given to me 3 times each time I reached out. I asked for someone to contact me to discuss what had happened and I heard from no one. I also take issue with that fact that we were shut down without notification on one of the busiest sales days of the year. Here is what Privy told us we had: Store 1 (which has 200-300 visitors per day) - 5300 page views Store 2 (0-15 visitors per day) - 5200 page views Please note that this is buried under the setting tab. Store 2 campaign window (by Privy) 439 views on the ONLY campaign running. Not sure how that extrapolates to 5200 page views. Google analytics said store 2 only had 1800 page views for the entire month. (not unique page views) so that is a 300% markup. Privy was not running for that entire month on Store 2. I can understand differences from Google analytics but not that substantial. Google analytics also is not using their numbers to get payment from me. I have made some suggestions to hopefully help other people that I hope that Privy takes into account: • I would suggest that you provide a meter on the front page (not buried under settings) that tell people how many page views that they have had. Show a progress bar to let them know if they are getting close. That way when they are going in to set up or adjust campaigns they will see it. • I would also suggest from a customer service perspective, send out warning emails at perhaps an 80% threshold to customers when they are getting close so that they don’t get shut down during a major sales day. • Alternatively or preferably in addition to the above email, have a pop up on Shopify that warns people. (Your shut down email went into my “unfocused” and on a busy day operating a store, that message would possibly go unnoticed. ) I would also ask that on the busiest sales day of the year that you NOT shut down customers without warning. We didn't notice right away and we were spending a significant amount of money on Facebook, Instagram and Google advertising in order to get sales and to build our email lists. Our advertisements said, "sign up to get a discount" We lost sales because the signup option was not there for them. This was not a good experience for us and we are actively looking for another app that will replace this. I will reiterate that the app itself works well. I will also reiterate that I don't mind and do pay for apps to help build our stores. It is the CUSTOMER SERVICE that was the issue. I am writing this review so that others will not get caught the way that we did and lose sales because Privy "pauses" your campaigns on your busiest sales day and holds you hostage until you pay. And when questioned on their analytics, they did not answer in any way that would make sense for Store 2. Please be aware of this before using.

Hello Elizabeth, Thank you for taking the time and effort to give us your feedback. We empathize with your situation, and we truly appreciate your suggestions for improved notifications such as an in-dashboard a progress bar and an 80% threshold email. We do send email notifications to account owners who need to purchase or increase their plan seven days ahead of time, and then every week until an action is taken. We never want to provide our customers with false or misleading information, and it is certainly not our intention to limit our merchants on their busiest day of the year. We are sorry you did not receive the best possible customer experience. Our responses to you could have been more clear, and we apologize that they were not. If it would be at all helpful, we’d love the opportunity to walk through the metrics for all three stores with you, particularly the second store you referenced. Our manager of Support will reach out to you directly, so please keep your eye out for an email from us. Again, we appreciate your feedback and your perspective, and thank you again for taking the time to reach out. We will use this opportunity to provide internal feedback based on your suggestions. The Privy Team.
11/11/19 Updated: Cancelled today...they still have not fixed the de-duplication issue. Began using Klaviyo...way more full featured and cheaper too! Bye, Privy! ***** 10/10/19 Reply to Developer Comment: I would have left this alone but it is not cool to publicly tell a complete lie and say you don't have to MANUALLY de-duplicate your list...you absolutely do. As of today (Oct. 10 2019) this is what your Support team (Andy) had to say about the fact that your system doesn't automatically deduplicate emails that have different casing (name@email.com vs. NAME@email.com)... "I checked internally and we are actively working on this now. The only update I can provide is: We're in a difficult situation where we need to determine how to make this change for all existing contacts across all business accounts. if there are duplicates how to fix them. - What if one of them is unsubscribed and the other is mailable? - How will this handle GDPR compliance in the context of duplicate customers for different businesses, or archived businesses? - Do we default to unsubscribing these? There's a lot of complications that play into this issue, im happy to provide you with an update when this have some movement on it" But don't take my word for it...before you use this product test if it allows emails with different casing to be created. You will see that Privy is not ready for prime time when it comes to email marketing. **** Original Review: It's really too bad that I can't give the a higher rating as I'd love to. I really like the app and the customer service and easy integration. BUT...they have one giant Achilles Heel. Their system allows for the same email address with different title cases to create duplicate records (e.g., person@email.com and Person@Email.com will create SEPARATE contacts) so you end up sending multiples to people all the time. You have to deduplicate your lists MANUALLY! The worst part is that they have known about this issue for months and have still not fixed it. De-duplication is the most fundamental feature of any email marketing program...it's staggering to me that they have let this go on for so long with no fix and have not even communicated the issue to their customers. Ask them about it before you sign up!

Thanks for the feedback and sorry about the issues you're experiencing. You shouldn't have to de-duplicate your list manually. We do have this capability in the product. Do you mind emailing us at support@privy.com so we can look into this for you?
I USED to love this app, that is until they changed their pricing structure and added a whole bunch of functions that I don’t need. Now I’ve just received a billing notice that the FREE app I loved so much is now going to cost me $70 a month (It was not worth it at $15/month, but I already had designed several pop ups so I just paid it). And when I contacted support I was informed that because of Privy I have added xx number of subscribers and made xx number of dollars. UH, NO - because I offer a coupon and designed great pop ups I added those subscribers and because I write AWESOME newsletters I made xx number of dollars. PRIVY, there is an old saying "Pigs Get Fat, Hogs Get Slaughtered". I've now deleted the app.
